Babe's Doughnuts - Great donuts here! - Donuts Near Me - Tuscaloosa, Alabama

Adorable selection of fresh donuts at this shop in the heart of downtown Tuscaloosa. Cute little shop with an authentic vibe. The owner was very friendly, recommending fan favorites & after ordering a mixed dozen, also threw in some mini donuts with the apple fritters. Can not stress how fresh they are! Maple bacon was incredible & the blueberry jelly knocked my socks off. But the real winner was the apple fritters. 100% best donuts in town. Also great coffee! read more

Great little donut shop with fresh made donuts and kolaches daily. We got an assortment of 6 specialty and 6 regular donuts and love when they just sprinkle top top with free donut holes. The apple fritters were superb with crispy edges and soft centers. Donut holes were excellent as well. Wife and kids devoured the rest and everyone had happy glazed smiles. read more

Cute space near the University of Alabama. Glazed donut was perfect. Blueberry donut was so yummy!! Fast, friendly service. It was around 9am during summer so not too busy. I would return for sure! read more

Efficient, friendly service. We picked up a couple of cold brews. Thumbs up. Additionally, two Conecuh sausage kolaches, two old fashioned donuts, and one apple fritter. Just a fun to know fact: when you get real Czech kolaches, they are the round fruit or cream cheese center topped delights made of a sweet bread-like dough unique to kolaches. A klobasnek is technically the "correct name" for one of log-shaped sausages wrapped in the same sort of dough. No matter what the name, though, they are still delicious. Their "kolaches" were wrapped in more of a croissant-type pastry dough. They were heated for us at point of sale. We did enjoy them, but just a tip if you are pining for the other dish. The Apple fritter? We were there for that. Yum, yum, yum. Crispy edges, soft, fluffy inside, sliced apples here and there. Nice cinnamon. Bought it passing through, and still have some in the car. They tossed in a few donut holes for good measure. We would return. read more

Ordered three half dozens to give to school leaders the morning of, and service was on point. Glad I was able to check this place out and share the donuts with others. read more

They have some unique doughnuts that are very good. The honey chicken biscuit is so good!

Walked over from the hotel and got two donuts: a blueberry cake and a red velvet cake. They threw in a couple of free iced yeast, donut holes. Regrettably, both the red velvet and blueberry donuts were definitely day-olds as they were not fresh at all. The donut holes were super fresh and tasty. I'll have to pass on this place next time. read more

Kolache was SO good! We got the cheddar flavor but they also had a jalapeño one. Also you can never go wrong with an Oreo donut. read more

Southwestern taco wrap was awesome! Forget about getting a bagel here , store bought frozen ... Love the coffee and the apple fritters! They make these little dough pieces, like funnel cake and they are really good! The donuts looks really good but nothing earth shattering. Huge fan of Babe's usually, they have great food and nice people, but they closed the kitchen an hour early today

This place is the best breakfast I have had in Tuscaloosa. I went with my girlfriend on a Sunday morning and it was so good. We got a box of 6 donuts to try a variety and each one of them were so good. I got the sausage, egg, and cheese sandwich on a croissant which was amazing. My girlfriend got the honey butter chicken biscuit which was also a 10/10. This is easily our favorite breakfast spot. read more

If you love coconut doughnuts, this is your place. I got an apple fritter and a cinnamon roll and they both tasted like coconut. Threw them away. Sad. read more

I have to say this shop is extremely nice and clean. Staff is very friendly and helpful. The only reason I am giving this shop a lower rating is because I can't say I LOVE these donuts. The donuts are average size and width, around the same that you would get from Dunkin. As far as taste is concerned, I cant say I found anything that was spectacular. All of the donuts were similar in taste, and the toppings didn't help much for variation. Another thing that I disliked was their frosting. Its extremely sugary and gets old FAST. Not only is the frosting on top of some donuts, its also inside the cream filled donut. There is many options to choose from which is a plus, but the donuts alone are nothing special. read more

I have tried a couple of donuts from here in the past and they were wonderful but my go to is always a breakfast sandwich. They are delicious and always made to order. There is also a nice variety of coffee options as well. Staff is always friendly and their is even a lovely outdoor seating area out front. read more

Menu prices NEED to be updated. I ordered a Veggie Breakfast Bowl (listed 6.00) a Southwestern taco ( listed 4.50) and was charge 16.00 even. That maths not mathing! The bowl was ok... but no seasoning, even salt or pepper. The burrito was on the smaller side and completely tasteless read more

The beloved Babes- I'm not sure what all the hype is about. Their donuts are good but not life changing. The service was decent even though we waited about 25 minutes to get donuts and coffee. Their breakfast burrito was super plain and had little personality but it was served hot, like it was made to order. I'd go back if they were less crowded. read more

I ordered the hot caramel latte. It tasted terrible!!! No taste!! The donuts are good..

Hidden gem! Super yummy and always friendly staff. They have a great selection as well.

