Warren Miller park is located off 29th street close to the Anderson Speedway. We were here…read morerecently for a baseball tournament being held at Memorial Field. Overall not a bad baseball field, I know Anderson high school (currently) plays here until their new field is built. You can see plenty of Anderson Indians logos, etc. around the property. Parking is adjacent to a UAW hall next door (in close proximity of the former Guide building that was just up the road). The park itself is up the hill and out past right field. Huge trees and plenty of shade. There is a large group of (very lonely looking) horse shoe pits facing 29th street. There is a distressed looking pavilion with some benches and some playground equipment. Lawns needed mowed badly. I'm not completely familiar with the history of this park but the scoreboard references the long gone Guide Corporation. In it's heyday I would imagine this was a place to be. Of the 3 days I was there, only sporadic dog walkers were at the park. Shoe pits don't appear to have been used in a long time. Harkens back to brighter days in Anderson as an outsider. Certain I will be back here in the future for another baseball game.

The park has a lot of room and seems to be serviceable, but not with all the upgrades that make a park appealing. The ball parks appeared underused and only one looked like it had upgraded beyond a simple playing field. The park was full of mature trees for lots of shade which can help keep the playground equipment from getting too hot to use. Nothing fancy, but adequate for kids to climb and slide on. Not a destination park, but it seemed clean and in good condition. Review #1094

Something you don't always see at bowling alleys these days. They continue to upgrade and make it even better. We have our Christmas party here every year and it is so great every year. The food is excellent and the atmosphere is wonderful. Have a great bar, tons of lanes, and they do something called hyper bowling, which is so much fun. Not a place to miss if you are in the Newcastle area.

It no longer has a funky smell and it looked so much cleaner. While the guy getting us set up for our game of bowling could have been a little more pleasant we still had a nice time. Apparently on Sundays they do this (I am not sure about other days). Everything was clean, and the kids had lots of fun. The only drawbacks were some elderly people who did not heed the "party" signs and continued to use the hot tub while the kids were in the pool area. Yes, the sign says the hot tub is not for kids their age, but of course they are going to get in(it was the older kids of the party, and none were in for very long). These ever-so-pleasant folks told the kids to get out. Okay. How about you get out of the pool area when there is a party? The kids took to jumping in the pool trying to splash the grumpy folks in the hot tub, and honestly, the adults/parents found it pretty funny. Yes, it was a party and apparently we were all acting like children. They cleaned up from the party for us! I was trying to help and get rid of the multiple open water bottles and beverages, which led to a trip through the locker room. It was also nice and clean! I cannot speak to any of the other areas, but the pool, gym and lockerroom were pretty impressive to me!

While walking along the Pennsy Trail in Greenfield, I noticed this mini park covered in shade near…read moreState Street. There is a small shelter and a mini Japanese garden that can be visited by a gravel path. Several Japanese stone lanterns are also on site. The park gets its name from the "Sister City" relationship between Greenfield, IN and Kukuda, Miyagi, Japan on the northeast side of Honshu Island. Both cities have manufacturing and agriculture as prime industries. Kukuda is also known for raising silk worms used for making silks. The park is a nice acknowledgement of the relationship between the cities, but misses out on the opportunity to tell the story between them. If the goal is bring understanding of another culture to people of your town, there should be some information posted about the relationship and the significance of the ornamentation that has been selected for the park. As far as being a park, there is a small picnic table for someone to rest while at the park. Review #3131

The desk person had the audacity to ask "what did you do" .. VICTIM BLAMING ME, when I instantly reported the uncomfortable advance made towards me. The front desk person, Jeff, never apologized to me for his remarks, but the manager did and I decided to keep trying at this place. Then tonight, my phone was stolen while I was in the sauna. The same front desk person did nothing to help the situation. If I had not paid attention, and tracked the people down and gotten it back myself, my phone would be long gone. This place is good if you need equipment, but use hand sanitizer, take long showers, and watch yourself and your stuff closely. Never stepping foot in here again. Across from the ball field is the playground which looked to be in good condition, though recent heavy rains left some standing water near the colorful playground equipment. The driveway was a single lane path (I think it was paved) that was also in good condition without pot holes. What I don't recall seeing was any designated parking for using the playground/shelter/courts. I assume folks just pull off onto the grass, which considering how flat the park is, could cause some rutting. But the park seemed to be a pleasant place to gather in this community. Trees were still on the small side, but hopefully will grow to provide some shade for visitors to the park. Review #3562
