I usually preserve my energy for writing reviews, only for vendors/services that offer exceptional service, not to mention that it pains me to disparage a female owned business, but I was so abhorred by the service I received at the Marietta location earlier this week that I consider it a community service to write this review. I was aiming to be a first time consigner and entered the facility with what I thought was a positive attitude to partner with a business that seems to generally have a decent reputation. Not sure whether it was just the Monday afternoon blues or the recent election cycle reinforcing the lack of decorum in America or the recent full moon, or any manner of things, but I was met with immediate attitude and disrespect by the oversized, poorly styled, older white woman who was coming on shift between 2:30-3:00pm on Monday, 2nd December at the Marietta location. She spoke to me poorly, rummaged through my belongings angrily, and for no obvious reason (to me, anyway), seemed to be disgusted by my very presence. I am truly shocked that a business about image and fashion that should be in the business of customer service and local/community partnership choose to maintain staff who seem to be in full image and attitude contradiction to what I would imagine they are intending to portray. I 100% do not recommend doing business with these people and only regret that designating negative stars is not an option in this instance. read more

This is my second time stopping into Back By Popular Demand while visiting from out of town. The selection and price for pieces at this consignment store cannot be beat! The staff is very friendly and the flow of the store makes for an enjoyable experience. I have left with pieces from Madewell, Loft, Abercrombie, and Banana Republic. Some items even have original tags still attached! There is a section with designer brands including Ted Baker and the Kate Spade purses are stunning. The best part is - BBPD bucks to use for your next visit and no expiration. Consignment is one of my favorite ways to shop and BBPD is one store you can't miss! read more

The website could be more descriptive, but I took a chance on the condition and colorway and it was exactly what I was looking for. The establishment has merit. A consignment store with two locations! There is some disconnect with items dropped off to be accepted pieces are in good repair, fashionable still, clean & worthy of resale. That is a necessary determination! I would recommend listing, maybe taking a photo of each of your items before dropping them off for scrutiny. Make sure you UPDATE your own list, note the color of the item& the label. It appears there is confusion on color description & 3 times items have not been included on the list BBPD sends you to confirm acceptance. Call immediately and while you may have to leave a message, at least you have made an attempt to right the discrepancy. In the store in East Cobb, staff are very pleasant and helpful. There are $ coupons you receive when you become a clothing consignor, your email & a designated password is part of the consigning process. There are MANY STAFF members behind the scenes that rummage through your items at the time of drop off. Don't hang items on hangers, no shoes in shoe boxes, simply load all into shopping bags for travel. Happy Consigning! read more

I took a bag of items to this location to sell. I left for a few minutes because the store associate said it would take awhile for the manager to look over the clothes. When I returned to the store, my bag of clothes and shoes were on the floor where the customers stand to check out. The store associate had picked out two dresses and a pair of pants with tags on them out. Those were clothes I never wore. She offered me $16.00. I declined. The store had a large variety of items for sale. It was full of stuff! Many of the items I found overpriced so I didn't buy anything. read more

I've been consigning my clothes at the Marietta location for years. It used to be both an enjoyable shopping and consigning experience. There has been a huge shift the last couple years. Sadly every time I come in, it's been anything but welcoming. The employees that actually take the consignments have been so rude and watch as I struggle to open the door and carry in clothes. Helping by opening a door is common curtesy or a simple hello greeting is not difficult. My friends that I referred to the store have had the same experience as I have and refuse to ever consign their clothes with them which is sad for the store as they have all designer, in excellent condition pieces. What these employees fail to see is this is a win/win scenario- they aren't doing US a favor. Both the store and the consignor are making money. It's not difficult to be kind, respectful and helpful. I'm done with this place as there are many other consignment stores that are kind while making it a pleasant experience. I hope the owner reads this so she's aware of how her employees treat customers. read more

