These guys are life savers! I was in severe pain and could barely function. I was able to make an appointment quickly and easily that day. When I arrive at Back to Basics and was immediately greeted with someone helping my to walk into the office. At the time it was impossible for me to walk without assistance. When I returned the next day after my first treatment (and following the Dr's advice for at home car) I was able to walk into the office unassisted. It was a huge improvement in such a short time. Okay, where to begin???! I have been to over 10-15 chiropractors in the last five years (I am picky), between VA, DC and Boston. This is by far my FAVORITE practice ever. I am 26 and due to a childhood car accident, I suffer from chronic back pain. I usually suffer through my pain until the last possible moment but I have held up adjustments here for the past eight months or so (for me that's every two-three weeks.) Let me start with Tomeka (I will follow her to the ends of the universe). She knows her sh*t, simply put. She works diligently to help me feel better at the end of a massage, not just "okay" or "relaxed". I have been searching YEARS for a masseuse even a fraction as decent as her. She can tell if I have been standing up for too long, picking things up that I shouldn't have, or whatever by the way I WALK. It's amazing. She gives me tips and tricks to help with pain in between our visits and also teaches me about my body (what is tight, where, and why that causes xyz pain). I work two jobs and I take time off or switch my schedule around JUST FOR HER!!! She is that amazing. Acknowledging chronic pain and dealing with it has been a lot less stressful since I've been in her care. I will have to deal with my pain for the rest of my life, which sucks but it is what is. She makes me feel better (mentally and physically) at the end of each and every session. Dr. Sebastian is also amazing!!! He doesn't make me feel guilty for when I don't wear my shoe lift(basically every visit) and he shows me techniques to help with adjustments and if I am in pain, etc. He is quick and straight to the point which I love! Dr. Salomone and his team have created an inviting and healing atmosphere in this office. I began treatment for constant headaches and neck pain which I thought just came along with sitting at a desk/computer all day. This just isn't true! After a month of regular massages and adjustments, I really can't remember the last time I popped an advil for a headache. I have so much confidence in the knowledge and expertise of Dr. Salomone and his staff. There is nothing like being on a massage table and having the therapist point to specific trigger points and tell me exactly why I'm having tension there. I was recently involved in a car accident and as a result of that accident I was in need of chiropractic services. After research I decided on back to basics. When I called the person who answered the phone was very polite and kind. As I proceeded to set up my appointment to get seen, I was told that they will not see me simply because I do not have an attorney to represent me. I was very taken back by that comment because every situation doesn't result in needing an attorney for representation when you're in an accident so I explain that to the professional and she told me well people come back all the time and need extensive records because they go back and get an attorney later. My question was: So you won't see me because I'm a cash paying customer that was recently in a car accident and I don't have an attorney. Yes Paul that's basically what I'm saying I'm sorry have a nice day. In my opinion I believe that's one of the worst business practices any company could have I would recommend to draw up a document basically outlining the terms and conditions if you are a cash paying customer without legal representation. I guess I'll find a chiropractor that is concerned about me and not just their bottom line. read more

I was looking for a chiropractor to relieve back pain from a sports injury that has been nagging me for sometime. I am often wary of new doctors, but Dr. Blanchett was extremely helpful and I felt at ease in her hands. This is the first time I have seen a chiropractor, so I was somewhat nervous, That was by far the most productive and relaxing hour of my life. First, we discussed my issues and did some range of motion tests to see where I was at. Then, we started with EST (electro-shock therapy) which was surprisingly relaxing. This loosened and fatiques my muscles causing me trouble. Then, Dr Blanchett adjusted my whole spine (neck & back), along with my hips and pelvis. I was nervous that the adjustment would be painful, but the experience was not at all. Having my bones go back into proper position felt great, like having a weight lifted off my shoulders in a sense. We finished up with some soft tissue massage and my lower back muscles are quite tight. I am returning next week to continue correction of my back issues, and I am looking forward to further pain relief. I highly recommend Back to Basics for anyone with back pain. You won't regret it at all. And they are very affordable (I have a high deductible insurance plan). read more

