We hired Robert and his crew for a huge project, breaking up and removing existing concrete, repouring new concrete, building pillars for our fence and end of driveway, and putting up an awning. The project started July 7, 2015. Every day we had cold drinks for the guys and snacks. We ordered pizza for the two days of the pouring of cement. Robert seemed on top of everything. Well, it is now December, we still have no awning (even though I paid for it months ago) and we have no caps for the top of our pillars. We still have his items sitting in the back of our yard. I was impressed with the work until the pour. Unfortunately we went with colored concrete and one of the four pours was a different color, not their fault the fault of the concrete company. We also have a dip in the sidewalk that collects a large amount of water, good thing we live in California otherwise it could be a tripping hazard. Some of the concrete is not as thick as in other spots, it is cracking small cracks but everywhere, but this is normal mrs. Once the bulk of the work was done, we kept hearing excuses as to why they are not building my awning or finishing my pillars. I have heard the same excuses more than once, one of his worker's wives was in the hospital. Of course when I first heard this, I felt so bad, but when I heard it again a month later, I have to wonder. I said she is in the hospital again? He changed the subject. I realize you have nickeled and dimed me all you could, I don't blame you for that you run a business. So months after we pay you for the awning you send a flake out who never returns phone calls and just shows up knocking at your door. Then, all they do is install the hinges and we don't pass first inspection. Makes me wonder if I really want them to finish the job. I hear how our awning has been cut and sitting in the warehouse since August then when we press them to put the awning up a piece has been taken from our set and they need to cut another one. Then my latest, and you can imagine the months of conversations and excuses going back and forth, the installer texts me on Wednesday, he has not heard if our awning has been cut, and weather permitting he will be here Monday. Whether awning has been cut? WTH? I heard the warehouse has been tired of it sitting there. Next our caps. Can't order the caps until fence is installed as they are very fragile. Caps for outside fragile? Next no worries boss the caps will be in within a week. This was September. Next well they messed up the caps with their other order, the small caps for the other order was your color and the big caps for your order was the color for the small caps. Keep in mind I have almost paid this guy in full. Has to reorder caps, caps will be in by end of week (first week of October). End of October, where are our caps? Really busy and haven't been able to catch up with all orders. November, where are our caps, they will be in by Friday boss. December. They will be in by December 8 boss, December 8 comes and goes. It is now December 12, I have no awning just hinges and posts in the ground that are tripping hazards, no word on caps. Funny thing, he heard I was going to put a fence in the other side of my yard and was very eager to start the pillars to match, they could start tomorrow his guys he eagerly said. There is no way in hell I will start another job with you when you can't finish two simple jobs. We have a bet whether this project will flow into January 2016 or with all the pressure we have been giving him (many texts being ignored because I need it in writing and he is grandfather has died around three times since the beginning of the project) we might actually get the project done? I will say the cement and pillars are beautiful but incomplete. If you don't care if it takes a year to get a job done, then go with him, otherwise, big red flags. Can't say I did not warn you. read more
