The space is minimalist and gives old fashioned turn of the 20th century vibes. There's obviously a lot of pride and a commitment to local foods here. We ordered the night's cocktail special the New York Sipper -yum- the Raquette salad, two of the small (not small at all) plates that were on special that night: the creamy barley risotto and the butternut squash and mushroom parpadella. As a main course, we shared the house-made mushroom burger, savory and flavorful. Everything was fantastic, with many earthy, fresh and delicious flavors and a variety of textures. We clearly ordered too much food, since the small plates were actually full portion-size. Skipped dessert, although the special was tiramisu. They're under a lot of pressure to compete in Potsdam, but they're doing something that shows classical training and a commitment to quality. Several Finger Lakes wines on the list. Prices are astonishingly low for such an excellent meal. Note: tip is included and there were no "lighter" meats like poultry or fish on the menu. Thus the great vegetarian options, I assume.

Everything tasted fresh and the portion size was solid. The place has a great laid-back atmosphere, perfect for grabbing a burger and a drink. The staff were friendly and the service was quick even though it was busy. If you're looking for a good American restaurant and bar with great burgers and a relaxed vibe, Pines Tap and Table is definitely worth checking out. The sandwiches are all named after nearby streets, which really gives it that neighbourhood feel. All meat sandwiches are $13.99 and vegetarian sandwiches are $12.49. You can also build your own for $13.99 where you can choose 2 meats, one cheese, and whatever vegetables you like. We went with the build your own option. We got roast beef and prosciutto cotto, fresh mozzarella and lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, pickled onions, pickled eggplants, and roasted red peppers, with a bit of honey mustard. The sandwich was really good. The bread was fresh, as were the other ingredients. It was a bit pricey in my opinion, but this is in comparison to other similar sandwich shops with $8-10 sandwiches (like 50 Two Sandwiches or Shorty's Sandwiches), but they are in industrial parts of town, so I get it, rent in Hintonburg is higher.
