On the beach there's a little dock you can sit out on

This week was my first time in Cancun, and the Azul Sensatori resort made my stay absolutely lovely. When we arrived we were greeted with cool towels and sparkling champagne, and the eucalyptus aroma of the lobby relaxes you the second you walk through the doors. We had about a two hour wait before our room was ready, (poor flight planning on our part) and my boyfriend was wearing a tank top so they would not allow us into any of the restaurants, which was kind of annoying because we were starving and they had taken our luggage somewhere so he couldn't change the shirt. Our room was amazing; pretty spacious, indoor jacuzzi, walk in shower, fridge is stocked with beer, sodas and a few munchie snacks (which they restock once a day), lovely balcony with pool view. I was concerned about coming in mid November, but the weather was sunny and absolutely perfect throughout our entire stay. I would say the buffet spoon/ beach bbq/ and pool side tacos were 3 stars, but the sit down restaurants are definitely 4-5 stars depending on which ones you go to. They have quite a few different restaurant options. There is only one restaurant you have to make reservations for, la chic, and I would definitely recommend making it upon arrival because we tried to make it our second day and it was completely full for the duration of our entire stay. One thing I was annoyed with was the whole "credit" situation. When we checked in we were told we had 1,000 credits that we could use at the spa and to do certain upgrades. We went down to the spa to make our appointment and came to find that you can only use part of your credits for each thing. So basically it's just a small discount, and it would still be $250 for a couples massage including the discount of our credits. Which that's fine if you want to do it that way, but it wasn't clearly explained and we spent our money elsewhere because we thought the spa would be covered on our credits. So just plan ahead for that. Pool was lovely, lots of different pools and swim up bars. Poolside drink service, tacos at lunchtime, activities and water sports constantly. There are a lot of things for children to do, and upon arrival I was a tiny bit concerned that I would get annoyed by children (we left ours at home! Lol) but I honestly can not complain at all. There is a family area that most of the families with kiddos stick too and the whole property is so spacious and maze-like you can definitely find some seclusion if you so desire. (We loved the bar directly outside of the Mexican restaurant in the middle of the pool. Best mojitos for sure.) The beach is very nice, white sand, turquoise waters. There is a bar on the beach and for lunch there is barbecue down there. There is kayaking (you have to pay $4 per person), sailboating (no idea how much), beach volleyball, and I was surprised to see a large pottery painting set up on the beach and they actually glaze and fire your piece overnight and you pick it up the next day! One evening they had a giant dinner party on the beach for all guests, complete with live mariachi band, local vendors, and endless amounts of food, drinks, and desert bar! It was a very nice surprise. Overall we were very happy with our stay at the Azul Sensatori and I would honestly recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing and fun getaway. They really do take great care of you.

I have been to many of the Karisma resorts down in the Cancun/Rivera Maya area but this was my first family resort experience (next to a meal or two in the Generations resort) and I was looking forward to showing my kids what Mommy and Daddy experience down here. I think it was a decent representation of the gourmet experience that is Karisma, but it wasn't my favorite. Upon check in we received cold towels and were seated in the lobby. This was a first for me. We then received glasses of champagne and the kids received fruity drinks. That was nice. But then we sat and sat and sat until someone came over and kind of introduced us to the resort and gave us the lay of the land. We were unable to get into our rooms at this point so we went to Spoon for lunch and came back around 3. The rooms STILL weren't ready! So we grabbed a mojito at the mojito bar (adult only) while the kids were sitting in the lobby and finally were able to get to our rooms. The rooms were great! They were clean and spacious and had the usual amenities as the other resorts (other than the slippers) They even had kid size robes! The balcony/porch was lovely with a bright sectional, chair, and table. It was also relatively private. We enjoyed many a room service on that porch. Room service was quick and efficient and there was a lot to choose from. The menu scrolled by on the TV which was kind of annoying but I just took pictures of each screen and used that to order. The mini bar was stocked with chips, beer, water, and soft drinks and was filled daily. When we got in the room we had a bottle of champagne and later in our trip we had some chocolate covered strawberries and little dessert bites to greet us. The room was cleaned daily and they really did a great job keeping us comfortable in the room even when my son peed the bed one night (ACK!) Luckily they line it and no furniture was harmed. We had the family suite which had a wall that could be pulled closed for privacy and each side had its own TV which was nice. WIFI was strong and reliable and I think you could also make free calls to the US and Mexico if needed. Food I'll review each restaurant individually but I think overall the food was maybe a 3.5-4 out of 5. Some places were better than others and some places were downright bad. So overall it was 3.5-4. We enjoyed the food for the most part but it could have been better. Room service wise the breakfast was excellent. 5. The chilaquiles were great (had them daily) and the omelettes were so yummy with hash browns. They had fresh fruit and juice and really good coffee. We also enjoyed the pastry basket. The bagels overall were horrible. They were stale and hard and they were like that everyday and everywhere we tried them. Boo. Oh well. Not like there's a lack of food. The service here was good but not as good as other resorts. I felt like a lot of the restaurants were slow to serve and the staff, while friendly overall, was not as friendly as we've had in the past. The bartenders were all pretty good but some didn't know how to make standard drinks. But they tried. Entertainment was lacking I thought. (Could have been the time of year - we were there in early December) We went to a couple of the lobby shows and they were more funny than good lol. I wish there was more live music. I was sad that the Nickelodeon stuff was lacking. The kids club was nice and they had a decent amount of activities but it seemed more geared to little kids than my 7 and 9 year old. They went once and had fun but they had more fun just floating at the pool all day or swimming in the Ocean. Pools were nice and the temp wasn't bad. There were plenty of chairs and towels. The service was a little slow to get drinks but not a deal breaker. We have legs. Ocean area was nice with chairs and bali beds but unfortunately they're still having seaweed issues down there. However the staff was working hard to clean it up and on our last day there we had a relatively clear water day and we enjoyed being out in the water for as long as we could. Overall it was a wonderful trip. The things that were not so good were not deal breakers. I still love Karisma for what they do and the experiences they give their guests and would recommend this resort to anyone who wants a relaxing getaway with their family.

