The aroma reeled me in as I departed a salon close by. I walked in to order but changed my mind and bellied up to the bar instead. Jen came over with a big smile and bubbly welcome. TVs were going, music was at the level where you can carry on a nice conversation, and the air was cool. Got a Tito's and soda to start. She handed me the menu and imho it's perfect. Something for everyone!! Ordered the Mussels and linguine and it came with 2 larger than life garlic knots. So now I'm hooked. My muscles came out and I jumped in. Shells flying as I slurped up the beautiful white clam sauce. Was able to kill half of the bowl and have zero regrets. This place killed it!! This will be my new Italian go-to mangia! Also, too full to order dessert.

I would not recommend this restaurant based on our experience. We ordered 20 wings, and they were so overcooked that they were extremely hard and difficult to eat. Unfortunately, we also found black hairs in the ranch dressing and on the wings themselves. In addition, we ordered mozzarella sticks, and there was another black hair found in the melted cheese. Finding hair in multiple items raised serious concerns about cleanliness and food preparation standards. After spending over $100 on our meal, including the tip, this was very disappointing. We will not be returning and hope management addresses these issues to improve the experience for future customers.

Great Italian food and the martinis were to die for, especially the strawberry lemon martini that was my favorite.

**INITIAL REVIEW**…read more Out of all the restaurants still in business in the Melbourne/Palm Bay area of the Space Coast, the one that has truly lasted the test of time is The Burger Inn. Located on US-1, The Burger Inn is a testament to the city's history as the restaurant was first founded back in 1952. That was a time when Melbourne was the eastern point for cattle herding in Central Florida. US-1 was still a dirt road back then. As a matter of fact, The Burger Inn is one of the five-oldest restaurants still in business in Brevard County. By age, it is the second-youngest (Dixie Crossroads in Titusville, FL is younger while Ashley's, Lone Cabbage Fish Camp, and the Old Fish House Bar & Grille are older). The age The Burger Inn shows is more a testament to its delightfully tacky charm more so than be dated. In short, their age equates to experience and wisdom that still makes them a popular choice amongst restaurant-goers anywhere, both locals and tourists alike. The Burger Inn is located on the eastside of US-1, just a little ways north of the Eau Gallie Art District, but just a little ways south of the Big Orange roadside attraction. Take note that the entrance into The Burger Inn is a "right turn only," so patrons going south will need to turn in at the light before or after The Burger Inn and take the residential roads to it. The Burger Inn, as mentioned earlier, is delightfully tacky in its charm. It has the updated design of a 1960s drive-thru diner with its bright colors of the time. Think of a lot of red and yellow, neon lights, and black-and-white checker floors. If it further helps, think of movies like Grease. The majority of seating is outdoors with stone chairs and tables which were famously used in old-school garden parks of the 1970s with their tile mosaic designs. The seating is shaded and have roll-down canvas covers to block sunlight and wind just in case. The bar area is still intact with all the old-school cookery right in front of you. But take note people were "smaller" back then so if you are bigger or taller person, sitting at the bar will be uncomfortable. This is a burger dive bar so most of your food will be of that preference. But unlike other places, they still place precedence on their classic burgers, sides, and milkshakes. You can truly attest to the rest of their menu if their basics are delicious, and I will say their regular cheeseburger, fries, and shake are more than good, but have that satisfaction from eating a good ole' fast food meal back when such was done with actual care. That doesn't mean The Burger Inn has not kept with the times. They have updated their menu to include present day offerings such as chili-cheese fries, onion rings, mozerella cheese sticks, and much more. Finally on the food, they do have a challenge in which you eat a 10-patty cheeseburger, a large order of chili-cheese fries, and a 32 oz. shake in less than 30 minutes, you will get a free t-shirt and your meal is free. If you fail, you pay $40 for the attempt (which is not bad for a price if you think about it). Actually, everything on their menu is priced decently. A burger is about $5, which is fair given inflation, but worth it when you are eating a wholesome old-fashioned burger. Probably the only Issue worth addressing is the restroom. Remember how I said the bar seems to be made for people at a time when they were smaller. The same goes for the restroom. It is literally only a single unisex room that somehow is smaller than the space in a portable potty. The toilet literally runs under the sink. Talk about a tight squeeze. Despite that minute details, I have never been disappointed eating here at The Burger Inn. They've always been consistent with their food, especially during a time when specialty groups seem to naysay on what we can or cannot eat. Ergo, I am giving them five-out-of-five stars. Definitely give The Burger Inn a chance.