Not only did Sebastien help straighten my back and hip, but the massage therapists REALLY loosen you up, allowing Sebastien to easily diagnose the issue. It doesn't hurt that my insurance includes a 60 minute massage with the chiropractor appointment. I had never been to a chiropractor before, but due to strong pain/tightness in my shoulders and lower back I needed to do something. I wanted to try a Chiropractor as it does not immediately involve medication and seemed to have a more wholesome approach to fixing the problem long term. After some research I decided to go with Back to Basics. At my first appointment the lady checking me in was very friendly, explained everything to me and even went to check what exactly my insurance covered. Sebastien was also very friendly, listened to my symptoms, checked my posture and walking style, and explained what he was going to do before the treatment. After 3 treatments my symptoms were gone completely and have not returned since. I periodically still go to this Chiropractor to address any issues that might come up due to my job, stress or sports. Every time I have been to Back to Basics for an appointment everybody has been very friendly. Sebastien is not in a rush and listens to my issues and concerns for the treatment. He explains where my issues most likely come from and what I can do with my lifestyle and exercises to avoid them in the future. Overall, I feel more relaxed since I started treatments here, sleep better, and have experienced less physical discomfort. Iam also more aware of habits that contribute to back or shoulder issues. I recently moved from the suburbs to the city and I knew I did not want to travel an hour to my old chiropractor, as great as he was, so I started searching for one closer. I had such high hopes when I read about Back to Basics chiropractics and specifically Dr. Salomone. All the great reviews indicated a knowledgeable, friendly, safe, and effective practice. Unfortunately I did not have the same five star experience. Maybe I just expect too much out of chiropractors since my grandfather was one and I have been getting adjusted by different ones since I was an infant. I have yet to find a perfect chiropractor but I know enough to know when one isn't good. If you want the cliff notes, I thought the front desk staff was always very welcoming, the price for an hour long massage and adjustment was only $80 (and if you wrote a yelp review you would get $10 off your next visit) and insurance covered both the massage and adjustment because of how they billed them. I feel that Dr. Salomone was too rough and felt he was doing harm, not good. The saving grace of this practice was the massage therapists. It is because of them I am giving 3 stars instead of 2. Jessica and Lendora were incredible and I am very sad that I will not be able to use them again. After being diagnosed with degenerative disc disease in my neck due to trauma I have been very careful about who I let adjust it. I had one doctor tell me under no circumstance should a chiropractor being manipulating my neck. However, I had another that I trust more, advise me to get adjustments to slow the degeneration. He prefaced by saying that it couldn't be any chiropractor or more harm than good would be done. I needed to find someone who was gentle. Look, if I do not hear something pop I feel like I wasted my time. I say that only to reinforce that gentle to me means to use least amount of force possible, employ different techniques if need be, and certainly do not force the vertebrae to move if the muscle around them are too tight. On my first visit I brought my MRIs and X-Rays to Dr. Salomone for review so that he would know what form of treatment would work best for me. My main complaint was that the last chiropractor I had seen was too rough. He would have to use all of his bodyweight to get my lower back to move. I had gone in for 3 appointments and what ended up being a deal breaker for me was after one adjustment I was having trouble swallowing for several weeks until I went to a different chiropractor. The adjustment to my neck was particularly forced, he even did one side a second time because it was so tight. I am not a chiropractor but after the angle I was adjusted at and the force he used to manipulate my spine I knew I needed to find someone new; the trouble swallowing later that day was evidence it was not in my head. It probably sounds like I just keep whining about forceful adjustments, but that only because I have been worked on by people who have done the same high velocity low impact (traditional) adjustments with much less force and they certainly would not force an adjustment if someone had moderate disc disease.Most people reading this do not need to worry much about this chiropractic approach. The movement alone gets the results people are looking for, which is probably why the reviews are so favorable. I will say this, the massage therapist I saw were 5 star worthy. Jessica and Lendora were both excellent. I worked the most with Jessica, who was able to go deep but not be punishing. She was able to find my trigger points and get my muscles to release and somehow its was still mostly enjoyable. I always left feeling like a new person and it lasted for weeks. Unfortunately, on the last visit I only wanted a massage and not an adjustment and as I was walking out of the room I was told that since I didn't get an adjustment I would owe the full amount of $80 and they would not file for insurance. Come on, this is something you should tell people and it feels a bit underhanded that you would wait until after service has been rendered. read more

I was happy with the services they provided but not the way they handle business. Dr Bartz made me feel welcome and comfortable even when I was brand new to using a chiropractor. After my first appointment I got into a car accident. I had my second appointment and it went well. They told me at the beginning they charged $100 for the first visit and $60 for every one after that. They also told me my insurance didn't help because I have a high deductible. A few hours before my third appointment the secretary called me and told me that because my 'insurance wasn't discounting the service' (direct quote) my cost would now be $206 a visit. I called my insurance and the office had NEVER FILLED WITH THEM. The office changed my bill from $60 to $206 with a bold faced lie for an excuse. I wish Dr Bartz worked for a less shady administration because I was very happy with his services. I'm simply unwilling to do business with somebody who conducts things that way. I've been using chiropractic care since I was a teenager. Update: 02/20/2017 I had a better experience today. Jessica was my therapist and she was able to relieved my back pains. I didn't opt for chiropractic session this time as I was hesitant to have it because of the lack of information I've received on my first session. It was too fast. I got adjusted here and there and didn't know what to expect. I just got a little terrified especially when I heard all the cracking sounds when my neck got adjusted. For massage, I will go back and will definitely request Jessica again. It's a clean facility with friendly staff. I just didn't think that my first massage and chiropractic session here was worth $110. The massage even though I have requested for harder pressure, it wasn't really done well. It is quite relaxing but I felt like the strokes were too light and all over the place. It's like there is no system or routine followed. For the chiropractic part, I guess I was expecting more info from the chiropractor since it was my first time. I'm giving it another try today since I am curious about what other people have experienced and how it was given a very high rating. I'm choosing another massage therapist this time. read more

Dr. Sebastien Salomone and his team are amazing! I have had frequent and painful neck problems for a few years and put up with it as just another card life had dealt me. I had been experiencing terrible pain for a few days in a row and I could not take it any longer. I found Dr. Salomone's office on Google, called and came in. The receptionist is friendly, the decor lovely and music relaxing. Dr. Salomone is upbeat, cheery and very attentive. I told him what had been bothering me and he examined the alignment of my body. He used a variety of techniques, one of which was electrodes placed in various spots on my back. I can't tell you what a strange yet wonderful sensation that was. He also had a heated pad placed along my shoulders. His adjustment of me was nothing short of amazing. I felt "unlocked' or like someone had released something that had been inside me causing pain. Nothing hurt, everything felt great despite my nervousness at first and reservations of having someone adjust me. Dr. Salomone also has in his office these great chiropractic pillows (I bought one) that helps keep your neck and spine aligned when sleeping. I tend to toss and turn from side to side and this pillow really gives you great support. It is a little strange at first but you get used to it. One of my friends recommended Dr. Salomone. I was involved in a car accident and could not turn my neck and had shooting pain down my arms. I did a number to my ribs and back while playing soccer. I hate going to the doctor but got to the point where I wasn't able to do normal daily activities without being in a lot of pain.
