They offer a range of services over and above General Medical Services, including Maternity Medical Services (Antenatal, Post Natal), Child Health Surveillance (which sounds a lot more sinister than it actually is), Baby and Childhood Immunisation Clinics and more. The building has access, through the car park at the rear, for disabled patients.

I say this because I have found it hard myself when I've been trying look up certain companies information and details about the place and to have a good photograph on hand to know what the company looks like. So it is great to have people like us going out and about experiencing places like this surgery. Or by simply taking a trip down memory lane; by writing about where we have been in the past. This surgery is a small place where it has a reception desk and a waiting room for you to wait and here your name be called for a doctor's appointment. Swine Flu Vaccinations are taken place here at this surgery now. This is particularly for those people who are 65 years of age or older and women who are pregnant. You need to go to the surgery to make an urgent appointment. The building has access for disabled patients, but be aware that this is located through their car park at the rear. All records for every individual are kept confidential and this company is a part of the NHS. I recommend this place to all locals to use as the staff are very caring and kind.

Because everyone is calling, you're left just calling back - which takes time and can easily run into 50, 60 calls. Also, they don't allow you to order a repeat prescription by phone. So, you've got to go to the surgery, which takes time, wait 48h for the script to be prepared and then go back and collect it, which is just a bit backwards when a call could save a journey and hours of time. I was given this doctor by Uni - I'd advise moving if you have the choice.

Although the Surgery has relocated to City Road it has retained its friendly, welcoming atmosphere. It also has a lift for patients who have difficulties with the stairs. The Practice has a defined practice area covering mainly Roath, Cathays and Penylan. They undertake the teaching of medical students for six months of the year. Patients will be asked if they have any objections to a student being present at their consultation. Feel free to say that you'd prefer them not to be present. Morning appointments (8:30am to 11:30am) are operated on an 'open access' basis and patients are requested to telephone the Surgery from 8:00am on the day they wish to see a doctor.

From their rudeness on the phone, draconian appointment booking system, even the confrontational 'did-not-attend' warning posters in the waiting room; the whole place stinks of ineptitude and lack of compassion. My latest gripe; 11 days to input a referral into their computer, the doctor promised me contact within two weeks, and it has been 28 days until finally I phoned them. The pregnant pause I left on the phone? Did they say that little word, 'sorry'? HAHA you must be kidding.

The surgery is one of two in the area, and although the practice looks a little run down (check the photo to see what I mean), this isn't reflective of the level of healthcare that you can expect here. This is a good surgery! A lot of the patients are drawn from the foreign student population in the area, but it is also popular with UK students as well. I'm unsure whether they offer any special facilities for students (like some of the other surgeries do in the neighbouring areas of Roath and Heath), but I guess that all of their patients needs are met regardless.
