My date was big on comedy shows and knew just about every new and up n' coming artist. He traveled all over the country to see these cool comedians. The comedians were hilarious, and so much of the material was relatable. The room was diverse and filled with easy-going people who came ready to laugh and can actually take a joke! The space is much smaller and more cramped than I anticipated. Because you really can't get up and move around during the show, you're encouraged to order both drinks at once. I completely understand why they do it, but it made the experience feel a little more rushed and confined than I'm used to. The drinks were hit or miss. I really liked the pre-made espresso martini cocktail, it was actually quite good. The Manhattan, though, had a strange twang to the taste that I didn't particularly enjoy. That said, I would absolutely go again because I really enjoyed the comedians we saw. I think it's just worth knowing going in that this is a much more intimate, cramped comedy-club experience than you might expect. Definitely a different kind of night out, but still one I'd repeat for the right comedian.

I recognize that the Magic Duel takes huge pride in 5 star reviews on Yelp, which I deeply respect. But I did wish that we had seen the show in a different venue. I am no stage expert, but lights and sound do matter a lot in delivery of a magic show for a skeptic like me, going because the significant other loves magic shows. With better lighting, things would have been more "magical" (thinking bottles.) I was also surprised that a bubble artist, as good as she was in her profession, was considered a magician. After some quick research, you will end up at Magic Duel in this genre, so please go to Dupont or Georgetown.
