Worst experience ever with Uhaul! I have been using them forever and this experience was so bad, I…read morewill never use them again. I was 9 months pregnant and my husband and I were helping my mother and grandmother move to be closer when the baby came. The customer service while picking up the truck was absolutely atrocious, the woman was extremely unfriendly and unhelpful. When we were finally done we took the truck and it was shaky, by the time we got 20 minutes away to our destination it was shaking so bad we felt unsafe driving it. We took it to the local uhaul dealer there and parked it and refused to drive it anywhere so they could not try to blame the problem on us. We called corporate and we waited for hours for them to send out a technician, meanwhile we had to send our movers home after waiting for a bit (we could not afford to have them waiting around at $100/hr). We could not have them load this truck that was unsafe and take the risk of it really breaking down after loading. The technician finally arrived walked around and said everything looked good while refusing to go for a ride in the vehicle to actually feel the shaking then he left. We were furious, we called corporate again and demanded they send out another technician who would ride in the vehicle, after many more hours of waiting he finally arrived, he took a ride in the vehicle, looked it over and found that something was very wrong with the wheel bearings. He determined the truck was extremely unsafe to drive, he let corporate know. Corporate was not providing another truck for our move the next morning (btw this was an entire day affair 12 hours at least). We had movers arriving the next morning to load the non existent truck so we had to drive an hour to rent a Penske truck in the early AM (a time they usually only allow commercial pickup, but they made an exception for us). The Penske rental went so smoothly and the truck was so much nicer and actually 100 sq ft bigger than the same sized truck we got from Uhaul. If we had taken the truck Emerald City Laundry gave us on our move I'm sure we could have very possibly been in a very bad potentially fatal car accident. Putting my husband's life, my life and our unborn child's life at risk. UHAUL NEEDS TO DO BETTER. TAKE CARE IN YOUR CUSTOMER'S LIVES AND SAFETY. They just wanted to sweep the problem away without a care until we fought for hours on the phone and waited hours on end for technicians to come. This is NOT the way moving should go, it is already stressful enough to move! Moving companies should help make your moves stress free! NEVER USE THIS COMPANY. PENSKE IS THE WAY TO GO, DO NOT HESITATE. Even though they are more expensive you get a bigger truck and a stress free moving experience with great customer service!
