Including two restaurants in Lutcher that appeared to exist on Google Maps and not in real life). Tod's is a small market with a lot of made to order foods, a butcher shop, and lots of regional products for sale. You can bring home gumbo, shrimp, sausage, meat, shrimp, pizza pretty much anything! There were even giant sacks of camellia beans. I opted for an andouille sandwich on a bun and some onion rings. You order in the back. It was pretty quick, less than 5 min or so. The food was good! The onion rings were thin and crispy and the sandwich was good too, with crispy andouille slices. I would pop in here for lunch again when I'm in the area.

I hear a lot of bad things about this place but always remember that one good meal and experience…read morethat I had years and years ago. When I found myself in the area again this week, I decided to give it a shot and relive that experience. What a change. Guess they were right. I remember a delicious crawfish étouffée that I had when I went the first time which is no longer on the menu. It's mostly just fried food and hamburgers. I ordered the overstuffed shrimp Poboy that the woman said was the most popular item on the menu. It was overstuffed all right, but the shrimp were hard as rubber and tasted like they had been cooked in week old oil. It was an hour before closing so maybe that was it but that is not an excuse. I'll still think about that delicious crawfish étouffée that I had years and years ago, and try my hardest to forget this terrible meal. The Poboy itself was around $15 and the fries were two dollars extra. To their credit, they were crinkly fries, which are always my favorite and they were delicious. I wish I would've never went back and kept my memories, but I did. Perhaps I'll give it another shot one day. I hear the gumbo is good, which was the special of the day, but it was too hot for that all the day I went. Lots of interesting things inside, it looks like a roadside attraction almost. I can't understand why there's not more restaurants in this area as they are several plantations that people most likely go to visit and would likely decide to have lunch somewhere. Almost anything would blow this one out the water. I still dig the ambience. The alligator dressed in a chef suit, the interesting painting on the bathroom wall, the old country/Cajun feel but aside from that, what happened, B & C Seafood?

Geaux Fish Market…read more 9958 Burbank Dr, Baton Rouge, LA 70810 #tonylameats This was my 1st time pulling up to @Geaux Fish Market and I'm not gonna lie, this concept is Brilliant! You can literally pick your out fish and have them cook it right there. Like how fresher can it get?? I chose the Louisiana Red Snapper since it's one of my favorite fish to eat. I had to go crazy with it: * Fried Seafood Sampler: Fresh-cut US catfish, jumbo shrimp, and Louisiana oysters. That catfish?? It's easily the meatiest I've ever had; crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. * Louisiana Red Snapper this was my "foodie victim" but man, it was super tender, light crisp, just melts when you bite into it. Lowkey, it's one those hole-in-the-wall spots you don't expect to hit like this but it does, on a whole another level. I'll definitely be back. Great shrimp!!!! Great pricing!!!!…read more I'm not quite sure what the hours are, because whenever I pass this guy seems to be posted up working. I mean, I guess he sleeps. But whatever his hours, I'm glad he's always in place when I need some of the scrumptious, succulent, jumbo sized shrimp. These shrimp are great sized for gumbo, BBQ shrimp, po-boy or whatever your shrimpy pleasure. I like that he's on the side of the road & accepts credit cards, debit cards etc; that's a plus because I just don't carry cash. Additionally, even though most times he's a one man operation, he gets the job done. I've seen a line 6 people deep & he managed to get it down without anyone complaining. He takes his time weighs them out, places them inside a bag, then rolls them in newspaper, several sheets thick, might I add. I've taken shrimp back home to New Orleans without even as much as a drop of 'shrimp juice' leaking out the bag & no shrimpy smell either. I'm impressed. Usually, I fill up on two #1 (maybe three) crabs and peel the rest for other delicious meals I prepare. There was only one crab in the dozen that had "white" crab meat inside, and it was hardly even a #2 crab. I called them after opening 7 of the crabs, and they wanted me to bring them back to exchange or get a refund. I'm 40 minutes away. I asked if others had complained and they said "no". When you read the reviews below, most people know what this restaurant is and how it works. My…read moreresponse is less harsh about the service or it's overpriced charcuterie board concept. I have lived in BR for 6 years now. Many departments at LSU take guests there and in that time, Building 5 has done nothing to improve its parking lot. The restaurant sits underneath an overpass and the parking is pothole marked unpaved gravel. This means that there is no room for wheelchairs or accommodations for anyone who is differently-abled to get into the restaurant. The whole restaurant makes no room for handicapped persons. On the occasion I did get food, the food is slightly overpriced. All meats were cooked adequately but the food was lukewarm probably owing to sitting in the kitchen under the heat lamp than being delivered promptly. When I have gone, I regularly have to ask for refills on soda as I am the designated driver often for department functions. Servers pay you no heed if you do not buy alcohol. Because I go here because of academic reasons, I would barely go here myself. I've been here many times and found it wanting. It's an ableist place in its infrastructure. It's fine I'm atmosphere as a cocktail bar but would little recommend it to people I call friend.
