Did someone say good steak? :-) We were caught off guard…read morewith the decor of the restaurant but it is very unique and impressive in a vintage way. We were referred this location from a friend (shout out to Casey) and he provided a heads up about the old fashioned decor and possible long wait time...but when someone says, "good steak!" I am there The service provided by Sandy and Trace felt personal and genuinely friendly. We were fortunate that there were only a few other customers in the restaurant at the time as I could see how they get busy and wait time for the meal could be long but if you like good food and are not in a hurry I urge you to check this location out. Our meat was prepared as requested and was juicy and tender. I requested my baked potato to be prepared a certain way and while they said they would do their best they didn't make any promises. The potato was cooked almost perfectly to my specifications. Overall the meal was very good and I enjoyed the experience. Some added bonuses- they had some great salad dressings and the pina colada is wonderful. Apparently the drink is a specialty of Trace. Also we added some of the white garlic salad dressing onto the potato and it was indeed the bee's knees.

It was a new experience and very good. Sorry but it took to long . The atmosphere was like a…read moretime capsule from the seventies

I've been visiting Yankton regularly for nearly a decade and have eaten at most of the restaurants…read morethat have come, gone and stuck around except for Mexico Viejo...until last night. We came in for dinner and were seated quickly; drinks, chips and salsa were delivered quickly; orders were taken quickly. The menu is large and a little overwhelming because there are so many options but that is a complaint that isn't really a complaint. Our server was great, she refilled our chips and salsa twice throughout the meal and still offered to bring more at least once, so the restaurant is definitely not stingy about that. The chips came out warm and the salsa was very tasty. I struggled to decide on an entree because shrimp fajitas are typically my go to, but I've learned over the years that seafood can really be hit or miss in the Midwest. However, I just went with it and was more than pleasantly surprised. The shrimp were decently sized/portioned, cooked and seasoned perfectly, and I loved that there were mushrooms in it. The flour tortillas were excellent and the rice, beans, guacamole, etc. that came with it were fresh and flavorful. Husband had a steak burrito and in-laws split the Mazatlan fajitas. They seemed to enjoy their meals as well. Overall, this was a great experience. This place has been here for awhile (oldest Yelp review is 14 years old), so hopefully they stick around for much longer. Will definitely be back.

Jerry's Hilltop Service - Prime Rib meal with loaded baked potato. I ordered my cut medium rare.

A few weeks ago, my longtime buddy and I went to Jerry's Hilltop on Saturday night for their Prime…read moreRib meal. We like to try local restaurants around the state and call our operation "Boyz Against Salads (BAS)". We were unsure how busy things would be that night because we knew this restaurant was fairly popular among the locals. I decided to call a few days before and make a reservation for Saturday night. While on the phone, the woman asked me if I wanted to save any cuts of Prime Rib for Saturday. I said absolutely we do. This is not an accommodation that I have seen at another restaurant, but it was a welcomed aspect that more restaurants should take part in. As you pull up to the restaurant, which is actually located on the top of the hill of a highway, you will see an unsuspecting building. There were dozens of cars there at 6:45 that night, which did have us worried, but we were grateful to have made a reservation prior to our arrival. When we entered the building, we were quickly greeted by the hostess. It was clear that our assumption about the level of popularity of this establishment was true. There were dueling parties being hosted within the restaurant. And let me tell you, this is a huge venue. Even with all of the cars outside, there was still plenty of room on the inside. We were quickly provided our table, and a waitress greeted us shortly thereafter. Something that we picked up on right away was how many waitresses were working that night. I have never seen so many in a local restaurant. Perhaps this was due to the party celebrations taking place, but nonetheless, this helped offer superior service to the customers. The waitress we had was extremely cordial, knowledgeable, and a true helper to a few outside fellas. As we scoured the menu, we saw that the Prime Rib meal was only $30 (They offer a smaller cut for only a dollar less.), and it came with a smorgasbord of food. The standard side salad, choice of potato, and bun were expected, but we did not anticipate also being offered a cup of soup and a relish tray. This was also something else we had never seen before by being provided a relish tray. This was brought out extremely fast after our order was taken. And let me tell you what, there was plenty on this relish tray. The picture attached was taken after my buddy and I had devoured a large chunk of it. The rest of our meal came out in a reasonable amount of time. The Prime Rib was cooked perfectly. The au jus had a great salty flavor. The loaded baked potato was wonderful. My buddy and I also had to order some pie and ice cream for dessert. If you have not had the chance to stop at Jerry's Hilltop, I highly recommend that you do so in the near future. This is a fine family establishment that is worth your time. The entire staff will treat you as if you were their own family. For our BAS operation, we keep track of all the restaurants we visit and grade them on five different characteristics (price point, taste, portion size, restaurant ambiance, and plating). We each rate the various characteristics out of five and then add both scores up. The maximum points allowed per characteristic is ten. Jerry's Hilltop came out with a score of 44/50, which currently holds the top spot in our leaderboard. We HIGHLY recommend Jerry's Hilltop.

As the song goes...."where everyone knows your name." Daily specials are offered Monday-Thursday but unfortunately, our visit was on Friday. We browsed the printed menu and landed on the patty melt and rodeo best burger--a 6 oz. burger jam packed with two types of cheese, mushrooms and all the fixings. It was huge! A side of crinkle cut fries was split between our orders and after seeing the size of the fry order we were glad we decided to share! All burgers on the menu with "rodeo" in the name are 6 oz. in size. A sign on the wall reads, "if you leave hungry it is your fault" and I would tend to agree with the sign's message. Our burgers were juicy, a little messy in a good way, and very filling. Our server was friendly, efficient, and checked on us frequently. We were provided a full set of condiments (see photo) to embellish our already overflowing burgers--something you don't see at your local burger joint. Restrooms needed some updating and attention, but were clean and serviced. We liked the friendly feel and food at the Rodeo Bar and Grill and would recommend it to others--if we keep traveling to northeast Nebraska they may even learn our names.

The food is great and it's probably the best thing ever you will find in a small town in Nebraskaread more
