Such a fun place to spend some time. We loved all of the pinball machines and retro games. There use to be more but looks like they got rid of some for some... claw machines and whatnot. There are plenty of places to sit and hangout. They have beer on tap and other drinks as well. There are restrooms available.

A "bar arcade" is a great way to please the parents & keep the kids happy, too. A good spot in the middle of downtown SLO to spend 1-2 hours. They have pool tables, air hockey, karaoke, pinball, and a mid-size selection of arcade games including the most popular old-skool choices. They serve beer and wineonly with a selection to choose from. The bathroom is clean, the service good & people friendly. Sunday now is a perfect night for locals. No parking mess to contend with. I haven't tasted the food either of the 2 times I've been here, the reason for the 4 stars. Kitchen closes early. Will update once I've tried the food.

Highly recommend the cream soda beer it was tasty. If you like sweet beers you'd love this. The bartender was super nice gave us a sampling. Came on trivia night which I thought was karaoke. The place was packed but no one really buying drinks or playing games. Seems like just a place for college students to take up space. Seen a lot of barcades fail in college towns. You need to have a drink minimum. I like the decor and the selection of games. I was kind of disappointed with the dance rush stardom. The bar music was so loud I couldn't even hear the games music. The tech needs to adjust that. I think if you're a real collector you'd be a little disappointed with all the crt conversion but it makes sense business stand point. They also had crane machines and great selection of pinball. I like how clean the arcade is. It's a coin arcade so bring cash so you don't have to use the atm inside and pay a fee

A new business in downtown SLO that is a retro throwback to the 80's! BA Start is a video arcade lounge with pool tables, bar ( beer and wine), stage and tons of old school stand-up arcade games. At 8 pm it's 18 years and above for a more mature crowd. They do have a small kitchen so you can eat while you're gaming. You play with tokens, there are monthly tournaments with prizes. They'll let you rent out the entire place for events, birthdays or parties. I showed up just before farmers market and the place was bouncing. I brought a Linkin and he was allowed no problems. What a fun place to hang out! The decor is a work in progress, it truly feels like the 80's Regency Game Palace. Music is playing, the place isn't brand new, where else could we enjoy these iconic video games but here. Update: I recently went in to play pool and video games. I still feel like this is a different place, it's not Boomers or CC, parents should expect an 80's vibe in here. Everyone that works here is friendly and they truly want to make this place work. My only snark is the kitchen, I'd focus more attention on updating or making it "self-serv," but then again, maybe people don't mind as much. Overall B+

Inappropriate in the mens bathroom. A little boy came out asking about thr man covered in blood.

We were excited for the arcade to open. Here on a Sunday afternoon at 3. Guess today is the second day they have been open. I hate leaving bad reviews but this just didn't sit right. The food: Got the panini. Cheese wasn't melted and the side salad was a few pieces of Lettuce with no dressing. Pretty disappointed but I guess it's the same as bowling ally food. The female bartender really needs to learn what attire is appropriate around children. Her shirt dipped almost to her belly button and her breasts were falling out. Multiple people were commenting on her attire. Wear something over the shirt until the 8pm 21+ starts. There are children as young as 4 here playing the games. The games were fun. The water container was empty the entire time we were there. The mens bathroom had completely inappropriate artwork for children to be seeing. A little boy came out talking about the guy with bloody hands.. come on guys.... really ??? .... the women's restrooms artwork was just as bad and not appropriate If it was labeled as an adult arcade I can see where these things are okay but the over 21 doesn't start until 8pm. The two stars is for the beer list and the nice guy helping us at the bar. We are pretty disappointed. Great concept but things really need to worked out if you are bringing your child here. Updated...we finished our tokens and multiple games we played didn't work properly including pinball.

