My son started going to Little Forest when he was only 4 months old, and for the past 2 1/2 years, we feel very fortunate to have him there as we know he is in good hands. In the beginning, we were apprehensive, given it was a relatively new day care and given how young our baby was. We shouldn't have to worry. Judy, the day care owner, has done such a great job in creating a home away from home atmosphere for the kids. She also provides lots of guideline and suggestions to us when our son was sick.
What I like most about this day care:
(1) Home-made meals, including dinner. Ms. Xie makes yummy Chinese style meals at the premises each day - Shanghai style wonton/dumpling, chicken congee /noodle with lots of vegetables...etc. They also serve fresh fruit daily. All are washed thoroughly. And real ingredients! Not meats and fruits with preservatives.
(2) Mixed age class- There are usually 12-14 kids aged from infant to 4 enrolled. When my son was little, I observed older kids comforting him when he was in distress or not feeling well, and he picked up skills and built vocabulary with their assistance. Now that my son is older, he is able to help, play and care for the younger kids. It helps tremendously on his social developments.
My son has truly flourished. He is happy to go to school and he talks about his teachers and classmates in a daily basis, and that is what matters.
I highly recommend this family style day care. read more