The wife and I fell in love with the Riviera Maya last year when we came for a friend's destination wedding at a Karisma all-inclusive resort. One of Karisma's key selling points was its focus on its food as a "gourmet" all-inclusive resort. As a result, we brought family, my in-laws, down for a weeklong getaway in June at another Karisma all-inclusive resort, Azul Sensatori. Located in Puerto Morelos, approximately the halfway point between Cancun and Playa del Carmen, Azul Sensatori was a sprawling family friendly resort with multiple pools, restaurants, bars (most being swim up), and beach access. The property wasn't a new one, but it seemed very well maintained. The restaurant selection was varied, ranging from your standard buffet, Mexican, Caribbean, Italian, Spanish tapas to modernist cuisine. All were, at least good, the Italian being excellent, and with the modernist cuisine being outstanding (will be reviewed separately). Even though we didn't have any children with us, the resort offered a lot of activities geared toward both young children and teens. The resort also offered through third-party companies a wide selection of tours such as Chichen Itza and excursions like scuba diving, snorkeling, and ziplining. If there was one small negative, though, it was its location. The beach in Puerto Morelos was surprisingly narrow and subject to a lot of seaweed and such to wash up each day. Frankly, it wasn't the prettiest of beaches, but the sand was still pretty soft. Azul Sensatori's groundskeeping staff (and every neighboring resort's staff, too) was up early each morning removing it and grooming the sand of their respective expanse of beach. Our ground floor room was very spacious. Being on the ground floor enabled us to have our personal hot tub and immediate access the pool from our patio. While we didn't use it, our also came with a large, in-room Jacuzzi tub separate from the shower. The A/C, which was necessary during the time we were there, worked like a champ. Our room came well stocked with juices, soda, beer, wine, and liquor. Service from check-in, the concierge team, restaurant and bar staff, bell desk, and housekeeping was all top notch. The concierges did a great job ensuring all our needs and wants were met. Housekeeping was especially noteworthy as they always left nice little artistic flourishes like towels shaped into animals or rose petals sprinkled on the bed after resetting our room each day. Azul Sensatori was a great destination for a family vacation. The restaurants, specifically Le Chique, the modernist restaurant, were major deciding factors. For me, it was a 5-star resort and a 5-star experience.

This is going in my "good not great" category. Did I have a good time? Absolutely... would I go there again? Probably not. The group I was with really did make my vacation, not the resort. We could of had a great time at a shack on a beach. In my opinion there are a lot of better resorts to spend your money at. The Pros Rooms - Big, spacious, and every one had a Jacuzzi. They also had a mini fridge that had a constant stock of beer, soda, and water. It was refilled every day so you never ran out. Concierge - If you are lucky enough to have one of these, they can make your trip. Very courteous, always willing to help, and always there when you need them. Room service - 24/7 room service. Enough said. Food options - 5 restaurants, with one of them you have to pay extra for. If all else fails, see above and order room service. The food is decent but nothing amazing. The Cons Food - The food is decent but nothing amazing like I said before. I know this is picky but I also hate how all of the restaurants have dress codes, even the buffet. I was wearing a tank top and swim trunks to the pool and stopped in at spoon (buffet) for breakfast. I was told to go back and change if I wanted to eat. Beach - Small, dirty, and lots of seaweed. The beach party is fun though. Alcohol pours - They are STINGY with the drinks. Even when we ask for a double, they were not happy. Attitude - It is about 50/50 on people who were genuine and glad to see you, and not smiling or rude about ordering double drinks (if you would give me a good drink I wouldn't have to ask for two). Overall, we had fun but would try somewhere else.

