But whatever his hours, I'm glad he's always in place when I need some of the scrumptious, succulent, jumbo sized shrimp. These shrimp are great sized for gumbo, BBQ shrimp, po-boy or whatever your shrimpy pleasure. I like that he's on the side of the road & accepts credit cards, debit cards etc; that's a plus because I just don't carry cash. Additionally, even though most times he's a one man operation, he gets the job done. I've seen a line 6 people deep & he managed to get it down without anyone complaining. He takes his time weighs them out, places them inside a bag, then rolls them in newspaper, several sheets thick, might I add. I've taken shrimp back home to New Orleans without even as much as a drop of 'shrimp juice' leaking out the bag & no shrimpy smell either. I'm impressed. This is my shrimp depot when I'm in the area.

They were so damn delicious, fresh, and the heads were full of rich butter if that's your thing!! When I found myself in the area again this week, I decided to give it a shot and relive that experience. What a change. Guess they were right. I remember a delicious crawfish étouffée that I had when I went the first time which is no longer on the menu. It's mostly just fried food and hamburgers. I ordered the overstuffed shrimp Poboy that the woman said was the most popular item on the menu. It was overstuffed all right, but the shrimp were hard as rubber and tasted like they had been cooked in week old oil. It was an hour before closing so maybe that was it but that is not an excuse. I'll still think about that delicious crawfish étouffée that I had years and years ago, and try my hardest to forget this terrible meal. The Poboy itself was around $15 and the fries were two dollars extra. To their credit, they were crinkly fries, which are always my favorite and they were delicious. I wish I would've never went back and kept my memories, but I did. Perhaps I'll give it another shot one day. I hear the gumbo is good, which was the special of the day, but it was too hot for that all the day I went. Lots of interesting things inside, it looks like a roadside attraction almost. I can't understand why there's not more restaurants in this area as they are several plantations that people most likely go to visit and would likely decide to have lunch somewhere. Almost anything would blow this one out the water. I still dig the ambience.
