Before I came here, I've been to one other different escape room location and didn't have too much…read morefun with it. This time I came, I came with my coworkers for a social gathering. I didn't really know what to expect before I came, as it was a long time ago since I went to my first escape room. But once we started, we had a lot of fun working together and figuring the stuff out. We did one of the fairly easy ones and we just made it out on time because we were stuck on one piece of the puzzle - but we did it! The staff was amazingly enthusiastic and encouraging, and did not push to give the hints when they saw we were almost getting it. It was definitely more satisfying solving the puzzle ourselves vs. through hints. The location was great - easy to do the room and grab a boba/coffee or dinner afterwards. I could say now that I am more open to escape rooms and I would recommend this location!

I've actually been to the other Maze Room for their Magic Tree and Lunar Mission rooms, which I also really enjoyed. But the set design for Alice perfectly embodied this dark fantasy aesthetic and was honestly so trippy, I genuinely felt like I was trapped in Wonderland and LOVED IT. The puzzles themselves were also so unique and interactive in contrast to the typical locks (not sure if there were any locks at all actually besides one bonus question). The overall ambiance is slightly creepy but nothing too scary - what's REALLY scary is how insanely well-made these rooms were. Our gamemaster (I wanna say his name was Max...) was manning two rooms simultaneously, and as someone who also has part-timed at an escape room, that's no easy feat but nonetheless did such an amazing job of immersing us into the world + had the funniest commentary that made the experience all the better. We escaped the Godzilla vs Kong room over this Labor day weekend (Sunday) and I unfortunately have…read moreto remove stars due to technical problems in the room, incorrect resetting of the room, and poor game master quality (Nico). All of which were very immersion breaking and ruined the experience. Spoilers ahead for the Godzilla vs Kong escape room. There was only 1 technical problem but it made the experience harder and awkward. There's a part where you have to put your ear up to seashells (a conch specifically) on the wall and there's a sensor that detects when something (your ear/head) blocks it or is near it which triggers a sound to play. The sensors weren't good. We ended up having to use a finger to block the sensor to get the audio to play. The incorrect resetting of the room and poor game master quality may go hand in hand so will address these together. There's a volcano where you need to get 5 oblong rocks to divert the flow of lava by placing them in a series of holes in the volcano. At the start, there were 3 rocks already in the holes in the volcano, 1 rock in this metal protruding section, and the 5th rock was actually missing. There are these 3 holes in the room you're supposed to stick your head in and look up. These spaces where you stick your head in were pretty big, maybe 3-4 feet of space between the hole and the floor/ceiling/back wall. The 5th rock was on the floor inside one of the holes; which is NOT where it was supposed to be because it's dark in the hole (you get no controllable light source) and it was out of reach. We ended up having to use our phone flashlights and a metal arm grabber (trash grabber) from the first room to get the rock out of the hole. The game master (Nico) confirmed it wasn't supposed to be in there because he blamed us for putting it in there. Which is a strange accusation because 1. It's very obvious that the rocks are meant for the volcano and 2. our group of four would've known if one of us dropped the rock in that hole. We're not competitive escape artists but we've done a lot of escape rooms and this was easily the worst and most unimmersive experience I've ever had. Which is unfortunate because the theme was cool and production quality seemed like it'd be high. With just a few changes they could have something great but at the moment I can't recommend this escape room.

We also weren't given updates about our remaining time and were rushed out when time was up without an explanation of how the room ended. We weren't offered a photo afterward either. I reached out to customer service about our experience but never received a response. We've had much better experiences at 60out and Escapology, so unfortunately, I wouldn't return.

All the escape room…read morewas immersive and that we are all transported to another dimension, I appreciate the live actors we had for Warlocked and Ressurrection, and we had the character help us with our journey. Our game master, Jason, was amazing and sold the story very well. This is located at the mall on the fourth floor, so make sure to park at the fourth floor if you are coming late at night. Will definitely bring my other friends along as the escape rooms are high in production.

We love how escape rooms now accommodate duos, and especially appreciate that rooms are now private, and we are able to be silly and competitive and immature with the people who matter. I mean, imagine being stuck on a schooner or deserted island with people you don't know - it would be a streaming series! Oh, wait ... Well, Back in Time is one of our favourite companies when it comes to escape rooms that are immersive and faithful to theme and story, but we're a little embarrassed to say that we were excited to try Blackbeard's Treasure because of a streamed show, excellent, though it be. Yes, we could have chosen to do this particular escape room because of the book(s), the movie, the theme park or the dinner adventure, but, no, it was Black Sails, just taken off that streaming service, that piqued our interest! The mall where we usually play Back in Time is under renovation, so we played our Friday afternoon game at their temporary space in a small strip mall not far away and just as easy to get to. Parking was good right outside at 3:30pm on Friday, which was their first game of day, and we arrived just about the same time as Harrison, our very enthusiastic game host, who had just escaped (haha) from the same traffic jam as we had. We were shown into the waiting room, and although this was not a permanent location, the lobby looked exactly as it did in the mall, and it was nice that the clean no-frills restroom was located at end of hallway inside the business instead of outside in the mall. Our entry into the game was heralded by a preview video which complemented what we knew about Blackbeard, especially fresh off Black Sails - but game (unlike TV series) was definitely family-friendly. The room was spacious for our duo, and would fit four in a group comfortably. On the whole, the room was a little dark, but the décor was in theme and music was ambient. Blackbeard's Treasure was a linear game, where most of the puzzles were one & done, even though there were some red herrings (of course, pirates ...). We categorise it as a 3G or third generation room, meaning it comprised a lot of use of magnets, but also a lot of nice old locks. Happily, there were no glitches at all, and everything worked to our success at 52:02. Our very favourite part of the game was being fired on by cannons, and although we wish we could understand the parrot - Captain Flint shore was purty! - we had no least favourite puzzles at all. Harrison was fantastic because she made sure we could read the clues on the in-room timer and clue screen when it was clear the bird was speaking in not an escape roomer's language! Everything made sense, and, once in the room, we didn't miss the mall at all. In fact, we took advantage of the promotion that allowed us to take photos in the room with props, and our gamemaster did a terrific job with both their camera (and thank you for getting the photo to us immediately!) and ours. It was a little more expensive, but worth it for the memories. This review has been posted on Google and Yelp.

