It was the only thing in the world I wanted…read more I looked for places near me to get one, because I didn't wanna make it myself and this restaurant popped up. I have thought about trying it for sometime, and Sunday was the day. I got my person off of his computer game and we drove down to a decently busy drive through, so we decided to go inside as we wanted to review the menu anyways. The restaurant was clean and cute, almost set up like a little diner. THIS PLACE HAS EVERYTHING. or at least every fast food type item I wanted to see on the menu. We ordered chicken strip basket, a jalapeño burger, a chocolate shake and fried zucchini. There was at least 40 other things on the menu that I wanted to order, but figured this was a solid order for our first time. There was a little confusion with the cashier over the jalapeño burger, but I refuse to dock stars for a cashier who looked like they were still in training. The important part of the mix up, was the chef came out to clarify exactly what we wanted, so it was never really a problem to begin with. That chocolate shake has been living in my head rent free ever since, because it was perfect. The jalapeño burger (we ended up with 3 patties instead of two, per the menu confusion) basically brought tears to my partners eyes because it was so perfect. And they actually season their fries!!! I would give 6 stars if I could. Don't sleep on this gem. Whether you would call it a drive in or just fast food it is AWESOME.

We've had Burger Shack on our list for a while. We love stopping by old school drive in type burger…read moreshops for a no frills, just good food experience. We stopped in later in the evening for dinner and got the mushroom cheeseburger combo ($12.99), the Pastrami Cheeseburger combo ($14.99), cheese curds ($5.99) and fried okra ($5.99). They gave us our drinks right away and they have the nice crushed ice that's like tiny pebbles. It's always a treat when a spot has this ice because it's tiny and crunchy and not offered a lot. The food didn't take too long and came out on a tray for our dine in experience. There are plenty of booths here and during our visit there were a lot of other people enjoying meals in small groups and couples. The food was hot and fresh and the fries were nicely cooked crinkle cut fries. The fried okra as good, but needed a bit more seasoning or sauce to dip (we had ranch). The cheese curds were great, hot and the cheese was perfectly melty. My husband got the mushroom cheeseburger with just mushrooms, cheese, pickles and added bacon. He said it was a good burger and satisfied his craving, but isn't something he'd specifically seek out. I got the pastrami burger with everything on it and thought it was delicious, but the pastrami was a bit overcooked and dried out so the texture was a bit hard to bite through with the burger and I found myself eating the pastrami separately from the burger. There's plenty of parking here and they have a drive through. I heard the milkshakes are great, so if we stop by again we'll try one.

This takes me to "812 Grill" which has slowly gained a small cult following through social media since opening back in mid-2024. Located in a large outdoor strip mall on busy Watt Ave in North Highlands, 812 Grill is tucked smack dab in between Freedom Park Dr and Karl Dr. Parking was easy to find as there aren't a whole lot of businesses close to where they are located. I came here during the afternoon on Sunday 1/18/2026 at around 4:30pm. For those wondering, they are open for business Tuesday through Sunday from 11am-9pm and closed on Monday. You also have the option of placing your order online for pickup or delivery (DoorDash, Uber Eats, & Postmates). Since I did neither, I ordered my food the old fashioned way and that was at the ordering station area of the truck. I went with what was arguably their most popular item, the "Chicken Shawarma". They carry these in chicken as well as beef while you can also opt fora complete meal with fries. In addition to the Shawarma, they also specialize in a Halal-style cheeseburger as well as raptor fries (available in chicken or beef), wings, chopped cheese, and several lemonade flavors. And when my shawarma was ready, the pager they provide you sets off a chirping beep. Total time it took from when I ordered to when I got my food was about 10 minutes. After making the 15-minute drive back home, I unwrapped this thing and was ready to judge how good this was. As you can see from the photo, the size of this thing is massive as it is roughly about a foot long. And after the first bite, I enjoyed the seasoned and tender pieces of grilled chicken as they definitely did not disappoint. This wrap also included lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, and the signature sauce. The only reason for a deduction in the rating is that it was a little soggy which probably tastes a LOT better as soon as it is handed to you but nonetheless, it was above average. All in all, "812 Grill" was well worth the price and at $11.99 for a ton of food, you can't go wrong. The young man that took my order was polite while the truck was easy to identify, even from busy Watt Ave. With excellent tasting food, reasonable prices, above average service, and generous hours of operation, I am giving 812 Grill a respectable four star rating.

