Science Museum of Long Island on Plandome road in Manhasset is a place to visit on a nice day…read more Good for the family. Use GPS as there are some winding hilly roads to get there. Follow the signs. Thereis parking to the side of the main house. This visit had a tour of plants . There is a pond, fire pit and picnic tables throughout the area.it is a nature preserve park with many native plants along with some for sale. I suggest wearing a hat and sunscreen. While there are paths, sturdy shoes or work boots are good too along with a bottle of water. I did sera sign for bathrooms as well. They have a compost pile on the side.if you happen to have peelings from vegetables feel free to drop them off on your visit and learn how they make black gold for the soil.

We had a group of about 15 Cub scouts there finishing the ferns and animal related topic badge. The lady who gave a lesson about how to track or discover animals around us during our daily life, but the lesson was in a small room with no AC. The boys were not interested in the discussion at all. The session was informative to the parents, but the lady seemed unable to handle younger kids. We then took a nature walk outside and the boys were very into the hike. The trail was clearly marked and easy to access by foot. Parking lot was relatively small. Overall it was an okay experience.

My daughter has been gong to Oasis on the Sound for the past 2 years and will be going again this…read moresummer. She started when she was 3.5 years old and immediately fell in love with the camp. The Director, Mike, truly loves the campers and it's so evident to the children since they all love him as well. He makes the camp really special for the kids and they do great activities all day - including swimming at the beautiful Manorhaven Pool daily. The Directors of each activity - such as the Swimming Director - are all highly qualified and great at their respective activities. They do special events often - including my daughter's two favorites - carnival and color run - and host a family BBQ as well. The counselors are all mostly local high school and college kids who are terrific and one has been my daughter's favorite babysitter for the past two years! The campers are all safe and they do a great job of re-applying sunblock daily as well as making sure they are properly hydrated! On oppressively hot or rainy days, they bring the kids inside to watch a movie or do indoor activities. I am not as familiar with the field trips outside of the camp since they do those with the older campers but I know they've done some great trips. They also provide bus service to and from the camp for kids that need it and it's always run very safely and very organized. At the end of the day, each child is sent home with an ice pop and it's just a great way to end their day. My daughter comes home happy, tired and dirty - what more could I ask for! They have a great mix of a traditional camp experience with a lot of camp spirit! All in all it's a great camp and I wanted to share! (oh, and they also are incredibly flexible with weeks attending - you can pretty much sign up for any 2-8 weeks and they also have a shorter day till 3 if your child isn't ready to stay until 5 - and they also have early drop off and late stay to accommodate working parent's schedules!)

My 2 year old was coming home starving, despite sending him to school with a lot of his favorite foods. His lunch bag would be full at the end of the day. The staff said he was refusing to eat but he would point and grunt at his lunch bag as soon as he saw his lunch bag when I picked him up. He would take food out of lunch bag and eat the entire drive home. My completely potty trained 3 year old started having accidents, they lost his urine soaked sneakers and shorts for 2 days. Then those shoes and shorts had to be thrown away because I couldn't get the urine smell out. The place is disgusting, filthy dirty. The entryway floods every time it rains and smells like mold. If you look at the wood around the door frames, it's obvious that the space has flooded many times. Communication was awful. I would get little to no information about my 3 year old. I wouldn't know if he napped or for how long. I never knew if he was having bowel movements. Several of the staff members did not speak English. Many kids would be crying in the parking lot and not wanting to go into the building. An obvious sign that even the kids didn't like going there. Do not send you children here.

My son is a pandemic baby so I was worried about him adjusting to going to school, but he now LOVES going. I remember reading somewhere that this school is "like a big, warm hug" and I now understand what they mean and couldn't agree more!
