This place makes no sense. It's so badly laid out. Not comfortable. Needs to be updated and remodeled. There's like a random gross yoga room. And a bunch of other random rooms. I wanted to leave as soon as I walked in. I need a shower. Rude receptionist. The adjustment room was like a child's play room. Old equipment in a tiny room. Prior to going to see Dr. Hsu, I had mid back pain that I couldn't explain. It felt like it was bruised, but had no sign of bruises. My boyfriend was finally able to convince me to see a Chiropractor. I made a call and Dr. Hsu was able to fit me into his schedule. He had this awesome 3D computer program that helped me understand what exactly was causing the back pain. Dr. Hsu used Cold Laser Therapy on my back and a couple weeks later, I was back to normal. I somehow managed to pull my neck out of alignment just by washing my car, and again I went to see Dr. Hsu. After a few visits, I was painfree. The office staff is very nice and the office is very clean. Overall: Dr. Hsu has done wonders on my FIRST visit! What can I say? I'm actually looking forward to my next chiropractic visit! I've been seeing a chiropractor for 3 years now, but of recent I didn't feel like they were doing much for me. Although my lower back issues were controlled; my upper back /neck had started to give me trouble, to the point where it was affecting my sleep. Therefore, I was on the lookout for a new doc. This is where Yelp came to the rescue! There were four, genuine-looking, five-starred reviews for back 2 health - how could I not try them? I had the first consultation this Saturday at 8 AM, which lasted about 1 hour. On arriving, the receptionist was friendly and helpful. After a few pieces of paperwork, I went into see Dr. Hsu (who has his own "adjustment" room, unlike my previous doc). He was warm, friendly, clear and concise. He was informative, without being condescending. We first discussed what my main problems were and background. Then I did the usual range of motion tests. Apparently, I'm more flexible than the average person, but with one difference, limited neck rotation. My posture was then checked. A warning, Dr. Hsu is very hands-on and firm, but in a good way. For a good part of the last three years, I was told that my posture was good. Dr. Hsu told me otherwise. Apparently, you can practice good posture, but your body will just go back to the position of least resistance. I could be going for chiropractic adjustments and massages until the cows come home (which I had been), but nothing was going to really help until I strengthened my muscles. I then had four x-rays to check my neck and upper thoracic region. The x-rays were processed and discussed immediately, which was great. My scoliosis was still very apparent, and my neck was lacking its curve. Dr. Hsu relaxed my neck/shoulder muscles with a massager and a gel - whoa, this was good! Then he adjusted my lower, upper back and my neck. This guy is pretty forceful when he does the adjustments, but again, in a good way. As soon as I got up, it felt like I was a new person. My neck and shoulders seemed to have freed up, and I could move again - it was ridiculous! I would never have believed anyone, if they told me I would feel such a difference from my first visit! But it's true. I had a nap when I got home - it was the best sleep that I had in months! He indicated my healing process was to involve numerous therapies and strengthening exercises. Initially, my 30 minute sessions would be once a week, for eight weeks. If you have a Microsoft Prime card, you can get a free 1 hour massage with your consultation. After that, you get a 30 minute massage included in your therapy session... oh, I could get used to that! Another good thing about Dr. Hsu, is that he promotes healthy living by eating a well-balanced/nutritious diet, and non-drug based therapy, with no new-fangled diet, or pill-popping - what else could you ask for? Dr. Austin Hsu is a top-notch Chiropractor and quite possibly the best health-care practitioner (in any field) I've ever been to. I'm so glad I found Dr. Hsu. I am a reluctant patient - it takes a lot to get me to actually make an appointment for anything - but my back had been spasming for two weeks with nasty shooting pain in my hip that muscle relaxants didn't touch, so I decided to suck it up and find a chiropractor. I checked my insurance to see who was in network, and to my surprise, I found Dr. Hsu just one block from my office. I made a same day appointment for 5:30. When I got there, the receptionist was very friendly and polite. I filled out the paperwork and within 5 minutes Dr. Hsu came out to get me. He assessed the problem (my hip was out), took a couple xrays to make sure nothing else was going on, and very effectively adjusted my back. When I left, I could sit up, something I hadn't been able to do for weeks. He recommended 6 treatments to make sure I didn't relapse. So far I've been back twice more. He has added a traction machine and physical therapy exercises too. I feel better than I have in years and can't remember the last time I had so much energy. I will send everyone to him. I really wish I could give Dr Hsu more than 5 stars. I was involved in a car accident last year, and developed both chronic neck pain and acute shoulder pain as a result. I had been trying to live through the neck pain for a few months, but it was an acute episode of shoulder pain that quickly prompted me to seek professional help. In short, I couldn't go on like that any longer; it was absolutely debilitating and I often found myself in tears (from both frustration and pain, and of course, the sense of helplessness). I've had mixed results with chiropractors before, so this time, I did my research beforehand. A web search of the best whiplash/spinal injury care providers in the Seattle area yielded Dr Hsu's name. His location in Bellevue (he has another office in Renton) was very convenient for me, as I live in Issaquah. I called to make an appointment and was accommodated the very next day, by his extremely friendly and professional receptionist, Lauren. She no longer works there, but Dr Hsu's current reception staff are just as professional, warm, friendly, and organized. They have handled the billing (of my health insurance and the personal injury protection from my car insurance) seamlessly, which has been a great relief to me. Dr Hsu's professionalism and -- above all -- his warmth as a care provider immediately struck me. He welcomed me into his clean, light-filled