My partner ordered the tri tip because beef ribs were unavailable, and it was tough, dry, and resembled a ready‑made meal rather than fresh barbecue. The customer service was the only redeeming factor -- the woman at the counter was genuinely kind and helpful. However, for a place with such heavy advertising, the overall experience was extremely disappointing, especially after pushing past my hesitation when I realized it was located inside a convenience store. The seating situation was also underwhelming. There's a bar‑style area, but it's not a comfortable or inviting space to sit and enjoy a meal with friends. Overall, the visit was dissatisfying and a complete waste of money, time, and energy. Update: Visiting from Southern California, I noticed the billboard and decided to stop in. Unfortunately, the experience didn't live up to the expectations set by the advertising. This feedback was meant to be constructive, not personal. My day wasn't ruined by the visit -- it simply served as a reminder that presentation and reality should align. Constructive criticism is valuable for any business, and responding to reviews with openness and professionalism helps build trust and credibility with customers.

"Is this regarding an order?" "No this is not." "The manager is busy. I am the shift lead is this something I can help you with." After telling her no and continuing to tell her, I need to speak to a manager she told me that she would not get the manager for me. I asked her what her name was and she hung up on me. I called a different Denny's location. Actually the one off of sunrise and spoke to the general manager there. I asked them for the contact information for this Denny so I can report them for a rude behavior and he didn't have it, but he did tell me that the owner of this specific location owns almost every single location in Sacramento minus the citrus Heights location, off of sunrise and a Lodi location I believe. I am honestly writing this to let everybody know not to come here as a customer or as a future employee. The last general manager that I spoke to from the sunrise, location did tell me that they are currently understaffed due to the structure of the franchise owners, that's what they are personally requesting is under staffed. The other thing that I would also like to add, I went into the store to speak to somebody about getting a number to complain about, and as I was walking in two customers walked out, upset and crying because of how rude the staff was. If you call to see if they're hiring and speak to a "Shift Lead" named Nicole. She is actually the general manager and is lying to people that she is not her position. She does not say hi. How are you? She does not try to get to know you as a customer she just says what do you want? What can I help you with and hangs up in your face so to the franchise owners that read this? This is the type of people that you hire when there are other people who have actual customer service skills and can't get a job. I have 10 years experience in the food industry and have never been treated this bad or poorly by a general manager.

Here is my two cents on the food and the quality of such and a little bit of chatter…read more I was looking for an dying to eat a hamburger after that fiasco I had from Jack-in-the-Box. Came upon this place.... it was listed in Grubhub so I decided to give it a chance. I ordered a vanilla shake which was 699 and they billed me up burger which was 1799. I was hungry so I added another beef patty at the price of $2.99. and on the side with onion rings with set me back $1.79. It arrives quickly as possible through Grubhub but like all things anything fried they usually end up being a little bit cold and fall apart. Or $1.79 if you look at the photograph I guess that's what onion rings are going for now today they were large, pretty crunchy and tasty except I would've paid more money for a larger order of onion rings. GrubHub delivered sooner than expected so hot for the burger and nice handoff. Seven dollars for the size of a vanilla shake. I thought was a little pricey for the size of it. Anyway you can look at it on the photograph and decide for yourself whether or not it's worth it. Again vanilla shake was $6.99. The main course the build your own hamburger. .. $18 basically to build your own hamburger which is it which includes cheese and such I was extra hungry so I went for the extra patty which was $2.99. When it arrived it was all in one box and when I open it up, I was actually stunned as to how big this burger was. A double patty looked and smell delicious. Had a hard time to wrap my hands around it..,. It was still hot. It tasted good bigger than I thought but then again I was paying $18 for the monstrous burger meal. I definitely suggest you buy this if you like hamburgers. Only two things that I did not like it needed a touch of salt and pepper, and it was well done. They could've left something in the box stating how you wanted to cook. I am a carnivore, so I always like my meat, medium rare. I do wish the point out. It tasted very good and it was not. I repeat, not dry.... So I come to find out that this is a chain, but as far as chains location go, it was actually very good thumbs up
