I have been to Back In Time Escape Room in Manhattan Beach twice. Both times were AMAZING! The first time was with friends. It was THE BEST activity for a fun and enjoyable night out. Not your standard dinner and a movie which gets boring and expensive. This was interactive and social! Booking was easy, the facility was cool and the clues were challenging and stimulating. Working with friends is interesting because you see a different side to them-we each brought our unique problem solving traits to the game which made it really rewarding and bonding. The second time I attended I brought 12 six-year-olds! It was just as incredible! Although the theme of Salem Witch Hunt was too mature and the game clues would be difficult for the kiddos, Back in Time Escape Rooms worked with me in advance to remove the spookier items and replace them with happy, silly items such as replacing a skull with a teddy bear and replacing rubber insects with bouncy, happy ping pong balls. Back in Time Escape Room staff was PHENOMENAL! Management took the time to curate an experience that was engaging and memorable for the little kids. The staff was INCREDIBLE! They were happy to adapt their escape room with many modifications and bent over backwards to ensure the children were having a fantastic time. I have never seen 6 year olds so attentive and engaged for that long of a period of time! I am so impressed with Back in Time Escape Rooms and will be attending often with all age groups.

Super fun experience! Went with some friends to celebrate my 30th birthday and the whole time our game master had us laughing! Definitely recommend coming here. Our game masters name started with an N. He was super cool! Definitely deserves to win the yelp competition at work!

Normally, they would group us with strangers but since we were the only ones there at the time, they allowed us (a duo) to play in a single room. I appreciated the flexibility and friendly tour through the rooms! My friend and I played The Depths, and completed it with no hints and twenty-five seconds to spare! The room was clean and high-tech for proper immersion into the puzzle's plot. The puzzles were challenging and straight-forward, and I appreciated the lack of red herrings and the ability to take your phone around. I would recommend taking pictures of important clues so you don't have to run from room-to-room to cross-reference! Using the flashlight on my phone was also helpful in the dimmer rooms of the puzzle, as well. Overall, awesome experience with the escape room and will be back again whenever we are in the area. The only thing I would suggest that they do different is pause the timer for the "story videos" that they play here and there. The clips are entertaining but they are fairly yappy and waste precious seconds of the allotted hour...

The staff is beyond professional, genuinely kind, and so patient with the kids. The escape rooms themselves are spotless, creative, fun, and seriously cool. You can tell how much care and thought goes into every detail, from the puzzles to the overall atmosphere. A special thank you to Wilson, who was absolutely wonderful. Second issue was they were about 15 minutes late getting us started. Next, we waited inside the escape room in silence for approximately 10 minutes for it to begin. Finally the experience was abruptly ended by the attendant saying we had run out of time leaving my child in tears. There was no warning that we were running low on time nor were there any prompts to move us along. I've been to at least a dozen escape rooms and never have I experienced being cut off and not allowed to finish, especially with young child present. I respectfully voiced my concerns to the attendant who told me a manager would speak to me. I waited another 10 minutes for a manager, who told me nothing could be done about any of my concerns and to contact corporate.

This review is shorter than my average only because we had to find a restaurant outside of the mall…read moreto eat - which we did in Manhattan Beach ... Who doesn't want snow for Christmas? And who in Southern California is so ready for no more rain?! Well, we had no idea what awaited us when we made our booking online for Quest Room's Polar Station. For those new to the world of escape rooms, Quest Room is probably the gold standard by which all other rooms are measured, so much so we've done almost - ALMOST - all their rooms, as long as they accommodated two people, because we mostly play as a duo. So we were a little surprised that there was actually a location we had not visited - at South Bay Galleria in Redondo Beach - and more than thrilled that all their rooms welcome 2 players or more. The mall was closed on Christmas Day, so we were grateful to receive not just an email (went straight to the spam folder) but also a text from Quest Room letting us know this in advance, and also where to park. Quest Room was having some electrical problems, so the lobby was dimmer than usual, but we were oblivious to the difference, so excited were we to get started. We had watched (and I had read the book) The Terror on Netflix, and we were quite ready for our own Antarctic adventure. Ours was the first game of the day, and Jason introduced himself as our game host at 11am sharp. We did not need the restrooms this visit but it was offered along with a verbal run through of the game rules. In fewer words than the intriguing writeup on their web site, we "woke up" cold, sore and alive after our research plane crashed in snowy desolation in an abandoned station that we need to get working to call for help. This was like something out of "Yellowjackets" and elicited a similar "ooh!" when we saw the room. The décor was perfect, even with low light, but in theme, and the props were authentic with just the right amount of creep factor. There was no climbing or crawling required, and we wouldn't be concerned with playing the room with the whole family. Polar Station is what we consider a G3 (third generation room with quite a bit of whizzbang and FX) - with a couple of G1 locks, so even though we were advised ahead of time that some locks needed some dedicated (and delicate!) handling, it slowed us to our record-keeping time of ... 44:59 for the 45-minute room! We both agreed that our favourite task was opening the bathroom door and doing the wrapping needed - since it's Christmas! - and the rescue was epic. We felt most challenged with not remembering that we are in South Pole, not North, so crucial elements were topsy-turvy, but all the clues and puzzles were pretty logical and true to theme. Jason did a super job pacing us, and with our photos - which we received even before we got to our car - and we so appreciate his working on Christmas Day. Once again, even though Quest Room is maybe on the higher end as far as cost, they deserve every one of those five stars, both for the room and for our game host. Thank you for letting us have snow for Christmas! We can't wait to visit again in the new year! This review is triplicated on Yelp, Google and TripAdvisor.