office and conducted an extremely thorough assessment of my injuries and pain level before he even proceeded with treatment. The assessment included a set of neck/torso x-rays (done on site, the same day, at his offices) to ensure that there were no contraindications to chiropractic treatment. From the start, I felt I was in very good hands (and I am usually slow to trust health care providers). Dr Hsu has expressed a level of interest in, and concern about, my personal well being and medical progress that I have not experienced before. Also, I am a curious person and tend to ask him questions at every appointment, usually about the mechanism of the adjustments, or the various modalities he employs in addition to chiropractic manipulations (such as cold laser therapy, passive traction, deep-tissue medical massage, etc), or about what I can do to aid the healing process. He answers every single question thoroughly and knowledgeably; his answers are not only imbued with the passion he clearly has for his profession, but are also personalized to my condition and to my level of curiosity about what is happening to me along this healing journey. It's been two months of thrice-weekly appointments, and my treatment plan now incorporates a comprehensive daily regimen of physical therapy. Dr Hsu personally demonstrates the various stretches and isometric exercises that would be most beneficial to me, and also has me practice them briefly in-office from time to time, to track my progress and ensure that I'm maintaining good form and will obtain maximum benefit from the therapy. I am feeling at least 75% better -- which is remarkable to me. My neck and shoulders are far more comfortable; I am more mobile and am better able to go about my daily tasks without pain or restriction. I sleep better, and my appetite (which had almost disappeared after the accident, causing a troublesome loss of weight) has returned, allowing me to nourish my body better as it heals and repairs itself. I am so impressed with, and delighted by, the progress I have made as a result of Dr Hsu's kind and expert care, that I have a renewed sense of hope about the future. I know I'm getting better and stronger every day, and I no longer fear that I will be in pain for many more months or years. Dr. Austin Hsu is the best chiropractor I know! My brother's chiropractor in a different state recommended him and when I went him and his staff was amazing! The staff is really nice, they remain in a very professional attitude, even with some of the few rude patients I saw while waiting for my turn. I was very excited to visit Dr. Hsu after reading all of the great reviews however, I don't know if he had an "off" day or if he was busy/didn't think my case was that important/or just didn't care because I was getting a second opinion but my experience was not very good. First of all, Dr. Hsu stood against the wall with his arms crossed the whole time while speaking to me except for when I further engaged him in conversation. He seemed rushed and explained things in a very fast manner that had an air of arrogance. I left my appointment feeling as though he was talking down to me and didn't really care for what I was looking for. The receptionist, while nice, did not focus on me while I was talking but continued to organize her paperwork and get things from the printer while I was trying to figure out what my best plan of care should be. Instead of shaking my hand goodbye, Dr. Hsu walked me halfway to the lobby and then said "ok, it's just to your left" and then turn around and rushed away. I guess you can't always judge a chiropractor by his reviews but just be warned that there is more there than people can say. He also suggested things that were way beyond what I needed. Not sure I have a good set of benchmarks but he's the 4th chiro I've gone to and since I had to pay out of pocket, two sessions that have run me over $400 is what I consider to be excessive. My opinion of Dr. Hsu has only grown over the years. I am very hesitant about chiropractors as I've had some bad experiences in the past. His careful attention to my partner gave me the confidence to try a treatment with him. His treatments paved the way for me having a MUCH better experience with my troublesome back. I am now no longer in the area but he got my back to a space where I can maintain a nearly pain free existence all on my own. And frankly, if I would just do the exercises he gave me I would be completely pain free. If you have back pain, please consider him. Also, I only have gotten "activator" adjustments from him. After an auto accident, I was lucky to find Dr Hsu. I believe he's the best in his field, and it's true what other reviewers have pointed out that he does truly care. I appreciate that he would use a cold laser to relax tensed muscles before doing an adjustment, and that he was always sensitive to my injury. We just moved to the area and both my husband and I were having neck and back issues. Luckily we were able to get an appointment with Dr. Hsu at Back 2 Health. (Previously I went to Back in Balance - and that was a complete waste of time.) Dr. Hsu is one of the best chiropractors we have ever seen (and we've seen a lot as we've lived in 5 different cities in the past 10 years). Dr. Hsu was able to give my husband instant relief on his sub-scapula strain, performed physical therapy, explained the cause of the pain and how to strengthen that area to avoid further injury. He is the 1st chiropractor (out of 3) that has been able to provide this level of relief and insight into my husband's reoccurring strain. Dr. Hsu was able to do the same with my neck and back pain. He is very knowledgeable and teaches you exercises to adjust your body's mechanics to provide long term relief. My only complaint is that he is a fairly forceful adjuster. I just had to add my kudos to the doctors at Back 2 Health. After suffering a work related strain that caused a stiff neck and sharp pain in my upper shoulder, I needed immediate treatment at a reasonable cost or it would cause delays in running my business. Having experienced a stiff neck years ago, I knew it would last for over a week where I could not turn my head without sharp pain. After the initial diagnosis and treatment procedure by Dr. Hsu, my stiff neck was cured that afternoon!!! I couldn't believe it! In addition, Dr. Hsu was able to treat my shoulder pain within a couple of weeks and I was completely back to normal and was able to continue my normal productivity.
