You get a lot at LeGym for what you pay…read more During the Summer, Fall, and Winter semesters - Concordia students pay $60 Staff, Faculty, Alumni pay $120 Public pays $150 Depending on when you buy your membership (ie. at the start of the semester or the middle), the price gets adjusted according to whatever remains of the semester. The trainers are friendly, fun, and very knowledgeable. They charge $25/hour, and if you have exceeded 30 training sessions, then it becomes $20/hour. The space is not the largest, but good enough, providing all the weight training and cardio equipment you may need. To be exact, 10,000 square feet of training space, with 75 up-to-date cardio machines, and 75 strength stations. It is not constantly jam-packed, but does have its peak hours. They also provide a towel service, and have made the vicinity wheelchair accessible. The gym is in the perfect location for those who live and/or work downtown, study and/or teach at Concordia, and use the Guy-Concordia metro often. It is also in the ideal location to find a quick bite before or after your workout. There are a variety of classes offered too, ranging from yoga to pilates, martial arts to kick-boxing, and many, many others. They last for about a month and a half at a time, and incur a separate charge. To me, this is one of LeGym's downfalls, as I wish it provided full access to classes, as well as the gym's facilities. Despite this, however, you still get great quality for what you're paying. I'm a regular and I love it here.

It's an excellent gym, the staff is friendly and helpful, and you get stuff that is not always…read morethere in other gyms like bumper plates and lifting platforms. There is also a lot of squat racks, machines, pull up bars, a nice dumbbell area, and for people who enjoy indoor cardio there are plenty of cardio machines. But there is only two benches for bench press. The fact that it's so awesome and so well located is also the cause of it's worst inconvenience: past 3-4 pm (and even as early as 7am) the weight section will be crowded, all of the squat racks and the bench press stations will be used. So you have no choice to work in with someone else, which is inconvenient as you are usually using a different poundage, or a different exercise. In those cases you have to strip and put back the weights on non-stop. So there you go; if you enjoy all the perks (and the low price I didn't mention earlier), and you don't mind sharing a bar with one or two other lifter, this is a good place to build an impressive physique or reach a new strength level.

It has gone through numerous ownership…read moreand administration changes, however the current owners are the worst this gym has ever had the misfortune of having. These owners are the same owners of the gym that used to be near Place des Arts, on the other side of the Musique Plus building. If you are familiar with what that used to be, then you know the condition of this gym. What's wrong with it? Everything. They vandalized their own elevator. You get onto the main floor and the younger looking gym flunky is the rudest and most moronic person there. It takes a lot of explanation before he finally seems to understand your statement. Then flat out lies to you. I asked if the gym opens at 6 AM, as is indicated on their Facebook page and their schedule from the last time I was there. They told me the staffer who opens it that early is on vacation. It'll open at 6 in two weeks. Two weeks later, still not open at 6. I ask why, they tell me that the city won't let them open. Wait another two weeks. Come back and still not open at 6 in the morning. Still no refund. A far cry from when this used be open 24 hours every weekday. Windows are nailed shut because "the owner told him to." Sure. The locker rooms are horrendous and filthy. Some faucets don't work. Those that do, have hardly any water pressure. Also, faucets are not secured to the counter. One easily falls over when turning on the tap. Showers are filthy. Toilet smells and looks filthy. Urinal doesn't flush properly and has a constant urine smell emanating from it that you can smell from a few meters away. The locker area itself is filthy and is mopped with a filthy grey mop. You actually see it spreading more filth across the floor than actually cleaning. The equipment is falling apart. A barbell is missing a screw at the end that secures the end to the bar. Meaning, regardless of whether there is weight on it or not, IT WILL FALL RIGHT OFF, weight, clip and all. Safety bars are bent out of shape. Miscellaneous equipment has literally been cut to pieces for no apparent reason. When asked what happened, the staff have no idea and don't care to have it replaced. Nobody bothers to put the weights in the proper places. You can easily spend half your workout hunting for plates and arranging them in the proper order. The one guy they had whose job was to arrange the plates, didn't even weigh more than the barbell and couldn't lift a plate to arrange it properly. Benches and anything with padding are mostly ripped and/or broken. They removed a power rack for no reason. A dip apparatus was removed for no reason. The plates for the barbells do not match. When the new owners took over this gym, they brought their old and broken plates with them, which was unnecessary since there was an abundance of iron plates and no broken rubberized plates. Their kettle bells are plastic and have been broken. I hope nobody was hurt. Holes in the walls that take months to have repaired. Same with the cracked windows. They no longer allow people to open the windows on hot days, so the poor air conditioning is all you have to rely on. The top floor is poorly organized. There is a hardwood floor next to the heavy lifting area that used to be for stretching, calisthenics and other things that required free space. Now it is used for cardio classes with loud shitty music and screaming participants that make it hard to focus on your lift. Back in the day, there was a wall between the two areas. It was broken down when they decided to stop classes. Now that these owners have revived cardio classes, they still have no idea how useful a wall would be. The cardio machines have been downgraded. Before the current management, there were at least two treadmills and numerous other machines that had heart rate sensors. These have been removed in favour of cheaper machines that sometimes do not work. Various water fountains do not work properly, blaming it on "the city". The workout areas are nearly as filthy as the locker areas. Overall, avoid this gym. There are better ways to spend your money. When even most of the staff dislike the new owners, you know there's a problem. If I could give this a zero or a negative number, I would.

