At first I thought this was two little time but after going up the wall several times I learned that 45 minutes was plenty. We worked with the shop to provide us a quick lesson and the belayer. He was awesome and totally supportive for us first timers! We appreciated his chill approach and support. We had so much fun, we will definitely be back for more fun and experiences!

I used 2 before I had to move to the city. When I called recently, they still had my info and told me my passes were NOT expired!?!?! I'm so grateful I held onto the barcode they gave me back then. Anyways, this location is very accessible. Lots of parking available. They have a small joint locker room available if you want to put some stuff away, but most people here just leave their stuff in the lobby or carry it with them. This is not like a Touchstone gym where guys and girls have their own locker and shower, but they have the basic necessities for a climbing gym. This specific location is more for belaying than it is for bouldering. I was hoping to coach some friends through a few easy routes, but there were maybe 3 v0's and 2 v1's. I had to throw my friends right into the deep end with some v2's and v3's. The routes felt a bit short too. They seem to make up for that here by making the starting points very low. There are definitely way more routes for belaying and the routes there go very high. I'd probably get certified just to belay here. It's just a shame that they spent so much effort for belaying, but couldn't make the routes a bit higher for bouldering.

It was my family's last week here in the US, and we've been climbing here for the last two summers…read morewith little issue. The staff *before* was quite friendly. I've been/was climbing for 7 years and have a good amount of belaying experience. Further, the routes are not very inclusive in terms of height at higher V levels, and do not contain as much variety. The lead/top rope walls are extremely short and barely qualify, around 15m tall. You would be better off going to Sender One in Westwood, that has a BIG variety of problems from competition to fun dynamic routes, finger strength heavy, slabs, and more (excuse my horrible description). The test was unnecessarily difficult in the sense that they need you to "describe" the knot as some "parallel lines" rather than acknowledging being able to tie it properly, due to some language barriers which prevented me from describing it properly. They only accept the "PBUS" belaying during the test, and disregards what they call the "Yosemite belaying method," which they allegedly only use outdoors?? They do not specify beforehand what sort of belaying method they wanted, and provided little information as to why when asked "we just do it that way". It is also odd because a more experienced employee has and had accepted the other format. Inconsistent. I have also been able to get the belaying license the first time round (2 years ago) using the "Yosemite belaying method." This method is the most widespread in Asia, with all belayers (coaches, climbers/friends) alike uses it. They do have a kilter board?, which can be interesting as you have access to an unlimited amount of routes which I don't see often in other gyms. There's some sort of small gym upstairs with weights, cardio equipment, and space for recovery which is convenient and comfortable to use. Bathrooms are always clean and spacious which is nice.

It was almost all incline, like no joke. Our dog was so tired (She's young and only two.) she quit walking at one point refusing to move! Another disappointment was that we weren't even able to get to the grotto area, which involved some rock climbing, because we had our dog.‍ With that said, however, the view was spectacular, and it was a great hike (going to the grotto, not on our way back!). I loved the streams and watching the tadpoles! (I don't remember the last time I'd seen tadpoles,) It was wonderful to experience such beautiful nature not so far from the middle of the city. To sum it all up; the full hike is highly recommended for people who are fit. But, I'd say to the people who aren't that fit (like us!), just to enjoy the hike up to the first stream and waterfall then turn back. You'd not enjoy the hike coming back from the grotto!

Windy road for those with motion sickness issues be aware. Parking is free, there's a toilet and water fountain to fill bottles as well. There's 2 ways you can go, this hike is a loop. We started off going west down hill past the little lodge with the pay phone. Once you get to picnic tables down the trail you'll see a fence, go past the fence and down continue on the trail. You'll get to boulders and there is the grotto! This trail is pretty toddler friendly however, we did not take our toddler down to the grotto Due to the fact that there is bouldering involved, and at one point, there's a rope that you need to be able to "climb"to get down into the grotto area. The friends we went with were able to go, and they said that it was very cool down there and definitely worth the hike. Some people said that they spotted rattlesnakes we didn't see any however.