It's very easy to mess but if you drive slowly, it is literally right next to the building. You turn in and there should be a wellness center on your left. Continue to go forward and turn left and the parking garage is there. It has multiple levels going down. It's typically about $1 for an hour and no they do not validate. There is free parking nearby in another garage but for a dollar to be able to walk up and be right there is much better in my opinion. When you arrive, you call the phone number on the front door and they come unlock the door to let you in the inside. Has multiple VR experiences aside from VR room itself. There are multiple spaces so more than one group could have an experience at the same time. Once you sign the waivers, they take you back to your space that is reserved and put the headsets on for you. After putting on the headset to your timer starts and you start your gaming experience. Pretty easy to understand instructions from the game guide. Just try your best not to walk into any walls and respect the boundaries. It's a lot of fun. Sometimes the airflow is not great so you definitely feel sweaty on your face but other times they'll turn on the fans and it feels good the whole time you're there. Definitely great for less active activity but still very engaging. They don't really explain the game to you and kind of leave you to figure it out on your own, but the games are not super complicated to understand. The game guides are pretty nice and quick to help out with technical issues. You cannot hear other games that are happening at the same time as you. They are there and the space is open, but VR headset quickly muffles out any other sound so it's very easy to focus on your own game. Great place if you don't have anything to do for an hour in the afternoon. And it's so close to the 3rd St Promenade that you can walk over and experience that when you're done. We typically like to walk over to Go Greek on Ocean Avenue afterward for a fun FroYo snack.

This location is cool because it is right next to beautiful waterfront. You will have to pay for…read moreparking, but it's $2 for 2 hours so you'll have more than enough time for the escape room and to explore the nearby shops. Our game master was very kind and patient with us. It seemed like he was the only staff member on duty at the time. Moreover, he had to step away for a few minutes during our room (he told us over the speaker.) I think he made up for it by giving us a few gentle nudges when we were confused without us having to wave to the camera for a hint. I have completed at least 20 escape rooms, and I have experienced low and high tech rooms. I completed the Demented Doctor Escape Room with my girlfriend with 16 minutes to spare, and it is the only room I have experienced at this location. Demented Doctor is definitely lower tech, which can be perfectly okay if it didn't have some hiccups. The sound cues/audio can be very quiet. The room uses very basic speakers that are tucked away. There were a few times that we did not know what was activated when we completed a step. It made it worse because our game master stepped away when it occurred. Thankfully, we found what opened without and later asked our game master if that's what opened which he confirmed. Our game master also had to prompt us with specific guidance for some steps because sensors/colors were buggy. He did his best to incorporate the reasoning into the lore, but it was still a little awkward. He himself admitted after we completed the rooms that some steps are very finicky so he has to tell all players to do a specific thing otherwise a lot of time could be wasted. Overall, 3/5. I think this location needs to revamp their tech and put more resources into the immersion and atmosphere of the room. It needs more tender love and care.

Full day parking was only 8.00. There were two groups from our party. We were here to celebrate someone's birthday. One group did the Murder in London room while the other group did the Demented Doctor. You start off with scanning with the QR code to sign a waiver. From there, the explanation of what to expect and instructions. Once that was finished, we were escorted to the room which was through a hallway. There were a couple room all near each other. We did the Murder in a London room which takes you back to 1889 where a murderer is on the loose in the dark alleyway of Victorian London. Started off with the alley and then the pub. Clues are scattered throughout the pub as well as hidden all through the alleyway. Just keep an eye out as things are hidden all over the place. Or course you have to work together to figure out the clues to continues on to the next room. It was quite interesting but the fact that the timer is also in the room makes it more difficult as that's what is running through your head. We need to survive this room. You have the pub, there was phone booth, secret rooms that you need to continue through. Finish one task to continue to the next. The excitement of getting the clue for the next level was amazing. Depending on what room, the difficulty level varies. You can ask for clues which is a major plus. We actually finished the room and escape in the nick of time. Seeing the host come in with the signs to congratulate us was amazing. We did it, I escape the room. There's loads of escape room literally everywhere. As this was my first, I can say I had an amazing time with my group. There's a few rooms at this location and it varies with times.
