And it was just as good as well, from amazing and well prepared classes, courses to amazing and caring staff, it's just a great place for them to get ready for Pre-K. Both our son and daughter were very attached to Ms Nicole because of how loving and caring she is. A lot of the staff (even some teachers from other classes) would greet my little one by name and I feel like they really care. I'm a bit surprised to hear about negative first impression, maybe the time of the visit was during peak drop-off/pick-up time and understandably hectic. This school really puts the kids first and the activities they plan are very thoughtful, educational, and great life lessons. Our daughter has had exposure to climbing trees, learning about composting, gardening, learning about bugs in the woods, sharing, listening, respecting rules, etc. We have seen our daughter really flourish since attending the school from developing her physical strength and balance (because they are outside a lot and doing so many activities) to being curious about things that are around them (learning about gardening, plants, bugs, etc.) and making friends and developing a deep bond with them. They have so much activities and it changes with the season. And we cannot say enough about the staff, they are thoughtful, flexible, and so receptive to feedback. We are so lucky to have our daughter in this school. Thank you Ms. Jessica for creating this school!

As you know, this is huge for little ones but even more important to a child who may need speech therapy. My children needed prompting to talk and we saw many other schools that barely engaged at all with the students! Little Meadows is very hands on. They have several therapists on location (OT, PT, ST, and even a psychologist). They have weekly workshops that you can attend. All of the therapists I've encountered here do great work and always give me time if I need to chat about my boys' therapeutic progress. (By the way, CPSE doesn't cover feeding therapy. My children needed it badly and the speech therapist was kind enough to accommodate us. Going above & beyond their call was something I wasn't expecting but I appreciated it immensely!!) They offer half day & full day classes. They offer integrated classes that are split between community children and children with mild special needs. I'm not positive, but I believe they also offer classes for children with more severe special needs. Their playground is large, safe, and private for their own use. They have a gym to play in for rainy/snowy days. Knowing that the school is located in a safe neighborhood is also good to know because the children WILL go on neighborhood walks throughout the year. Parent involvement is often encouraged. Hands down, the best pre-k school I have visited in Queens.

We felt incredibly lucky to secure a spot, as Little Genius is such a highly sought-after program--and it truly lived up to its reputation. My son absolutely loved his time there. A few years later, we were fortunate enough to enroll our daughter shortly after she turned one. We had complete peace of mind knowing she was in such caring and capable hands under Ms. Sammi's guidance. She has learned so much and genuinely enjoys going to school each day. I always looked forward to the weekly projects she proudly brought home, as well as the festive Christmas performances. Ms. Sammi does an exceptional job communicating with parents, often sharing sweet moments and photos that brighten my day. It's clear how much love, attention, and dedication she and her team give to each child. It's hard to believe that three years have already flown by and that my daughter will soon be graduating. I'm confident she is more than ready for pre-K and will continue to thrive. While it's bittersweet that we won't be seeing the wonderful staff at Little Genius every day, I'm sure we'll stay in touch. Every single adult who works at this school is amazing and caring. The director walks the hall every morning greeting the students, all of whom know him by name. The teachers were carefully hired and clearly love their students. My daughter had a tough time adjusting to school - the teachers were patient and caring and provided enough support to get her through those rough times. The director was encouraging and after a pretty difficult separation one morning told me to call him when I got to work so that he would Skype me to see my daughter and make sure she was doing well. This is the type of family you wish you could leave your children with. This place provides quality UPK using a play based and hands on approach to learning. This is rare in an age where academics with heavily on education. Our Savior ignited my daughter's curiosity. There was no pressure on her to learn to read for example; as a matter of fact there were no lessons at all. So I was pleasantly surprised when she picked up a book one day and simply started reading! She was learning through play, which is how all children should learn. I am devastated that the year is winding down to a close, but feel fortunate and blessed that we found a place that really helped my daughter grow. We will always have fond memories and I look forward to sending my second daughter there when it's time for prek!

Both of my children attend Carrig Montessori. I am a public school teacher myself, and the…read moreteachers at Carrig are the best I have ever seen. Everything there is done so thoughtfully and purposefully. Just an example: new kids are phrased in one at a time so each child feels maximally special on their first day. My son started class in the fall knowing his letters, and in two months he's now proudly reading books to me. My daughter never willingly left me for any reason, but she loves to go to school and waves happily to me each morning. They come home each Friday with the work they have done and are so proud to show it to me. They talk to me about things I had no idea they knew. A big part of Montessori education is the kids making their own choices of what work to do, and I'm really enjoying how much more independent and self sufficient my children have become. The parent teacher conferences are amazing. After my scheduled classroom observation, two teachers met with me for *an hour and a half* conference in which they describe my children's relationship to themselves, their peers, their teachers, physical space, all the different subjects (practical life, language, math, etc). I learned so much. A few very specific examples: they noticed that my 3 yo daughter's Vs sound like Ws and are working with her in the movable alphabet to see if its a problem hearing or expressing the sound. They notice my son gets distracted 75% of the way through a work and they check in with him to give him the final push to complete his work. They talked to me for five minutes about my son's understanding of different vowel sounds. I don't think that level of detailed perception and follow through happens at any other preschool (any school anywhere?) Before Carrig, my kids had been in 4 other preschools and 1 elementary, so I have some basis for comparison. Carrig is truly a one in a billion school. Christine Carrig is committed to running a school that is excellent in every detail. Even if it is geographically less convenient for you, you should think about sending your child there because it's your kid and it's really worth it. PS I also really like that they are on Cooper Park and can use it for recess. A lot of preschools have to use a playground near a highway, which I feel is a real health issue.
