One of the many things I bought was a changing bag for my Oyster pushchair, unfortunately the stitching on one strap came undone meaning the bag could no longer hang on the pushchair. A very lovely lady called Rebecca sorted it all out for me without me having to go all the way to the store. She called the manufacturers (a couple of times in fact as they took their time responding!) and got a new one sent out to me. The after sales service is just brilliant and I vow to never spend any more of my hard earned money at Mothercare when I can help support a local business that works tirelessly to please their customers.

I bought a lovely soft rocking horse style rocker from here for my niece and she loves it! They have some lovely rocking horses which are all around £40-50 and the one I got was a cow which plays a lullaby when its ear is pressed and has a wooden rocker part at the bottom. The staff here are very friendly and I have visited the store looking for gifts and looking for large purchases and have always received a warm welcome, offer of help and great service. This store is well laid out, very spacious feel with plenty of room to move about with a buggy!

The staff are quite helpful we were asking about a changing bag to match the pushchair and the owner offered to ttry and track one down and order one in for us the staff even carried out the pushchair to the car for us. The pushchairs seem to be last season stock which is why you get them for such a good price.

Stark contrast from the icandy staff who were extremely helpful and friendly. Staff member was rude, seemed extremely disinterested and implied we didn't care about our baby as we didn't go for the top of the range car seat (despite that car seat we did get fro them actually having amazing reviews). I've given 3 stars just for the fact that the order did arrive quickly and it was correct, everything was in there that should have been. It may have also been that the person working at The Baby Show on behalf of Aftabs isn't their normal staff and just someone brought on board for the event.

The staff inside are friendly enough, but on my visit, they jumped on me the second I walked into the store to start browsing. The prices here are difficult to match, but the stock is incredibly limited and I'd recommend shopping elsewhere if you prefer a more relaxed atmosphere or aren't keen on high pressure salespeople.

Unfortunately this didn't happen as although they have a nice selection of baby stuff, the new stuff is overpriced in my opinion while the 'nearly new' items are obviously used and some where in not very good condition at all. The Gooseberry Bush sells most things so in theory you could do your entire baby shop in there, the lady who runs the shop also does a handy scheme where you can choose what you want from their stock and pay so much a week - hopefully being paid up before baby arrives so you can take your essentials home. I did buy a few bits from here; a lovely pink changing bag which really WAS nearly new, I didn't care about it being slightly used at all as it was a £40 bag which only cost me a tenner! I also picked up a new microwave steamer to keep at my mums and a pack of Tommee Tippee newborn bottles, these were both cheaper than if I'd bought them from a chain baby store with the added advantage of not having far to carry them home! One thing I didn't like about The Gooseberry Bush is the fact that they keep loads of their prams out the front of the shop, this is great in the summer but not so good when it rains as you can see the prams getting drenched before the ladies can get them in or cover them all. Unfortunately this put me off buying my pram from here, which is a shame as they are really well priced and there is a good selection of different kinds of prams, travel systems and buggies. The Gooseberry Bush will also buy your baby stuff once your little one has grown out of them, and they also do a part exchange where you can take one thing in and they will let you have the value against another product. I did this with my travel system once my daughter had outgrown the car seat and was given a very good price for it which enabled me to get a brand new buggy, raincover and cot mattress for just £15 in cash. Very impressive, I doubt I could have gotten a better deal on Ebay and this was without the hassle of having to post off the travel system. This is a shop worth popping into if you're pregnant or have a really little one, I actually spent more time browsing that buying but they have some real hidden gems amongst all the tat.

There's a changing room, although sadly it doesn't seem to have its bins emptied regularly enough (which of them do). The best thing though is the breastfeeding mother's room. Rockers and leather sofas, magazines and chilled water and some peace and quiet (air conditioned in summer). Somewhere quiet and private to feed your baby, that doesn't smell of dirty nappies. It was a real lifesaver when my son was nursing.