Otherwise, you can buy a day pass for around $35 or a membership, ranging from $89 for students to $100+ for regular members. Check their website for the most accurate pricing. They have bouldering classes as well as an entire yoga studio for personal use or classes. They also have a small fitness room with weights. Being a brand new space, it's super clean and beautifully organized. Lots of cubbies to store your stuff or you can use their lockers for free if you bring your own lock. Gender neutral restrooms and showers are available. Merch is also for sale. Rental gear comes with your pass but you can also bring your own stuff. The best part? The staff!!! I was greeted by Hannah who gave me a personal tour of the facility and recommended beginner routes to me. She remembered my name and would check in throughout the visit to see how it was going. Super nice!! If you want to save time, fill out their waiver in advance. You will also need to fill out an orientation form if it's your first time. I'm excited to get the most out of my 5 punch pass, which lasts 2 months! Only suggestion is I wish they would offer cheaper day passes for students or EBT card holders similar to how Cliffs of Id charges $10/day for EBT card holders. The membership allows you to visit all Sender One gyms - which is great if you can get there. However for many college students without cars I think there would be a lot of interest in a Westwood Only membership for a lower price. As someone who doesn't have a car, it is unlikely that I'll be able to use the other Sender One gyms which limits me to this facility and makes the $89/month for just bouldering not as worthwhile. Something for management to consider!! I am also not sure what a "visit" entails; for a day pass, can you leave and come back? If so, that would definitely make it more worth the money (i.e. yoga class in the morning and climbing at night).

Give the recent fires, I am very grateful that they were able to extend my pass for a few weeks. At the time of visit, I wished that I could have gotten a tour of the facilities being a first-time visitor. Finding the restroom took a while as I was not expecting a gender-inclusive restroom. It's not a large location, but the orange walls make it easy to get lost. There's also a small room with a few pieces of gym equipment. What's impressive is how CLEAN the entire facilities is, which in my opinion is difficult for climbing gyms in general. As mentioned, the Westwood location is a rather smaller one. Neither hits nor the Playa Vista location had belay and rope, only bouldering. The grading here was fairly diverse, though it did not feel there were too many routes compared to Hangar 18. A Saturday morning before noon felt rather quiet, but noticeably more people startled trickling in around noon. Like most gyms, there is an events calendar, and I really enjoyed the different group events that are offered. I really wished that there would have been closer parking, though - and free or options with validation. Their website lists many locations, but most of them will come at a premium in the evening.

Point Dume is a beautiful coastal trail that overlooks a turquoise blue ocean. The trail isn't very…read morelong, but it's well worth exploring simply for its location and incredible views. You can head up the hill to a vista point, while at the bottom of the hill there's another trail that leads you all the way down to the beach. The trail leading to the beach is sandy rather than dirt or rock, but it's easy to navigate since the sand isn't very deep. As you approach the beach, there's a vista point overlooking a rock climbing wall, where you'll often see climbers. There are also steps down to another beach near the beginning of the trail. It's worth the trek down and up the steps. There is also a surf area here. Parking is scarce, so you'll likely have to park in the surrounding neighborhood. There are also almost always seals to watch down below from the trail, which adds to the experience. I highly recommend this trail. It's a relatively short hike with beautiful coastal scenery, beach access, and some of the best ocean views in the area.

It has everything you need for a quick and high quality bouldering session. The walls aren't high but their grade feels a bit more challenging, which sort of makes up for the size of the space. Place, it's in the heart of the plaza that literally has so many things if you want to grab a bite, do some grocery shopping, or even ice cream after a good session. Also, the gym is small but it doesn't really get crowded to actually feel small. As for parking, plenty of self parking around the neighborhood. But they also have a paid parking lot called the Runway, which can be validated by Sender One for 90 minutes.

Find street parking on Ethel for free or get a day pass, which is a couple bucks, to park on campus.

A new favorite hike of mine mainly for the destination, not the actual trail. The trail itself is…read moreactually pretty tough even thought it's only 8-10 miles round trip depending on where you start. There are a lot of rocks to walk over, and few river/creek crossing to go through that also have slippery rocks to walk over, and even though the inclines aren't the biggest I've ever done on a hike, the combo of hiking through rocks and sandy parts of the trail can wear you down throughout the hike so it gets more challenging as you go on. To stay on the trail without wandering over to the nearby dry creek keep an eye out for the pink paintball shots and white and black arrows pointing you to the right direction. Also the All Trails app map worked great in offline mode to stay on track with the path. As tiring as this hike was the water fall and punch bowl areas absolutely made this hike worth it. The only downside to the hike are the people that come due to the popularity of the trail and leave their trash and water bottles all over the place. Besides that this should be a buck list hiking spot for anyone that loves hiking adventures.