I was fortunate enough to be staying a few blocks away and already had a membership from my local Y…read more(GTA). They honour it here with very little process involved to get in. An extra bonus that they have a "plus" change-room and I had access to that as well since that was part of my membership which they also honoured. There's certainly bigger Y's than this one - including the one in my suburban community. But bearing in mind that they're in the heart of downtown Montreal, it's still a pretty good size with a bunch of amenities. The gym area is on the top (3rd or 4th) floor, so I caught the pool, a couple studios, gymnasium and others on the way up. The gym was fairly well supplied and should have most of what you're looking for. I mostly just use free weights and a running track anyway which they had available. The plus change-room was really nice! Funny enough it was quite a bit bigger than my local one, though the rest of the facility is smaller. The provide towel service, carpeted areas by the lockers, a large and well-functioning steam room and a large whirlpool. Just note that you'll need to have your own lock. My Y has a system where you can leave your card in the locker in order to bring a key with you, but this one you need your own lock. I'm not sure how it works for the other change-room. Glad I made my visit here to get energized and make a small dent in burning the excessive calories I took in on my trip to Montreal. Staff were really nice and helpful too.

Recently they changed their pay structure to be biweekly. If you're regular price individual, it comes out to a little over $30 for two weeks, around $60 a month. The facilities are decently taken care of. Nothing is too messy and they frequently have cleaners going in and out of the change rooms. The studios are pretty clean and spacious (though some classes are PACKED, even if it's inside the gym.) the change rooms are okay, I've never had issues getting a locker before. There are a variety of classes you can take and all of them are fun! I've tried quite a few of them and I don't remember any being bad at all. The teachers are great and are bilingual. Because classes are often busy, they can't really focus too much attention to you during classes. However, they are always open to speaking with you after classes. With the Y membership, you also get 10 friend passes to use and 2 fitness instructor training sessions. You have to renew your membership yearly (no, it doesn't just roll over). Staff are extremely kind and helpful in the front desk as well.

5 stars for the hot barre class, even if it's hot and painful... you feel great after!…read more Hot barre at enso is like boot camp for ladies in cute lulu lemon attire. Plenty of space in the locker rooms, showers are also clean.Downtown location is a huge plus. TLDR: Go to a class with Sarah as the instructor and fall in love with the Athletica workout…read more While my prior review was directed at my Hot Yoga experience, this one is for the Athletica class & challenge. Their Athletica course is rather new, it is a 45 minute HIIT with instructor where you rotate through 12-15 stations. I took part in their open house back in June and nearly threw up from exertion/low blood sugar from not having eaten breakfast before going. Despite my rough go at it, it was clear that the class itself was well run and that the equipment was top of the line. I had been tempted by the "30 Day Athletica Challenge" promotions that I had seen going on, but the price range is something usually out of my budget. I soon realized that the $600 annual membership to N+ might be cheaper, but I stopped going or caring after 3 months, so it costed me a lot more per class in the end! The 30 day challenge goal is to complete 21 days of classes out of the 30, two days on, one day of rest. Complete it, and get rewarded with 5 additional classes (usually $100-$115+ tax). Coming from a background of a severe multi fracture injury, scoliosis and other wonderfully inconvenient breaks, dislocations and sprains, I thought that a guided challenge with coach would be of great benefit to me, who still doesn't know how to use basic gym equipment. Not only did Sarah and Marina offer modifications in their explanations for people with knee injuries like myself, they actually check in with everyone as the class goes on to ensure that everything is okay, to adjust any errors in technique and offer swapping out weights/movements as needed. Key points to an effective workout; Consistency: 30 day challenge to put you in the habit Realistic goal: 2-3 days on, 1 day off, also their classes are EVENINGS so you're already up and about, no sleeping through! Motivation: Sarah and Marina cheering you on with their energy and great playlists Technique: They don't miss a beat and correct you as needed Variety: Stations change from one workout to another (get to know a TON of at home exercises!) Effectiveness: HIIT wins! Cardio, strength, core and balance training included! How this class works for everybody no matter where on the feeble to fit spectrum you fall, your workout can be adjusted via intensity/speed/weights. (ie; set the treadmill speed 4km vs 10km, use the 5lb weight vs the 20 lbs weight etc). I completed 12 of my classes in my first 14 days and was blown away by how much more energy I had and how my body seemingly began running itself better right away. Due to the mixing and matching of exercises, there wasn't really anything that became too sore other than my injured knees. Even me the amateur was able to go 5 days in a row before a day off. A week into my challenge I already found myself purchasing more classes when there was a sale so that my budget could be flexed into letting me indulge longer term in their course. Where to watch out: especially if doing the challenge, you must book your classes in advance as they can be booked to capacity which can mean missing out on your class goals. Don't hesitate to use the waitlist feature, the 3 times I did I got in. While 2 of the 4 instructors really drove the class for me, the other two did not bring anything to the table for me, to the point where I found myself cancelling a class instead of going depending on the instructor. Although Kevin has been growing on me! This was more important to me than some others might find it, particularly if you're new and need the extra encouragement, but is why I would say a first taste should definitely be done with Sarah for the full experience! If you've been hesitant, don't think twice about subscribing to their mailing list for the next sale to use as an excuse to try. They also offer 2 and 5 class deals for newbies if you want to dip your toe in the water. Oh, and this should go without saying if you've seen any photos, but their facilities are the bomb. Electronic lockers (no lock necessary), clean AF showers/changing rooms, everything is new, well maintained, and aesthetically perfect, not to mention a SUPER central and accessible location.
