Wonderful experience! The service was friendly and fast, and the food was absolutely delicious.

The only thing I order which was good were the Cheesy Potatoes. The staff were attentive. The atmosphere has not changed in years. Now to the rest of the food. The ribs were juicy and tender but full of tendons so the entire meatloaf was spent spitting chucks of tendons out. The staff do NOT provide a dish:container to place the bones in. The beef brisket sandwich was dry, not seasoned very well, and had minimal smoke flavor from the barbecuing. The roll used for the sandwich was nothing special and it was dry. I have avoided this place for the last 4 years because the food was not good then, but I thought I would give it another try since it was under new owners. The Food was amazing being from Hawaii and Living in California for a while, I never got to experience real barbecue, so i decided to try out Backroad BBQ and it did not disappoint. I got the sample platter which had Sausage, Ribs, pulled pork, and chicken and it was delicious. The ribs fell straight off the bone when I picked it up, as did the chicken. Everything was super juicy and very flavorful I also tried out the sauce options they had at the table and all of them were amazing as well. Service was quick and super friendly, they were very attentive and constantly checked in with us to see how we were doing and if we needed anything. I loved the ambiance of the place as well, it felt like finding a nice little hole in the wall spot, and gave me my first feel of good barbecue. Backroad BBQ will definitely be one of my go-to's while I'm here and a spot to have friends or family come try if they want some good ole BBQ. read more

We have eaten here several times before. But this time, not very good. The baked beans tasted like they came out of a can of Bush beans. The brisket was not anything to rave about. A spoonful of potato salad is $5.00?! And pretty expensive for what we got and the quality. Will not be back for awhile. Hopefully, some of the problems will be worked out in the future. read more

The smoked meats are very good but overall the portion size is very small for the cost of the meal and everything is priced separately. The nacho meals are way way too expensive for what you get. If you go here very hungry don't expect to get filled up. There were 5 of us in our party. We all ordered different entrees. We all agreed that this place is nothing to brag about. read more

Heading to the hotel from the USD game seeking late night eats. Stopped here based on reviews and ordered takeout - 3 platters and 3 sides to feed 5. Plenty for all and the BBQ was OUTSTANDING. Not too smoky, which seems to happen at many BBQ places; nice rub on the ribs and chicken and excellent sauce. Pulled pork was tender and perfectly seasoned and the links were very good. The food here is pretty good but it's too smoky for my tastes. You also don't have a big option of things to pick from. You would think a BBQ place would have chicken strips (they do for the kids, but what about the adults!!). The servers are a bunch of teenagers that don't really know much about the menu or what is served (at least the waitress we had didn't know much). We also had this place cater our wedding about a year ago and as mentioned before, the food was great!! But...the guy (I'm pretty sure it was the owner) who catered the food for us forgot the butter for the rolls we had and forgot the take home trays for any leftovers we had (and we had a lot). He didn't even offer to run back and get the stuff he forgot or call someone to bring it for him. We had to rummage through the place we were having our wedding at to find Ziploc bags that barely held everything. I'd recommend going here just to try out the food and if you really like it, then this is the place for you but I would not have them cater anything for you. read more

I arrived around 9 pm and they were out of several items which is not a bad thing. I did have the pulled pork, and the brisket. Both were excellent. I also had a side of beans which were smoked as well. Pulled pork was moist and had a slight smoke to it. Brisket was a nice salt and pepper with a nice smoke. Would have liked to eat here after reading other reviews. Stopped by an hour before posted closing time and could see the staff extremely upset from the car. Went in and asked said hello only to receive no greeting or welcome of any kind. Stood there for 30 seconds as the bartender said nothing and just stared blankly. So, I simply asked if they were open and was told they were not even though many people were sitting at the bar. Who will ever know. Maybe call first to double check hours of operation? read more

I was thinking this place was going to be good before I got there from what I have heard through the grapevine. Now I have been there I can say this is one of the best BBQ places I eaten at in many years. Three friends and I each ordered the platter. The platter was around $15 and came with a side. It had a nice smoked chicken leg, three generous beef ribs, a serving of pulled pork, several slices of smoked sausage and a bun. All four BBQ items where delicious and the side of smokey beans was exceptional as well. They make four different sauces. The Carolina and Regular sauce were good, but the Hot sauce and the Spicy sauce were damned near perfect. Two big thumbs up. read more

My wife and I stopped here while camping in the area. We had the ribs along with potato salad and the baked beans. The ribs were fantastic. Perfect texture and tenderness. They had a very flavorful rub. The potato salad was creamy with a hint of dill flavor. The baked beans had brisket and pork added. They provided three different bbq sauces...original, spicy and hot. My wife liked the original while I favored the spicy. Will absolutely go back when we are up this way! read more

I live in the Kansas City area where BBQ is king. I'm huge on taste and service. This place could put Oklahoma Joes (Joes) out of business. The service is prompt and punctual. Smoke flavor was perfect, tenderness, meat needed no sauce to flavor it. However, the sauce was very tasteful as well. If this was located in Kansas City, there would be no "slow Thursday's". Where the farmer's go after pick'n corn. Bruno's has a small limited bar and serve standard iceberg lettuce with meals. I think all fish is deep fried and coleslaw is very wet. If in the area (middle of nowhere) this is a place to stop and get a beer. The waitress was very nice and so was the bartender. read more
