We contracted B. Rocke last year to redo our backyard. They presented us with a 3D walkthrough of their vision. We were able to scale back to our budget and then the magic began. We love the transformation. The only reason we gave 4 stars vs 5, was that there was a miscommunication in the design of the pergola. My suggestion, use these guys. Great vision. I wish i could give zero stars. The deceitful owner and company was a nightmare for our family to work with. The initial quote kept increasing and the work never got done as we wanted. Wonderful design ideas were presented that tailored to our needs as a Property Management company. HIghly skilled people from amazing designers down to the landscaping crews. You can't believe a word they say - I wish I could give ZERO stars. We were given a quote for multiple jobs around our yard, and were very clearly advised we could just cross out what we couldn't afford to get done this year (and do it later). This turned out to be completely incorrect. When we sent back the amended quote, we then received a 'sorry for the miscommunication' email advising that they would be repricing the work we wanted to get done (even though they were already A LOT more expensive than other companies). I call this dishonest, and tied-selling. Company can clearly not be trusted. read more

These are the some of the problems I encountered with this landscaping company: Work he was contracted to do and paid for he did not complete. Graded the land so water drained towards the house. Refused to honor the warranty on trees he planted that died within the warranty period. Even though he had a survey of the property and was to keep the landscaping on the property it encroached onto neighbours property and city property. He would not correct the situation. He also left excess dirt on city property and would not remove it even though the city issued a work order for it to be removed. I had to be hired to remove it at my expense. Did not abide by original estimate and tried to charge for extras not even wanted. Most of the work had to be redone anyway by another landscaping company. read more

Our home is 20 years old and backs on to one of the large retaining pond in South Winnipeg. The yard was a fairly steep hill, and we wanted to have a patio built at the bottom near the water, with retaining walls and steps leading down so we could enjoy that part of our yard. In early May of 2008 we entered into a contract with B. Rocke Landscaping to build our dream. The motto on the website says "if you can imagine it we can build it!" The owner of this company assured us that he was qualified to do this type of job. They completed the project in June of 2008 and it looked great initially. However, by late summer of 2009, just over the one year that his "warranty??" covered, it started to show problems. We became aware that he had made no provisions for water drainage or for stabilizing the earth behind the walls with any type of anchors. We have been told that this is a MUST when constructing a retaining wall of this size and with the type of slope and soil conditions they were dealing with. Since then, the scope of the damage has steadily increased resulting in the ground settling and sinking by over a foot behind the wall, cracking and pushing the it out of line. The "steps" they constructed out of large slabs of slate are sliding down over the exposed landscape cloth and the loose gravel that was laid over the clay. They are unstable and unsupported, making it treacherous to even try to go down to the now badly misaligned patio below. We have been told by others in the landscaping field that to repair this disaster will cost us as much again, if not more, than we originally paid to have the work done. We were admittedly naive in not doing enough research before we entered into the contract, We looked at the company's website and foolishly trusted in their integrity and expertise. I would not recommend this company to anyone wanting to build anything with any kind of water flow or slope issues. I just don't want anyone else to have this type of really disheartening experience.