When we arrived we had the best outside spot along with a high chair ready for us. Our server was Jeanette, she was sweet and fast. We ordered a carafe of mimosas and put in our order. There was a very large party seated outside so our order did take a bit to arrive but it was hot and fresh. I ordered their french toast with strawberries and mascarpone. There was an option to add candied pecans and that was an amazing addition to this breakfast. It was presented like a sandwich and the mascarpone middle with the strawberries was the perfect sweet! There is a little dessert display inside and we bought their caramel cheesecake. It was incredible! Also, the bathroom was clean and had artwork, there was also a little mouthwash station! I definitely will come back for brunch when in the area.

Blackened was a bit too salty for me. 3.75 stars - Wings: got lemon pepper and teriyaki. Decent sized and tasty. 3.5 stars - Hurricanes at different levels which is fun if it's that kind of a party day for ya. Midlights: - Menu differs a bit from the main Cocoa Beach one. That has more pizza options and this has only a few flatbreads. Lowlights: - No coconut shrimp app on the menu. That's my go to on the other location. - Philly cheesesteak: my hub did not enjoy it. Dry and overcooked meat and oddly with a taco seasoning flavor. 2 stars

Mid level food selection, common bar drinks, and service that is so-so. Ordered cheese curds on a Saturday afternoon...out of stock. Ordered a burger...they told me congrats you got the last bun. Like WTH do they plan on selling all Saturday and Sunday if they have no buns lol. Beer was cold but if remember right a common draft beer was like $12. This place is just a dive bar with food. Won't be returning here.

We visited Charlie & Jake's on Father's Day and first impressions were great. The place was spotless, had that rustic barbecue-joint vibe, and despite the holiday crowd, we were seated quickly and greeted right away by a friendly, professional server. Service was pleasant, but our drinks seemed to be playing hide-and-seek. We had to ask for refills every single time we wanted one. Not a dealbreaker, but noticeable. Food came out quickly. My husband ordered the smoked Old Fashioned, which arrived with enough dramatic presentation to make nearby tables stop and stare. Absolutely worth ordering. A small hiccup: when I unwrapped my utensils, the knife appeared to have some sort of residue on it. Since I didn't actually need the knife, I didn't ask for a replacement, but it was worth mentioning. Now let's talk about the star of the show: the smoked chicken. Holy smoke signals, Batman. This was hands-down the best smoked chicken I've ever eaten. Moist, flavorful, perfectly cooked. I would happily order it every week and never get tired of it. My sides were collard greens and a baked sweet potato, both served in adorable metal measuring cups. The sweet potato was good. The greens were fine, but could have used a little more seasoning and personality. My husband ordered one of the meat platters. He enjoyed it, but there wasn't anything that inspired a speech, tears, or vows of lifelong devotion. The toast, however, nearly drowned itself in butter. I wasn't aware bread could absorb that much liquid and still maintain structural integrity. It was literally dripping when he took a bite. Somewhere between toast and sponge. My hush puppies were unfortunately the low point of the meal. They tasted like someone mixed flour and water, formed little balls, and introduced them to a deep fryer. They desperately needed seasoning and I didn't finish them. The fried pickle appetizer was excellent and the portion was generous enough to feed a small pickle-loving village. When the server dropped off the check, we politely declined. We don't leave restaurants without dessert unless there's a natural disaster involved. My husband ordered the banana pudding, which came in a cute square glass container and was very enjoyable. My daughter ordered the peach cobbler. Calling it "peach" felt a little optimistic. There were approximately two peach slices in a mountain of cobbler topping. She loves crust, so she wasn't upset, but if you're expecting fruit, bring a magnifying glass. The filling itself could have used more flavor and some warm spices, and it was absolutely swimming in caramel sauce. A good vanilla bean ice cream would have elevated the whole thing. My son ordered the peanut butter chocolate pie and immediately entered a state of dessert enlightenment. Deep peanut butter flavor, rich chocolate, absolutely fantastic. Final takeaway: Order the smoked Old Fashioned. Order the smoked chicken. Order the peanut butter chocolate pie. Maybe don't order the hush puppies unless they've found a spice rack since Father's Day. Overall, a clean restaurant, friendly service, excellent atmosphere, and a few standout menu items that are worth coming back for.
