Of all the product I brought in, they took one shirt and paid me $7. I had Ralph Lauren slacks, shirts, and a lot of other excellent quality items. That $7 didn't even pay for the gas to drive there. Many still have tags attached to them. Both myself and my sister (who now lives in New York) come here to shop versus shopping in New York, Paris, etc. For vintage clothing. The prices are so good and so is the quality of the clothing. I go still now at least once a month and every time I go in, it's almost like the entire store has new inventory from when I was there before. And the inventory is quality not cheap clothing like we find today all over the Internet. I actually will sell there as well if I need to get rid of something and I always make money. I used to buy clothing for the film industry, and this is one of the places I would check out. If you're in the Kennesaw area this store across from Town center mall and it's amazing. Some of my favorite fines have been vintage coach purses in perfect condition, suede jackets, vintage lingerie, vintage concert T-shirts, designer shoes, a Versace dress, vintage Ralph Lauren items, belts (I think I am addicted to belts), and lots of great Anthropologie pieces. Their staff is also amazing and a lot of them have been there for years.

I read through the reviews, good and bad, and believe there is an element of truth to each of them…read more A lot of very nice items come through the donation door and, after pricing, are placed on the floor at reasonable prices, making the Thrift House a good place to hunt for the unexpected. The experience with staff and volunteers may be hit or miss. Some of very good. Others not. Several years ago I volunteered regularly and enjoyed both my placement in the back room pricing donations and working on the floor with customers. I have witnessed both the manager being very kind to a person in need and the men working the cash register being rather unfriendly. Back then the paid staff did not appear to have been hired with a nod toward good customer service. I doubt if the hiring practices have changed based on a recent visit. While shopping, I ended up helping an older gentleman because the person at the counter was unnecessarily curt when asked a simple question like where-would-I-find-a- book? One assumes the staff member's mannerisms toward this older gentleman had nothing to do with race, as they were both older men of the same ethnic background. It just is what it is. One can't be overly sensitive when shopping at the Thrift House. I am surprised to read that a service dog was not welcomed, but the writer of that review failed to clarify if the dog was a trained service dog with documentation and whether or not the dog was wearing a vest. Even I would be surprised if the dog was turned away in those circumstances. When donating, be aware that donations coming from households with cats are discarded, per the manager, who appears to have a personal dislike of those furry creatures. (Cat hair is the dead give away, so wash anything well before donating if you have a cat.) I don't go to thrift shops often, but when I do, I start at the Thrift House. I also donate there. Normally, the staff is not overly fussy, just not welcoming, and the finds are worth any rudeness one might experience.

The store was a little warm, but there was a fan circulating at the front of the store. I noticed that the window had words "50% off clothing" so I asked the employee about it and she said that the discount applies to most colors. Like other thrift stores they have things tagged with different colors. At the time, I believe red & white tags were excluded from the sale. The clothing included things for kids, women and men and I did see a bit of seasonal swimwear and handbags and wallets. The clothing items had signs for pricing before any discounts, but I did not see any pricing for the handbags and wallets on a sign. I did not see much in the plus size women's section that I liked, so my visit was pretty short. The dressing rooms were open an I consider that a plus because some thrift stores don't open their dressing rooms. Overall, the experience was okay.

Most of the vendors seem to have modern, semi-modern items, or crafts/modern collectibles. I did find some nice china pieces, but they were not antique in the least. The store obviously can't tell vendors how much they can charge for their items, but I found some things to be outrageously expensive. A couple yards of stained fabric for 25 bucks, a nearly destroyed basket for almost 40 bucks, a broken stoneware jug for 50 bucks. It made the experience a lot less enjoyable. However, I will say the staff are phenomenal, and the store is clean as a whistle. I'll be back to browse, if nothing else. It's a fun way to spend an afternoon.
