I bought a new Pioneer 202 from them about 8 months ago, so I've had time to think through what went well and what didn't. Would I buy there again? Yes, IF the price beat everyone else. I got a good deal on a leftover 2018. I was not happy at all with the extras I bought and they installed. First, he sold me last year's Garmin and before I took delivery, I wanted Clayton to make sure I got the newer model. He said it was already installed and he wouldn't do anything for me. Second, they installed a factory t-top With screws that were way too short, so the top came loose after a few trips. I called the factory and they sent me, at no charge, the proper screws and a long drill bit. Jack talked me through the proper installation. Pioneer has great customer service. Third, they rigged my radio so that your hand will bump the volume control knob when you go to full throttle. I'm like, really? This was the best place to mount the radio? Fourth, Clayton promised to relocate the Bimini top to the front of the boat. They were rigging my boat for three+ weeks after he had my sizable deposit. When I show up (on appointment) to pick up the boat, they didn't do anything about the Bimini and the boat wasn't fully prepped. They had filled the original holes from the Bimini but hadn't done any gel coat work. At point of pickup, the salesperson said that a Bimini couldn't be installed at the front. I asked for and received the Bimini and I later had an expert install the Bimini at the front of the boat as I wanted. They wanted me to come back, which would be a two hour drive one way. Figure drop off and then pick up, that's 8 hours of driving and probably $130 in gas plus additional for incidentals.
I cut the deal with Clayton but when I showed for delivery, I had been handed off to another salesman. He was great and I really liked him. It's a nice facility and they seem to be well stocked. So it's not all bad, but be careful to make sure you know exactly what you want, how you want it, and make sure to get that in writing. Clayton did send some pics of the boat during rigging, so that was cool. I can't comment on service as I do my own, but given my experience pre-sale and during delivery, I wouldn't expect a great experience. read more