No COVID protection here. Store does not respect their customers and each other as they do not wear masks and won't put one on when requested. Must be new owners and lots of attitude. Crap laying all over the floor and a tripping hazard. Feels like a thrift store and disorganized. This is not your typical clean and organized East Cobb business. Do not consign here! (Particularly the East Cobb Store). The owner is dishonest!! Policy says you can only get items back over $50. They give you the run around when you are trying to retrieve them. They are extremely reluctant to return items they want to keep in the stores. In September 2013, I was told some items were in storage until winter stuff would be out. Then when I went back in November, was told they were at the other store in Lilburn by another person. And they couldn't find them because the store was so big. Another time, they were back in storage. Another time, someone tried to steal them or remove tags and they have video footage that they won't show me. I could go on. Each time, Kim, her manager, or some other sales person would tell me they would look and call me when the item was retrieved. NEVER ONCE GOT A CALL BACK!!!! This has been going on for 8-9 months now. Melissa, the owner, is UNSCRUPULOUS & rude. If the owner won't address your concerns, who will? I spoke with her unknowingly almost a month ago. She told me she would look for my items in the store and in the meantime, I could shop. While I shopped, I saw her trying to leave. I tried to approach her but she basically ran out the door. Enter Kim, who is nothing short of patronizing and repeatedly rude to customers. Have had numerous conversations with customers and staff about her attitude to no avail. Who calls a paying customer, "Hun?" When I asked her to stop, she pejoratively snaps back, "okay 'ma'am'!" So I ask her "where did the woman go who was helping me and who was looking for my items?" She says that was the owner and said she would leave a note for her to look tomorrow when she came back & someone would call me. There are ongoing issues with items not being returned as was promised, poor customer service, missing items, dissatisfied customers, accounts not being properly credited. I am not the only one to experience these issues. Many have had similar experiences. A week goes by & I call. Kim passes the phone off to another sales person. She's got no clue what's going on and I have to rehash. I am furious and at this point trying to retrieve not just the few pieces I have left but everything because something shady is going on and I can't get any answers. I'm told that salesperson will contact Melissa herself at home, Lilburn store and on her cell. I'm told she works in east Cobb on Fridays and come in if I can if possible. I ask that I please at least get a return call by her specifically. RADIO SILENCE!!! Another week goes by and I call back. Kim answers phone: "Yeah Hun. What do you need? Yeah Melissa told me to work on it. I've been busy." Me: "You told me she was going to work on it." Kim: "No Hun, she left a note for me to do it." I tell her I need a call back and either a check or my items returned. Kim returns call and leaves message: "I have a check here that's been here two days. Actually there is two. I will put them in the mail today. Two of the four items are sold and the other two are in storage and you can come back in August to retrieve them." AUGUST??? I've been trying since September. She failed to mention they were partial checks for my share of the items, not the full value which would have been the right thing to do after all these months considering I have be I go next day & ask for mgr and get the side-eye when she realized she's cornered. She proceeds to tell me I'm over reacting, nothing is being withheld or hidden....& then weaves a new tale of how she was there when someone attempted to switch tags or remove them and make the purchase but that she was at the register and knew the price was wrong. She claimed to catch it on video but when I asked to review the tape, was told no due to privacy laws. After 15 minutes in back, she returns saying that checks were issued (again fails to mention it's for only my share of missing items) and that was the best she could do. I said I wanted the items over the money. She declined because she was unaware of their whereabouts. I had also recently brought in two items and she mentioned she would at least give those two items back. I had to leave and said I would return the next day for them. I proceeded to leave and then post a message on a local closed forum on FB. Within 30 minutes, there was a voicemail from Melissa saying I was defaming her store and that they have a missing ticket account for missing items until she could find who the items belonged to. If that was the case, how did she miraculously know the price of my item during the whole SUPPOSED ticket swap debacle? Melissa and Kim need to get their stories straight! And should treat customers right so that they aren't being spoken about on social media. It should not take that for any action to be taken! read more

Typically I visit the other Back By Popular Demand location in Lilburn, but after seeing a handbag they posted on their Facebook page, I made the trek out to Marietta to check it out in person. Although this location is a bit smaller than the Lilburn location (hard not to be - the Lilburn store is the largest consignment shop I've ever seen), they still manage to squeeze a lot of good merchandise in without making it feel overcrowded or difficult to navigate. The selection of designer handbags and shoes, in particular, is pretty impressive. I did not end up buying the purse, sadly, but the sales staff was incredibly helpful and didn't mind spending some time showing me several options and making suggestions. When you add in store bucks ($1 in future store bucks for every $20 purchased) and occasional sales (like their Black Friday 20% discount), BBPD is an excellent value and a very pleasant shopping experience. read more

When in the store, the customer service is fantastic. All employees are there to help you even on the busiest of days. They work so hard, in a very difficult to please people job. They all rock! You make no money when you take your clothes there for consignment. They do not give you any of your items back if they are not priced over $49; therefore they will not price anything over $49. Total ripoff. read more

