Of course, everybody comes here for the fresh meat or fish. I personally love their cold cuts although I'm trying to reduce my meat intake at the moment. Whether you're in search of European chocolates, imported snacks, or the cheapest or most expensive bottle of wine you can find, this is the place to look for it.

It's almost a shame to mix it in my pasta sauce - it was good enough to eat alone or as a topping for salads and other dishes. Directly behind it are stalls selling trees and plants. This is where I usually buy my herbs. They have everything - tarragon, thyme, oregano, coriander, lavender, sage, mint, basil, dill, lemongrass etc. They sell trees here for your garden at home, hanging plants and orchids. They even have really tall rosemary plants selling for more than PHP 1000 - really pretty but expensive. They also have a koi store in the middle of everything. Of course, they also have a stall which sells plant pots and containers and they have a really good selection of terra cotta pots. On Valentine's Day, do not be so obtuse as to buy on the day itself. Prices shoot up exponentially. Funny thing, my friend wasn't able to buy a bouquet so went around back to buy a potted plant and he was able to get it at a more reasonable price - with a pot and a flower that won't die out in a couple of days. I just wish they spaced their aisles a little farther apart, since it can only fit the width of one and a half carts, therefore making it difficult sometimes to move around.

I really can't stand the smell in this supermarket though, I can't pin point it down but I think it has something to do with the smoke that comes from the deli section. They often run out of items and don't have it for days (e.g. almond milk, sugar beets, coriander, mint, etc.)

It's ridiculous how many trips to work it took me to FINALLY notice this MECCA of veggie meat/mock…read moremeat! What lies inside this drab and discreet-looking establishment are actually freezers upon freezers of imported Taiwanese veggie meats and mock meats! I'm not talking about just 2 or 3 freezers--more like 8 to 10! From the usual "chicken" nuggets, ready-made burgers, and dried TVP (textured vegetable protein), to more unusual mock meat products such as veggie "shrimp", veggie "scallops", and stewed "mutton". It's amazing how there seems to be a very creative/strange/weird equivalent for most meats and seafood out there. My personal favorite is the sliced "fish" ham. Shaped like a fish steak with white meat, and seaweed "skin" wrapped around it. This place is a DREAM for any vegetarian or vegan (well, not the gluten-conscious and health food purists at least). Prices vary from cheap (below Php 100) to pricey (Php 250+) per pack, but with the overwhelming variety, it's really difficult NOT to hoard so it's wise to bring a lot of cash. Though, if you're vegan, do take note that some products have albumin, whey, etc. so don't go too crazy and still check your labels. They also have some dried mushrooms, vegetarian/vegan stir-fry sauces, Magic Meat (locally manufactured brand of TVP), and other veggie ingredients. If you're transitioning into vegetarianism or veganism, mock meats really help you ease into it faster.

Unfortunately they have almost no advertising and I only learned about this place by word of mouth. It never turned up on any searches for vegan/vegetarian food in Manila :( Only 5 min walk from Quirino LRT station at the intersection of San Marcelino and Quirino. After going around and checking the bookstores, my mom texts me to tell me to meet her at Marketplace. She was still there going around and inspecting every little thing they had in that supermarket. They have the usual things you find in a Rustan's supermarket. They had their cheese, cold cuts, sushi bar, sandwiches, salads and pastas. But what made it different was that it's been years and they finally decided to put a good supermarket in BGC. It's about time! And I can finally say that High Street finally has everything. It's a small supermarket but it's packed with great goods and they have a special aisle for Korean food. Really interesting and I left the grocery with a lot of Korean noodles.