This place is extremely high for what they are selling. They shop at cheap places and then charge a ridiculous amount. For ONE Macha, it was $5.45. That's insane! I'm all about shopping locally, but this place is just out of line on prices. I got in around 9AM. There were not a lot of people there. The donuts looked really cute! Full of colors and verity. I don't know the price. I didn't look after paying that for the Macha. Give it a try. Just bring the bank! read more

Babe's is my go to breakfast and coffee spot when I am in Tuscaloosa. Love everything about this place. You can't go wrong with the breakfast sandwiches, burrito, or bowls. Looking forward to my next Ttown visit to get my normal order...bacon, egg, and cheese on toasted white or biscuit. read more

Good stuff! Appreciate that they're open on a Sunday in June... everything nearby seems closed or quiet. We're on a road trip and I needed a special Fathers Day stop: Bacon maple donut, sausage kolache, Nutella donut, egg and cheese biscuit and that's a holiday brunch on the road! Great donuts and fabulous service. Add on a sweet cream cold brew on a hot day and you're good for a few hundred miles :) read more

The food here is good, but the last few times I've been here on the weekends after 1 it says they're open till 3 and it was 2:15 when I tried to go and the doors were locked, the employee didn't even acknowledge me even though he saw me. read more

Great variety, concept, and quick service. Donuts were good (I believe there's no such thing as a bad donut) but just good. Not as knock me down fresh as I'd expect a local joint to be. Like maybe they were made a while ago? Still, coffee is good, and I'll go back again when I'm T-town. read more

I tried Babes solely based upon the reviews of great coffee, delicious donuts and great customer service. The photos showed a pretty bountiful display of donuts to select from. Well - if prior reviews were accurate it must have been a really off day. First, upon entry where I was the only customer - the staff took about 3 to 4 minutes to even acknowledge me being in their store. I thought I was literally being "punk'ed". To follow that up my coffee was cold and the donut display had maybe 6 options. The donuts I purchased were not what prior reviews suggested. In fact, they were very sub-average. The prior reviews on ambiance are accurate - a strange dark setup. Net:net......a disappointing future pass for me! read more

The first time I went to Babe's I got a couple of doughnuts and they threw in a handful of doughnut holes. The doughnuts that visit were great. I went back today about 3 months later, the doughnut I got was awful. It tasted like it was day old or older. I ordered 3 items and no doughnuts holes were added. They might just be cutting back which I understand. The second time was definitely not enjoyable. And I feel their prices might of gone up too, but not sure. I hope it was just a fluke, and they'll be fresher next time. read more

People... When a vibe hits you on a Saturday morning, you just gotta stop a minute and let it wash over you. Am I right??? The minute we stepped into downtown Tuscaloosa's Babe's Doughnuts, I was a fan! They had Los Eik, Roy Blair, Dae Zhen and Sectiontoo playing in the background with the aroma of freshly brewed coffee drifting throughout the place. The area is stripped down to stools and plank tables and greenery everywhere which is exactly how to put the focus on the food. Let's talk doughnut choices because man, there are a plenty. Shout out to Saunders who guided us on our choices and gave us a brief description of his favorite teas and coffees. He even chatted us up on our beloved hometown of Nashville and his visits there. We ended up with a blueberry hibiscus got tea and hazelnut and caramel lattes. The FREE doughnut holes that come with every order had a pina colada flavor that quickly hooked you on the first bite. TIP: grab a dozen of these on your way out to snack on later. You'll keep dreaming about them long after you've left. We decided to get a box of everything and just taste it all (as you can see in the pic below). Like another patron stated, the sweetness factor is just so that you can eat many and not feel as satiated, which is a definite plus. We consumed the whole box of yummies and then walked around the historic district. Good morning, Tuscaloosa! What a nice way to greet your charming city. read more

Babe's is always open and always very fast. Good doughnuts and really passable breakfast sandwiches. Depending on who is working you can get a really nicely made coffee. It may not look like a really nice coffee shop but I've gotten more delicious coffee here than a place like Monarch or Turbo which specialize in coffee. If the right person is working you can get a really nice espresso. Good doughnuts, kolache are so/so. read more

After reading the other reviews, I decided to try for myself. First impressions of the establishment were not very good. Looks dark and dreary. Not many donuts on display, and the workers seemed uninterested in helping. Donuts were average at best, and our sandwich order was wrong. Stopped by Babe's to pick up some treats as I heard it was really delicious. It's a very cute little coffee shop/cafe. It's nicely designed, and feels very homey. They have doughnuts, fritters, and kolaches, as well as some breakfast and lunch type sandwiches and biscuits. I stopped in just minutes before close and no one was irritated that I cut it so close, so that's nice. The gentleman who rang me up was quiet but had a pleasant smile. I got a chocolate glazed doughnut and a Nutella doughnut. Now, it was a few hours till we ate them - got them around 1 and had them for dessert around 10:30 PM. I think the chocolate glazed doughnut's quality deteriorated quite a bit, as it was rather dry and the chocolate quite hard and flaky. However, the flavors were good and I believe it would have been quite tasty had it been fresher. Mind you, it is a more cakey doughnut, something I prefer. I'm a heathen and I don't like Krispy Kreme at all, so this is a nice alternative. The Nutella doughnut though. My GOODNESS, it was delicious. I do not ordinarily like any doughnut very much, and only came here based on the great reviews. I loved this doughnut. I will agree with other reviewers and say that it needed a bit more Nutella throughout, as only two or three bites actually had Nutella in them, but honestly, the doughnut was so good I didn't even care that much. Soft, pillowy, just the tiniest bit chewy, with cinnamon sugar on top...y'all. It was awesome. Go get a Nutella doughnut right now! read more
