4 star for a Barcelona pedicure. Coming from NYC and LA, I will eternally quest to find a pedicure…read moreas thorough as what I got at Gloss in LA.
I chose this salon because Organic, yay! They only use Deborah Lippman polish, great polish that's non-toxic. But mainly I chose it because the employees were all Spanish. Barcelona has the same problem with nail salons that exists in NYC, LA, and perhaps worldwide- slave labor. Sure, you don't mind that your nail tech doesn't speak English (or Spanish). And you just think everyone's kinda grumpy and serious cuz they've got a lot of nails to paint. But no. They're paying off their passage to someone who brought them here to work it off. Forever, if they can get away with it. The nail salon industry is rife with this, and I do my best not to support it.
So FOR THAT this salon gets 5 stars! Quiet, professional, polite! The tech who did my pedicure did her level best. She did a GREAT job by EU standards, as far as I know. But it was 45 euros. Which is good to know I'm supporting a good business, but also out of my price range. Yes, I could do it all myself, but it's seriously harder than cutting one's own hair if you want to maintain everything correctly. I know, I cut my own hair.
