Secondspin is the best record store in Saint John! they're always updating stock, and have very…read morereasonable prices. I always find myself something new every week that I go in there. If I don't find the record that I want one week, I'll probably find it the next! My only complaint would be there hours. They aren't open on Monday or Tuesday, and close at 6:00 every other day. Really solid store overall!

Second Spin is a good place to geek out. They sell comics and action figures in addition to LPs and…read moreused CDs. Their prices are actually pretty reasonable compared to the record shops in the bigger cities. If you're in the market for old 45 singles, you're in luck because SecondSpin has a huge assortment. Don't go there if you don't have a lot of time (or patience) on your hands though. The 45s are scattered all over the store with no rhyme or reason as to how they're situated (condition, genre, price, used or new.) After a bit of digging, I got frustrated and moved on. I didn't feel like getting down on my knees to sort through the unalphabetized singles in the milk crates on the floor. SecondSpin dudes, if you're reading this - organize your 45s and pick them up off the floor. Also, the store doesn't have bags. You'll have to bring your own. It was raining the day I was in there so I asked for a bag for my purchases. The counter guy looks at me blankly and says "I have no bags, man." He said this as if I was already supposed to instinctively know this. So I had to put the records under my shirt so they wouldn't get wet. I'm giving them three out of five for their reasonable prices and diversity of stock. I can live with the byob policy but I shouldn't have to bring kneepads to search their stock. Sort it out, guys.

Without a doubt the best used book store in the Valley! This new location right on the main road…read morethrough town is a clean and super organized two floor shop. Soooo many books that are so neatly organized with a great vibe. Shelves are organized by theme/category and the store is nice and bright, unlike most book stores. The main floor is all fiction and has a small new books section with lots of local Nova Scotia selections. There are also journals and beautiful cards you won't find elsewhere and a large selection of books from local publishers. There's also a nice quaint seating area at the front of the store where you can get lost in a book while looking up to see the world go by on the front street. The upstairs is all non-fiction and an absolute paradise with topics broken down to nature and woodworking and even a section on alcohols and wine. This makes books easier to find and so much more fun. Lots of little seating nooks upstairs with tables, chairs and even a nicely hidden couch. The only downside of this place is that it is two floors so it's not fully accessible. Sadly, Nova Scotia lags severely in accessibility legislation, so this is a common problem theme. If you're looking for something, the owner is friendly and helpful over phone or email. You can connect before arriving to see if they have a certain book in stock. Come with lots of extra time because you will lose track of it!

Now a lot of people may not know this, but indigo is also the owners of chapters and Cole's…read more Cole's when I was a kid was the only bookstore in St. John. There was no indigo or chapters and I am 44 years old now I've been able to read since I was five so for 39 years I've been buying books here. They have a wide selection of any kind of book you can imagine, with the exception of you know naughty stuff but through my years of ageing I know that I've gone from kids books to teenager books to young adult books every kind of book you can imagine I mean I like to read more than I like to watch TV there's something about a real book, smell of the pages and the ink. I think that plays a big role and putting you to sleep, when you read because when I read on my phone I don't get that. It's wrong as books are printed on paper. I will always buy them that way and this bookstore and I know I name three but they're all the same the best the absolute best, even when I lived in Toronto, I still went to chapters you get awesome deals awesome people that work there. I've never really had a problem with any employee so you got your customer service. You got your good deals and you got absolutely an unlimited amount of books and if you can't get your book in store well, you can get it online and have it delivered to the store for free, and if you order over a certain amount and gets $35, then they'll deliver it to your house for free. Either way you will get your book and at a reasonable price.

Great book store with bright layout, fun kids area, every book section expected, plenty of popular…read morebooks as well as classics, large gift/merch areas, friendly staff, and even a pass-through door to the coffee shop next door.
