Eric is an exceptional trainer who is incredibly knowledgeable, compassionate, and truly understands the unique needs of older adults--which is something not many trainers do. He trained my 93-year-old Dad, and he is now working with my 85-year-old Mom. He has helped her tremendously with her flexibility, balance, strength, and overall health. As a recent widow, staying positive, active and focused on her health has become especially important, and Eric has given her a sense purpose. She genuinely looks forward to her sessions with him. One day, I saw a picture of myself and finally got motivated to make a change. I began to search on yelp for local gyms and came across Back 2 Basics. I decided to get in contact and was invited to come take a tour and do a quick assessment. After sitting down with Trainer Eric, I was convinced that this would be a good fit. I like to workout, but was getting concerned with reoccurring injuries. I voiced these to Eric, back in August. I also voiced my goals of wanting to be able to run and lose weight and just build more self esteem. I have been doing personal training with Eric for almost 2 years. I have worked with other trainers previously. I cannot believe the difference between a trainer that really does not care about their clients goals , versus someone that makes their clients goals a main priority . Eric not only creates a specialized training program , designed for your specific needs, he does a full assessment of your body mechanics to ensure you perform movements the correct way, as to ensure you do not sustain any injuries. I was injured in a car accident. While crossing the street I was hit by a car. My foot was crushed. My injuries left me disabled for about a year. After my surgery I started physical therapy about 4 months later. Was with them for over a year. Although it did help me a lot. It was t enough. I put on almost 20 lbs Not being able to move a lot. I joined back 2 basics training about 17 yrs ago and was very anxious to get back with Eric Bravo. If it weren' for Eric and Nargiz keeping me strong throughout all those years . I believe my injuries could have so much worse. Eric has been my trainer for quite sometime. There was a lot was not able to do anymore. I was getting very depressed. But now I'm back with Eric. I've been waiting for my one month anniversary to write a review because I want to be sure I am in love with this place and not just in lust (yes, I fall in love easily, don't judge me.) One day, I was perusing Yelp and decided that my fat ass needed to work out because....well, it's fat. I was looking for Zumba classes in my area not necessarily because I like Zumba (I actually kind of hate it) but thought if I was going to die while doing any type of cardio, I may as well be dancing. And that's how I found this place. I've never seen this location so one day, YOLO status, my sister and I went looking for it. It's located on the second floor of another business so you have to drive kinda slow the first time. Thanks to my GPS we found the place no prob, and they have a several signs outside so you know what's up. Already, it felt exclusive. My type of place. We walked in and Eric, the owner was finishing up a session with a client. The gym i is on the smaller side but it has everything it needs. It's clean and very modern looking. After he finished his session, Eric talked about how they work. They specialize in small group classes and (I am not sure if I should write this because I am not sure if they do this for everyone that walks through those doors but whateve's) he offered to give us 3 classes free of charge to see if we liked it. He had a Cross Training class that afternoon and told us to come back and gave us a sheet so we could write what we ate on a daily base. Shit. I hate regular gyms, with their long ass lines to wait for the cardio machines, to the meat heads hogging the weights, to the girls in full makeup and tiny workout clothes just strolling around trying to catch their meal ticket for the weekend. When I go to a gym, I want to workout. Period. When we got there that evening, I was pleasantly surprise to see there were only 3 of us in the class. There was another class going on at the other side of the gym but it was small as well. The reason for this is that there is a cap to their classes to keep them small and personal. You sign up a day or even a few hours before the class (granted it's still open) and you can do it right from an app on your phone. Hell yea! We were assessed and then were put to work. We did circuits which were challenging but didn't kill you. Eric makes sure to modify a move if you can't do the original one to avoid injury. I don't even know how I made it through that class but I did and as much as I hated it while I was doing it, I freaken loved it! He also went over our eating log (which was CRAP) and made suggestions on how to clean up our act. I keep going to this class and I added Cardio Step with Sandy (who I love, she is so sweet!) which has step but she makes us do resistance training as well. There are no membership fees, you pay for the classes you want to go to and can buy them in bundles or pay to go unlimited times to the gym. Yes, it's not $39.99 like it is at 24 Hour Fitness or LA Fitness, but it's like getting a personal trainer that you share with a few other people. There is a sense of camaraderie from all the gym-goers and they make sure to make you feel welcomed at all time (half-dying with people for an hour makes you feel closer to them for some reason. And endorphin's are abundant! Lol!) I am not sure if I have lost weight because I was told a woman shouldn't weigh herself before, during, or after her cycle which leaves no days to weigh in, but I feel my clothes looser AND everyone around me keeps telling me I look good. And I like to believe them. I am not 100% on my eating but I am at 80% which is a vast improvement then when I started. Where to start .... I love this place, the owners (Nargiz & Eric), all trainers, and the Back 2 Basics family. I definitely would recommend to all my friends and family (trust me I'm picky & selective on who I surround myself with). Trainers are amazing, knowledgeable and push you farther than you normally would. Classes are offered at different times that work with all work schedules....as early as 5:30am and latest 7:30-8:30pm. I broke my ankle a couple months ago and when I was able to come back, they not only gave me modified exercises but they really helped my healing process (getting my balance back and walking properly again). Nargiz and Eric have created something really special here and have helped change/transform many for the better... body, confidence, mobility, etc. Thankful to be apart of this workout community/family!!! read more

This is an excellent and professional gym and I have been to a few gyms in the past few years and am paying for planet fitness but just go to B2B. As yelp users can tell by all of the excellent yelp reviews, many clients stay for years and it is a great familial community. No gimmicks or anything. You dont have to change your profile or check in post like other spots. The trainers have been kind, professional, even through a knee injury I had at school, they were patient and knowledgeable to accommodate me. This place has been the only thing that has stuck. The trainers and small group classes will make you come back for more. They have half hour and hour bootcamp as well as kick boxing and even one on one training. They also offer a variety of cardio with zumba belling dancing and island dancing.