I must say that I over love BBPD, the owner Melissa and her wonderful staff. I've purchased quite a few things from the Marietta store, one of the items being a Louis Vuitton keep all purse. After having the purse for about a month, one of the handles broke. I was a little distraught because I had just paid a few hundred dollars for this purse. I called the store and asked to speak with the manager/owner. She wasn't available but I was given her email address to reach out to her. I emailed Melissa and she responded within 24 hours. I told her what happened and she didn't hesitate to express her empathy and offer me a portion of my money back to get the handle fixed. I can admit that I didn't expect anything since you know, it's a CONSIGNMENT STORE but she will always have a customer in me because she stood by her product and did her best to make sure I felt whole again. read more

Consignment does NOT get any better than this. I've been consigning with Melissa for years, both at her Lilburn and Marietta locations (she's the owner of Back by Popular Demand in both cities), and she is - simply - the best. This is why her stores are consistently featured in the media-- the AJC just did a big spread on her unmatched prom selection. I love to see hard-working, persistent, committed individuals like Melissa get the coverage and accolades they deserve! Why do I like to consign with Melissa? Her knowledge of brands and their value is unmatched; I always feel like she gives me a fair value. I've never had any issues getting paid by her. In fact, she's the ONLY consignment store I will consign with now. Her staff have always been courteous, helpful and knowledgable, as well. My only complaint about my experience is that I always find more items to purchase than I can afford. :) If you want to get first dibs on her inventory of designer labels, follow BBPD on Facebook. They post new items pretty much daily, and you can nab 'em by paying over the phone if you see something you like. The LV particularly goes quickly...but you can score it for upwards of 50% off retail -- just another thing that makes BBPD the best. read more

I love this place. Its my go-to boutique when I need to spice up my wardrobe or find a new outfit for a special occasion. I always want to take so many fabulous items home with me when I shop here. I've never been more pleased with the prices of "used" clothes. Example: I recently bought a Michael Kors cream colored sweater coat with a fur trimmed collar for $39.99. It appeared as though it had never been worn. I'm guessing this piece would cost someone $150 or so at the mall. I get compliments on everything I buy here. read more

I love this store! I've been shopping here for about 2 years now and my wardrobe has slowly been transformed into all BBPD clothes. The staff is always very friendly and helpful... always willing to give advice and help you choose flattering outfits. The clothing quality is very nice and you get what you pay for. I really like how they will host special sales from time to time and give you store credit "bucks" that you can save up toward future purchases. I like the big selection at the store--and the prices are good over all. What was not good a good experience was going into the store with over the 10 items required in an attempt to open an account to sell my clothes on consignment. Not only was the manager (or sales person) unfriendly, she immediately started putting clothes in different piles, without explaining what she thought of the items. I had to ask her why some were in different piles--i.e. what is being rejected? She told me some of the labels were too old! Hmmm. Most of items she put aside I have hardly worn and the labels were fine. The 5 items (clothes and shoes) that she accepted were put in a pile and I was told to come back with 5 more acceptable items and take the 5 home. Her attitude was really lousy and snooty. I SHOP there and told her that, but she didn't seem to care. I won't go in again and she needs some training in dealing with customers. Not impressed. read more

I've been shopping here a while and love it. I just got hooked on their live Facebook feeds via "Online Consignment VIP" and purchased 2 Lily Pulitzer blouses at about 1/2 price. I'd never pay full price and I love the style. Responded to the live feed with my email and they shipped them to me! Got some great Prada shoes that way too! read more

Customer service has been slowly going downhill at the East Cobb location, but my last visit really took the cake. I wanted to open an account, so I brought in 30 or so items (mostly nice business casual, no suits). As per their guidelines, everything was within the past two years, clean, and most of it was brands listed on their website. The employee behind the counter (dressed in a thin tank-top and cut-off shorts) combed over every piece, then LECTURED me on how women don't dress business-casual for work anymore, because they all wear jeans and khakis and t-shirts so they can be comfortable in the workplace. LOL WAT. If I showed up to the office in jeans and a t-shirt, I'd be sent home in a hot minute!! Shorts Lady just kept repeating "Women don't want to dress up for work anymore, no one is buying this stuff." If it's not what your store is looking for, just SAY that, there's no reason to be insulting and rude. On TOP of that, I found several pieces of clothing with obvious holes and stains. I saw one customer bring an item up to the counter and point out a hole. Shorts Lady apologized and took it, but the second that customer left the store, she put it right back on the rack! Forget this place. Either make the schlep to the Lilburn location (haven't been, but heard it's really nice), or head over to the Revive in Smyrna (REALLY great customer service). read more