I have motion sickness and Ican not ride 3D/4D rides without feeling queezy. I can not watch the classic Star Wars movie because it was too shaky for me. Hell, (spoilers) i didnt even know they blew up the death star because i couldnt watch the ending of the first movie! I can't do Star Tours, soaring over the world/california, spinning rides, playing first person shooter (fps) games...get the picture? I had to try this for myself to say if I truly can or can not do VR. There are "moving" elements in this VR game that can cause motion sickness. Standing still as your surroundings move is a major part of this very immersing game! You will also be going "up/down" ramps on a flat service, so that will throw off your equilibrium. Defying virtual physics is what Dennis explained. I had my ways to gain back my center and refocus as I was playing this game. If you wear glasses, please bring them, it will help! I thought I had mine, but I forgot it. The staff will help you get calibrated with the equipment and send you on your way. At one point, my vr set started to get blurry so I had a hard time seeing the enemies, but they were big enough to see when they're "five feet" in front of you, lol. It also got blurry because sweat was starting to form around my eyes. This is going to be a very lengthy review. First off, parking is a little confusing if you're not from the area. I had to circle three times to park on the same side as this venue. There is a parking structure on the opposite side of the street. All structures give you 90 minutes free without the need of validation. Then, it can go up to $25 for the maximum structure price. The venue is like the TARDIS. It's bigger on the inside, haha. The door remains locked, but they have a ring doorbell that contains a phone number to call for someone to come open the door for you. Talk about a personal greeting! When you first walk in, you have a set of stairs. They also have a handicap lift, so they are ADA compliant! Kudos! They have a row of stationery equipment that allows you to run/walk in place and turn. They also have a two-seater ride. They have 5 seatbelts that will strap you in for safety. One for each shoulder, one for your lap, and one each for your feet. They also have an overhead bar that you pull down as if youre actually on a Rollercoaster. If you ride the Rollercoaster one, you will get sick. You will experience the motion, but you won't get the effect (wind/air) of a moving vehicle. They have a wall of lights set as an aquarium as a little seated waiting area. They suggest optimum fun and experience, 6 to 8 people in your party. That is also how many guests can play in each area. They have two areas that are meant for 8 players, their pvp area and their main floor. Get this! They have an escape room, max is 6 players! I definitely want to come back and try this one! Another area is family friendly and is great for up to 6 people as well. Dennis explained to us that the reason this place has the word "World" in this establishment is because these rooms came from all over the place! I think he said the family friendly room was from china/taiwan/japan...etc.. so that's pretty cool! They have a little area where you can host a party, but it's not secluded, it's open to the public. This venue is open to the public and walk-ins are good, but you may have to wait. Dennis mentioned some guest had to wait 2-3 hours until their turn. The guest did leave a deposit to ensure their spot in line. So they suggest to book online to set up a reservation. Each gaming area is about a 30 minute session. You will sweat because you will be moving a lot. It is a workout! Only one sad note, I wish there was more air flow in the building. Because I have motion sickness, I needed fresh air to cool me down. This was a fun experience and I do intend on coming back!

We did the Murder in a London room which takes you back to 1889 where a murderer is on the loose in the dark alleyway of Victorian London. Started off with the alley and then the pub.
