Don't get me wrong, I love a good reno and an updated space, but I feel like Roger's 2.0 missed the…read moremark a little here. The new line control and ordering setup was pretty confusing when walking in. And with how popular this place gets, it can feel even more cramped because of the way they want the lines to form. I get what they were trying to do, but I honestly think the flow worked better before. The kitchen is SO big, I feel like it took up a lot of the space. There are also these big menu signs for the deli side, but unless you're standing right in front of them to order, it's pretty hard to get a good look. The line dividers and people waiting in line block the view. I have yet to actually order from the deli, though, so I guess that gives me something to try next time! Roger's is a local spot for me, so I'll definitely still stop by whenever I need my donut fix. I'll be back, but I'm not sold on the new setup yet.

The workers are nice, new ordering system is straightforward and I like that they offer doughnuts when I'm craving something sweet! I've only tried glazed and it was solid. The donut holes were on the drier stale side. Dining area is clean and maintained for those coming by for lunch! Roger's is #1 for me in the area, you won't be disappointed

Parking is ample in this plaza but the spaces near Nijiya have many new and popular vendors so you might have to park on the west side and hike. The Deli is on the LHS of the market and consists of a dining area, large grab and go cold Deli case with both sushi and cooked (cold) selections, a small "hot" item station and a pay station. This must have been a good time because the case was fully stocked with many choices. I've come at much later times and had slim pickings. After some short window shopping, I picked up the 6 pcs Tuna Roll consisting of 6 generous slices of fresh Ahi or Bluefin wrapped over a Nori, cucumber and faux crab salad rice roll. It was a tasty, satisfying $10.49 value. The variety of choices you will have depends on when you go, earlier the better. It's a great value grab and go sushi place. Have and will repeat.

There's no service here since it's all to go. Grab a post meal snack or beverage or even get some groceries while you're at it. I had me the California roll with salmon and a small salmon sashimi platter for only $15. Decent quality of fish and hits the spot.

I was driving down the…read morestreet and I saw California Street Market had a sign hanging on the outside of the store that caught my eye. "Tamales All Day". I hit the brakes and made a u-turn. It is really hard to find parking but I found a spot a quarter mile away. I noticed the store had some ethnic groceries in addition to other groceries which I thought was nice. I think I paid $3.95 a tamale which is on the higher end. I asked the girl who took my order if they make the tamales and she said they did. I bought four pork tamales to try. The meat to masa ratio is maybe a little over 1/3 to 2/3 so a little more meat would have balanced out the masa. It had good flavor and the masa wasn't too dry. Overall a good tamale. If I'm in the area again I think I should eat them fresh and warm. Reheating tamales could throw off the original freshness. A solid 3.5 stars rounded up to 4 stars for a Mom and Pop neighborhood location.

We heard this market had some of the best tamales in the area, but I have to disagree. The meat was decent, but the masa was just okay. They wrap the tamales in a husk, then plastic, and keep them in a warming unit. The masa ended up mushy, likely from being over‑steamed. The market itself is a cool little spot with a nice assortment of drinks and snacks. The guy behind the counter was friendly and helpful as we made our choices. Unfortunately, the tamales just didn't live up to the hype, so I'll be looking elsewhere.