Stay far, far away from this place. What my family and…read morefriends witnessed at Hot Shots Billiards this past weekend was one of the most disturbing displays of behavior I've ever seen from someone working in a business open to the public. The manager completely lost control screaming, swearing, and behaving aggressively toward a grandfather and his two young grandchildren in front of everyone inside. We saw this with our own eyes. After the outburst, I spoke with the grandfather to understand what triggered this. He explained that the boys had been there the day before playing pool with family and friends and had returned for another visit. Their grandmother had brought them each a small bowl of soup because they didn't want the food offered there. Without any calm discussion or warning, the manager suddenly rushed over, yelling for them to "get their food out of here right this GD minute." Then, in a way that shocked everyone standing nearby, he snatched the soup from one of the kids and forcefully pulled a bag out of the child's hands as they were trying to leave. He continued shouting profanity including multiple F-bombs directly at the grandfather, all while the two young children stood there visibly upset. The entire place went silent. People looked stunned and uncomfortable. I've never seen anything like this in a place that's supposed to be family-friendly. In my opinion, the grandfather showed incredible restraint by not involving law enforcement. We had just walked in to play a few games with friends, but after witnessing that level of hostility and unprofessionalism, we turned around and left immediately. Outside, the grandfather told me the manager still refused to return one of their personal bags, which added to the concern. Later, when I mentioned the incident to a few nearby business owners and locals, several of them said they were unfortunately not surprised. They shared that they had heard of issues involving this manager in the past. I can't personally verify those claims, but hearing the same thing from multiple unrelated people definitely raises concerns. And sure enough, other online reviews describe behavior similar to what we witnessed firsthand. My strong recommendation: avoid this place entirely. No customer especially a child should ever be subjected to that kind of behavior from a manager. The grandfather later sent me a photo of the individual involved so that we could make our local friends in the Pismo area aware of who he was.

I was able to find great deals on mini golf and arcade credits through Groupon, which definitely helped. There are tons of fun games, and the kids loved the arcade. They even managed to win prizes from the giant claw machine, which never happens, so that was a big highlight! They also have batting cages and water bumper cars, though the bumper cars were out of commission when we visited. I'd recommend eating beforehand and bringing your own drinks. The food is overpriced and not great quality. That said, the service was very friendly both at the food counter and in the arcade/ticket area.

The website will say "open," but weekday hours don't actually start until 2 PM, and that detail is buried further down. We found that out the hard way after finishing up at the pier around 11 and having to completely pivot our plans (including grabbing food elsewhere to hold the kids over). Not a dealbreaker, but definitely something to be aware of if you're visiting from out of town. Once they did open though? Completely different story. We were greeted by Robert -- and honestly, he set the tone for the entire visit. He was the only one up front at first, but you wouldn't have known it based on how smoothly everything went. Friendly, attentive, and actually present. He helped us get set up, handled food, and still managed to keep an eye on everything else going on. And yes -- he made our pizzas fast, gave us a buzzer, and sent us on our way to enjoy the games instead of waiting around. That alone? Huge. We ended up doing the arcade route first, and this is where Boomer's really surprised me. I used a Groupon deal and paid $25 for 100 points, and it just so happened to be one of their half-off arcade days. So instead of games costing 3 points, they were 1.5 -- and the machines actually show you the discount clearly. That's smart business. The card system is also way better than old-school arcades. No paper tickets flying everywhere -- everything loads directly onto the card. And for once, we actually had enough points to get decent prizes. We walked out with a bunch of toys and plushies instead of the usual "you can afford a sticker and a piece of candy" situation. At one point, my son joked that a game was "rigged," and Robert immediately stepped in -- not in a defensive way, but in a "let me make sure this kid is having a good time" way. He showed him how the game worked, pointed out that he had already won multiple times, and turned it into a funny, reassuring moment instead of letting frustration build. That kind of attentiveness stands out. We also tried the go-karts (paid separately), and I'll say this: if you're even considering it, just go for the unlimited option. One round was enough to realize we wanted to get right back in line. The kids had a blast, and even with one riding with me, it was still a great experience. We ended up spending about 2.5 to 3 hours here between food, games, and rides -- and overall spent around $100. For everything we did, that's actually a really solid value. Especially compared to places like Scandia, where you can easily drop $200 without blinking. There was also a giant claw machine with oversized bouncy balls -- both of my boys won on their first try, which felt like a miracle in itself. We couldn't take them with us (overpacked car problems), so we gave them to another family with little ones. Unexpected wholesome moment. Overall vibe: * Not overly crowded (at least when we went) * Clean and easy to navigate * Systems are modern and efficient * Staff presence was light, but Robert carried the experience If I had one note, it would be the hours communication -- that part could be clearer upfront. But once you're inside, the experience makes up for it. We came in slightly thrown off by the timing... and left with happy kids, prizes, and zero regrets. And Robert? Give that man his flowers. He made a lasting impression without even trying to. All in all a great experience and 10/10 would recommend ! BUT THEY OPEN AT 2pm on weekdays ! REMEMBER THAT !
