There is also a large heated pool (really, who would have guessed, a swimming club with a pool :D) If you live in the area you will know that a bit of damp can be the price to pay for living at the beach. This may also be the reason why some equipment looks a bit more worn than it really is - but I found it's all in good working order. Definitely a great gym to join.

Granted, it was the middle of the afternoon, so I wouldn't have expected the messy drunks to turn up in any case. The bartenders were really friendly and accommodating, flashing smiles all around, which always makes customers feel better. Their cider, by the way, is the most delicious thing I've tasted in a while. It tastes almost like really strong sparkling apple juice, and is no less intoxicating for its deliciousness, not to worry. They have two well-maintained pool tables, the cues are unbroken and unblemished (which is a rarity in pubs, I've noticed), and they don't have any balls missing! Another rarity. The premises is really clean and well-kept, as well as being air-conditioned (though not too cold.. too cold defeats the purpose a bit, doesn't it) to perfection. Being close to where I used to work, I'd frequent this place quite a bit, and before it was a PJs it was a mates fave city pub so we'd catch up over a few here from time to time. There's a pretty good mix of people in the street-level bar, and PJs have converted it into more of a sports bar so there are plenty of screens for the sports nuts to check out their favourite teams prospects. PJs typically have pretty good fare. In winter they have two absolute cracking dishes. The Guiness Pie with mushy peas, and their signature lamb shanks which is totally unctuous. Why such a modest score? Price kills the place. It's not one of the cheaper places to get a beer as someone incorrectly states in their tips, it's easily one of the most expensive places to get a beer. You're paying over the top prices for domestic tap beer. A cheap beer is $5 for a Coopers Pale Ale, which you can get on the same street about 200m up the road... Also... As much as I enjoy a good pokie section, this one ain't good. And by that I mean the clientelle. It brings in the undesireable types, and sours what is otherwise a sweet pub. The snug, the downstairs den, has a great looking bar, and "snug" seating, but it's kinda pointless down there. It doesn't feel snug, it feels stuffy and claustrophobic - and the bar has never been manned when I've been down there. Now, if they moved the pokies to the snug, and then opened up the entire bar at the street-level to include the room vacated by the pokie section, you'd have something. But why would they do that when they can get by with what they have.

The coffee was not out of a machine but made properly - barista style - and it was delicious. Like a high end Sydney city cafe coffee. This same man was super polite and had a kind face. I feel he deserves a special mention as I could see him working hard all night to keep the place clean and make sure people were well hydrated. There are pokies in the main area and a sectioned off smoking area with machines also. Smokers will understand just how amazing this is. Honestly, I'm unsure if this is the norm here as I live in Qld but I was tickled pink. Aside from that the layout is what you would expect from a club of this kind but it was pleasantly clean. If I could give any feedback I would suggest upgrading the hand dryers in the unisex bathroom as it takes a long time to dry your hands. As everything is in the one room - toilet, basin and dryer - it makes me feel as though I'm in the toilet for a suspicious length of time... Huge beer garden, front verandah and great sports bar. Apparently the bistro opens at the end of Jan, looking forward to trying the food! Definitely the nicest place in Kingsgrove.
