    Thursday night around 10pm

We on a Thursday night. It was ok. Calm, chill, laid back environment. Music could have been better. It was at a level where you could hold a conversation without yelling though.

Take a deep breath. Gasp caugh ahem. Ok, not that deep. Not like a bong. More like a little puff. How is that? Much better, right? Hookahs have been on my bucket list. Sure, close to the bottom, but it was on the list. This is a great place to try it. Went on a Tuesday night when it was quiet and the ladies gave us the inside scoop on hookin. We tried the vanilla and got set up on one of the big water pipes. The smoke was extrememlu mellow. Once its cooled theough the water and long hose you cant even tell you are smoking. But you are and the nicotine rush starts quickly. There were a few regulars in there besides us newbies. They have a good selection of drinks so those not hookin it up still felt at home. So if this is on your bucket list, give em a try. Just remember, just a little puff.

Came in for the first and last time on a Wednesday night. Took my credit card for a tab and charged me 20$ a drink. 5 drinks for 92.77. I was rudely told by manager that a shot of Baileys was 8.00 apiece and patron was 10.00. After asking for a shot, they gave me and my wife a double without asking and said they'd take it off bill. On top of a 14.27 "service charge". Wtf is that???? Your a damn bar! The manager was a foreigner who was rude as hell and said too bad, welcome to Philly. Stay away. They will rip you off and laugh at you on the way out. Rember, I paid almost 100.00 for 5 drinks. And the place sucks anyways. AVOID!!!!!!!!

Sometime, establishments appreciate service members sacrifice and give a few bucks off; however, the bouncer girl gave a stank face and said no. We were offended by the stank face and said she could have just politely said no and then another bouncer came over and tried to smooth things over. We were still going to go in but then when we were trying to see if we had enough cash for our group to pay I asked if they took card and then the stank- face girl aggressively pointed at the Cashapp sign. She used no words, just grunts and annoyed faces. Then more bouncers came over and aggressively stood there. I was appalled and we all decided to leave since we felt unwelcome. BTW, I was completely sober and our small group of 4 was no threat, so why the dirty stares? I get that bouncers are there for a reason, but if that's the face at your front door, they need some training on customer service. A smile and a warm welcome goes a long way. Also, $20 cover for a hookah spot?! I've never heard of that! It sounded arbitrary to me and shady that I would have to Cashapp it! We would have spent decent money there but unfortunately, we will never try to come back.

The entire experience was a 10/10. However, I do want to say that the manager they have there was extremely unfriendly/unwelcoming and I hope he won't be the reason people complain about this place. Other than that, I definitely would go back!!

Sari A. pretty much covered our experience and what you can expect in her review, I found the prices to be fair for the stop here -- about $17 pre-tip per person. That includes a $5 cover charge, but they offer you a free water bottle, soda or Snapple as part of the deal, so it almost evens out. Sphinx is a good place to go if you want to feel young and vibrant but don't want a night of drinking. In other words, it seemed like a good chunk of the clientele here would fall on the lower end of the 18-24 age bracket. While this is very much a lounge-type atmosphere, late on a Saturday some people stood up from their perches on couches/chairs and danced in place. It was kind of weird, but whatever. The hookah itself was great. We compromised with the grape flavor and it wasn't ever harsh. Sometimes when I smoke (which is rare!), I'll feel a constant need to cough thanks to asthma, but this wasn't the case here. We replaced our coals once, and the flavor lasted a good amount of time. Things got a little sticky at one point but were later resolved by the owner. You see, I wanted to catch the train at a certain time, so I got in line for the bathroom. It was a single stall and there were two people ahead of me. When it was my turn, a young girl announced that she needed to vomit, pushed ahead of me, and puked all over the stall. Um. I asked for my check and said I needed to go elsewhere to find a bathroom ahead of my train, but the owner told me to hold on and they'd thoroughly clean the stall. They did so quickly, which I appreciated. All the while, the girl thanked her friends for worrying about her....as she stared me down with her feet on the couch and went back to smoking. Seems like a normal thing to do after making a disgusting mess and inconveniencing someone. Aside from that incident -- which was out of the business's control -- it was a pretty nice place to stop for out-of-the-box Saturday night fun. Keep in mind that the music is pretty uncomfortable (re: rap with lots of curse words and weird statements), but otherwise you should check it out if you like hookah! I'd go back if I was in the area.
