Literally the best jiujitsu gym in LA! Both Alexis and Gustavo Fonseca (gym owners, brothers, and black belts) are the kindest and friendliest dudes. I'm so grateful I have the opportunity to train here. Everyone is so very friendly and welcoming, and the jiujitsu is very technical but explained in a very easy to comprehend way. Can't say enough good things about this gym and everyone in it. The space is clean and well taken care of. Love being part of the Autore fam read more

Autore BJJ is a top-tier jiu jitsu academy in Brentwood. The folks that frequent this academy are also fantastic, a great bunch of guys and girls who are very friendly, and just like the instruction - range from a variety of ambitions, styles, etc. although all are very friendly and supportive. read more

My first time. Honestly I'm glad it was here. I was immediately welcomed at the door. In less than a minute I was given a kimono that fit perfectly. Gustavo the trainer was very cool. Walking me through each step and move. He introduced me to the Americana and the Kimura. I felt very comfortable in his presence and I was able to perform both moves wile sparring for the first time in BJJ. All and all an amazing experience. read more

Alexis, Gustavo, Alfrie, Audrey and the crew have been absolutely incredible to my son. We love it here and I cannot thank them enough for the incredible culture and community that we are now a part of. My son has not only improved his jiujitsu skills, he has become more focused, self disciplined, confident and outgoing. Hands down best money I have ever spent on my child. read more

My son loves it here! The owners, along with their instructors, have created the perfect environment for kids to excel at this sport. I feel incredibly lucky to have found this studio! It's also worth mentioning that the space itself is great, with an open layout and an abundance of natural light. read more

Alexis, Gustavo and team are very welcoming. The classes are run very efficiently and on a tight schedule. The gym has a nice and open feel, the window and door creates a nice cross breeze. My partners were all very nice and training was good. There was a variety of levels in the class so it's good for beginners to advanced students. On a personal note, it's to my advantage that the first class is slightly later so I can take care of my responsibilities before class. Getting into Brentwood can be somewhat challenging when there is traffic - so far, the parking has been ok. If you're on the westside, this place is definitely worth checking out. read more

Just a visitor passing through town. Didn't know much about Autore or it's lineage until after the fact. Been training jiujitsu for almost 8 years, and I can be honest with myself, I'm not a quick learner. I require many repetitions and an annoying amount of questions to the teacher about who, what, when, how, and why. I spent three days at Autore and attended several classes per day in the gi, and No gi (which I'm terrible at.) Professor Gustavo emphasized his approach teaching Brazilian Jiujitsu that was digestible to the student. He is able to articulate and demonstrate concisely. I left adding jiujitsu techniques that I use and execute in live rounds! Come check this place out. Thank you Coaches! read more

This hidden gem in east Hollywood is a haven for anyone who is interested in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Gustavo and Alexis have cultivated a welcoming environment that makes practitioners of all levels and body types feel safe and at home. One thing that drew me to the gym was regular attendance of other female BJJ practitioners. It can sometimes be challenging to find consistent female training partners, but that isn't an issue here at Autore. I can see why people of all types visit and stay--it doesn't take long to notice how invested they are in their students progress from the technical instruction to detailed feedback they provide during drilling and live rounds. Highly recommend to anyone, especially women, looking for a place to train in the area. read more

Professor Gustavo and Alexis have created a wonderful culture that is open to newcomers and focused on self-betterment. If you've trained jiu jitsu before then you know that choosing a gym is all about choosing a culture. The Professors at Autore are always smiling and interested in getting to know their students at a personal level. As a newcomer, I could immediately feel the kind energy as students introduced themselves to me. I am staying in LA on the west side and choose to drive every day 45 minutes to this gym because the atmosphere is so fun and relaxed, and importantly the instruction is top notch. The mats are also indeed always clean. Although I live in NYC full time, I am tempted to stay in LA for a long time in the future to train here as I imagine that I would develop very quickly here under Professor Gustavo and Alexis' instruction! read more

I trained in Michigan for 2 years and then moved out to LA recently and was looking for an academy to train at. I found Autore through Yelp and then checked out their IG back in August 2022 and immediately knew I wanted a membership there after my first drop in. Everyone is super welcoming and the instructors do amazing job at teaching. Gu and Lex go above and beyond for their students and elaborate on the movements during partner drills. Definitely recommend this place to train at! read more

I just left from a training session here and liked it so much I had to come home and write a review! I had heard such good things about Gustavo and Alexis from the bjj environment that I really wanted to come by to meet and take a class with them. What a great place to train as the head instructors/owners/brothers are first and foremost great people with such positive energy which really shows. They have really created an amazing training environment here due to this as it sort of spreads to the other students by nature. The instruction is top notch as they pay great attention to detail with helping students during class. Everyone was very friendly and welcoming here and had a mix of beginner to advanced students in class which was also co-ed. I highly recommend coming by and trying a free class as you will not be dissapointed. read more

I came to Autore after hearing my long time friend and teammate began coming here since the grand opening. After seeing his development and change in style, I was so impressed that I had to come and see what Autore was all about. Professor Gustavo and Alexis were very friendly and welcoming when I first met them and I had a very positive vibe after talking with them. With such a big class, they were still able to come around and gave every student their undivided attention to make sure they were able to understand the techniques. They provide high quality instructions that blends modern and traditional jiu-jitsu. After training jiu-jitsu for awhile now, I would think that I would understand my game by now. But, after learning from the professors, they definitely complimented my jiu-jitsu to a whole new level! Nonetheless! the training partners here are top notch and will give you a good pace when it comes to rolling. You will definitely sweat and get a good workout with these guys. read more

In my line of work, I tend to travel a lot. Speaking from the heart, it's a gift and a curse. The gift of traveling is being able to train at different gyms and gaining a true understanding of jiu-jitsu. Jiu-jitsu does not have a skin color, a race, a language or a religion. The curse comes from being on the road a lot and missing out on time with loved ones. Family is irreplaceable, so I'm extremely thankful that here at Autore BJJ, I feel at home. The professors here don't simply teach jiu-jitsu, they share with you their love, their passion and their dedication of jiu-jitsu. With their experience, they are able to break down each move, making it easy to understand. This place is truly an elite gym that births champions! read more
