Backstreets is by far my favorite bar in Clemson! Unlike other bars downtown (which I will leave unnamed) I can breath and have personal space. I have been in a bar in downtown Clemson and I actually couldn't squeeze through the ridiculous crowd of people. The music selection at this bar is awesome, and the drinks are not weak! Backstreets may be a little more alternative than most of the bars in Clemson, but that is why I love it. Fun fact: Backstreets is a hidden gem in terms of the food it serves. Most days of the week they have deals on their food (on Tuesday you can get a large pizza with one topping for $5.75!!) I'm originally from New York (as is my cousin who lives in Clemson now) and we both agree that Backstreets has the best pizza in town! Also, their wings are actually the best that I've had - they're crispy and delicious, even with sauce on them! The food was horrible and wrong, the wait staff was pretty unprofessional and seemed lost. I would not waste my money on this place.

Do yourself a favor and avoid this place! 40 minutes after we ordered, we had to go check that our order had not been lost. After waiting for a couple of minutes trying to be noticed by a staff member at the bar, they then informed us that it would be an ADDITIONAL 20 minutes until our food was ready. When it finally did come out, it was not correct. I understand being busy, but I still can't fathom waiting an hour for a couple of burgers and some wings at 7pm on a Tuesday night. Stopped here while in town for work ordered some wings and a beer. Beer was warm and wings were awful- one of them still had a bunch of feathers on them. When I complained about it, they told me "it won't kill you". I asked to not be charged for either since I'd had one sip of my beer and didn't touch the wings and wanted to leave, but was told if I tried to leave without paying they would call the cops. Asked the locals where to go for great wings in Clemson, and people told us to go here. Under $7 for a dozen huge meaty wings? Yes! Wait staff consistently refilled drinks and checked on my table. The restaurant was super clean, much cleaner than most sports-type bars, and the music was really great (wish we'd gone on Tuesday, the bartender told me they play progressive dance). I was in Clemson for the weekend, This place looked interesting. Upon first entering it smelled different... Not bad, not great, but just a different kind of smell than you'd expect walking into a dive. Had a bud light bottle. It was cold but tasted horrible. Like it was out of date or had been hot for a while then chilled. I decided that I'd try some food and drink somewhere else. I ordered a cheese burger, fries and a coke. The wait was 20 minutes and the place was empty except for some local yocals. The cheese burger came out without cheese, The coke was flat and watered down. The fries were the best part of the meal. Insted of sending it back and have one of the young punks in the back spit in it, i ate the fries, paid and left. The only thing I even remotely liked about the whole situation is the stuff on the walls, that was pretty cool, but the drinks, food and service was sub par, I do not recommend. read more

Was down in Clemson yesterday and tried this place out based on a buddy's suggestion. Food was "ok" at best....a little more on the greasy side than typical bar food. However, I had real problems with the service. Took forever to get our order placed, waitress couldn't seem to be bothered to give us refills on soft drinks (yeah, I know its a bar, but I had a 30mi drive back home), and then when the food finally arrived it was lukewarm. I guess its a good thing the place caters to college students, they couldn't stay in business providing such poor service in any other location. read more

For the first time ever I came to backstreet to play some pool and hang out with my guy friends. One of my friends, celebrating his bachelor party, went out front because he was too drunk and I as throwing up. We understand that's not okay. We went outside to check on him. He seemed to be okay but a little nauseous, but our other friends just kept getting kicked out and we weren't sure why. I tried to go back inside to find my one friend and I as confronted with an aggressive demeanor. I told him I wasn't trying to cause a problem we were just looking for our friend so we could leave. As we were waiting for our Uber ride I went back to the door, without trying to step inside, to ask if I could get a water. The male bouncer put both his hands on me to shove me out. As a woman that was extremely upsetting. Especially due to the fact I was trying to ask for a water to help me sober out while I waited for a ride. The ther bouncer tried to help me out and got me a water but that was absolutely ridiculous when we were doing absolutely nothing wrong. One girl was getting kicked out for "being with us" we didn't even know the girl. But I am surprised at how my friends and especially me were treated. No woman asking for help and 112 pounds should be shoved out with both hands by a grown man. read more

I stopped here a couple weeks ago while visiting SC. Food was mediocre, and underprepared. I had diarrhea and abdominal cramping 7 hours later and spent my entire trip back to Florida touring nearly every public restroom along the interstate. I will not be returning. read more

Food is bad and overpriced. The service and atmosphere also lacks much to be desired. There, I just used as much intelligence, unbiased opinion and personal knowledge as the owner did when he posted the sign asassinating the character of those who choose to carry firearms for protection of themselves and others. I will frequently try pubs when I'm traveling, which I do on a regular basis. If there is a sign prohibiting firearms based on the choice of the owner, I do not enter, even if I'm not carrying a gun. I figure the owner does not want my kind in his restaurant and I honor that wish. This sign goes so far beyond just prohibiting guns, it warrants a review from someone who knows as much about the restaurant food and service as the restaurant owner knows about me as one who carries a concealed handgun on a regular basis and have for over 30 years (ex-police officer). read more

I was here a few months ago. I could have gotten better service from the homeless guy on the street. Rude and abrasive with mediocre food at best. The beer was watery, (Needs to be checked) and none too cold. This is the US, not England. We enjoy COLD beer here. Also, my glass had residual lipstick stains. I used to go to Backstreets nearly every day for a good few years after I turned 21, enjoyed the good prices and good food. In recent years I haven't gone as much simply because of being busier, but I have noticed lately when I do go that the staff seems to have taken a turn for the worse. The menu and food is all still good (though the prices have increased substantially), but the employees are horrible. Almost all of them are so rude for no apparent reason! One time during a football game I even had my table snatched from under me after ordering a bunch of food and beer, "because they needed it downstairs". No apology or anything, just a bunch of idiots demanding I get up and take my stuff. I still go back on occasion but Backstreets is definitely not my first choice anymore. I miss the old Backstreets! :( read more

This is the worst restaurant I have ever eaten in. The food was cold the beer was hot and the service was served with an FU. While I was in there two men came in with shotguns and robbed the place. While the 2 guys were emptying the cash register and pointing there guns at us they were just laughing at us. I overheard the owner, who was on his knees say "please help, does anyone here have a gun", then we all just laughed and then the two guy shot everyone. read more

Miserable. From the method of operation to the personality of the people working there, the whole experience is horrid. I used to enjoy this place, but the past two trips I have made to this "restaurant" have been terrible to say the least. On a Sunday it takes about one hour to even order food, and then another hour to receive the food. The employees are trashy and rude, and that comment is me reserving myself from saying exactly how I feel. If you are looking for a nice experience in Clemson, SC, DO NOT come here. Go to one of the local staples such as Tiger Town Tavern or Wingin' It where they are known for phenomenal service and fun ambiance. To say that Backstreets is depressing is an understatement.