Rundown, dirty, trashy hotel. Cig burns in outdoor furniture, cig butt entire time, hatched spiders on patio. I left a day early

I cannot believe I wasted any time here. I do not recommend this place to ANYone. I booked an ocean view suite. Came in 9pm, and was told they were moving me to a kids area non suite - in building 3 which happens to be the very building the company told me to stay away from because of maintenance noise. Supposedly the highest floor is renovated and looks like the photos - NOTHING else looks like the photos. It looks like they took pics of another hotel and put them on the website. After being moved to a gross (literally smelly) room right next door to maintenance that opened a squeaky door ALL night (can't maintenance fix their own door??) the hotel moved us (after waiting in the lobby for an hour with our luggage) to a "suite", which is anything but. A small queen bed, crappy furniture, still smelly water. No small kitchen like in the photos, definitely not a suite which I paid for and have proof of, and of course still no view. I was told because building 3 is under maintenance they have no rooms - but I was just IN building 3. The man who checked us in promised an ocean view suite we paid for and he said he would call us by 9am. 1045 we go to the lobby and end up wasting almost an entire day just getting to yet another crappy room. You'll pay for meals ahead of time but they are inedible. None of us ate a thing night 1 at the Mexican restaurant. Boiled food - everything tastes the same and bland. It's literally not food you can eat. Supposedly there is a good restaurant on site for dinner but it's also extra. There isn't anywhere you can get food to go either. Poolside service is non existent. Been waiting over an hour for a tea. There is NO food service at pool but you can go to the quickie mart and get chips for $11. Everyone I talked to told me to do that. Housekeeping took 2 hours to bring a simple toiletry. I called to check and the guys didn't even see my request in the system. Water - especially shower- smells so bad that I feel nauseous and sick. Television doesn't work in either room- mostly static snd a blurry picture. Bed isn't even queen size - I'm short and my feet hit the edge. No Corona beer here - too expensive for them to buy .. Just cheap gross crap served warm. "Real drinks" I'm convinced have no alcohol. If you ask for a double they scowl at you. Paid $80 per bottle of wine tonight at this "inclusive" resort. Wtf. After the cluster they should be asking what they can possibly do to make things better. Pay do extra nights on their dime, move us to the best room possible, comp meals - something. What do they say? "Oh sorry the guy who checked you in was probably new and didn't know what to do." I'll be filing a Dispute for false advertising with my credit card - there's no meal plan when you can't eat. The only good thing is I'll probably lose weight - that's a half full glass outlook. Oh - and they're demanding we go to some 830am meeting to "only pay $70 a day for my daughters food" when she also found it so disgusting she won't eat either. There is no desk to work at- hello some of us have business to take care of! After the man who checked us in said they'd get a desk from another room, table or something today I Was told to use the luggage holder as a desk because they have none. What about all the desks and tables in your bogus photos!?! Where are they? I am ticked, feel duped. Wrong room, bad service, lies upon lies, gross, rundown, smells bad, unforeseen charges, terrible "cuisine", no drinks, no food at the pool and so on. What a joke. And a ripoff. Skip this place. Awful.

This is a really nice resort, however, we have been here since 11a and was told our room will be at 3p, so we changed clothes and chilled by the pool. No we are here for a wedding and we have an engagement at 530p. So around 4p we came to get our room # and was told it would be another hour b4 the room would be ready.. To me that was unexceptable! After going back and forth with the receptionist I asked for a manager.. She tried to explain about the room and that check in was til 3 etc.. And that was fine but now we were being told that we had to wait until 5p which is 2 hours past check in time.. We explained we had an event to go to and she said she could find us a place to change etc but I wasn't having it, especially since ppl checking in after us were getting rooms and we were told that they were different types of room.. Yea not my problem! So after back and forth we got a room. We are asked to wait about 10 mins for the guy to come get us and take our bags.. Then we find out our bags were already taken and the room was ready and we had been waiting the 15 mins for nothing.. Smh Now we were suppose to have 2 beds right yea we had 1 bed and a pull out and we were in a corner and a kiddie section and we were very unhappy. So once again I go and complain and they said they could change us the next day... Ok I was cool with that. The next day sure enough we get a better room with even a pool in front of us right outside our door so I was too happy. But what I didn't like was the fact they kept saying that we were being g upgraded.. And at first wanted us to pay and I told them I wasn't paying 1 more red cent since we're the ones being inconvenienced! No mind you ALL THE ROOMS have a jacuzzi and showers etc and they tried to tell a few of us that it was an upgrade but it came standard! So they weren't doing us any favors. Then the service was just mediocre. On the beach there was one girl that was great! If we didn't like our drink or something she made sure she redo it for us.. And although she was busy, she checked to make sure our group was good. Another thing that happen that left a bad taste in my mouth about our service was one evening we were at the 'adult' pool and there were of course others there, but for some reason once they left a lil while after staff came to our group saying we were too loud and there are ppl rooms that are around and complaining.. Funny that all of a sudden there are complaints when only the 'blacks' are in the pool area.. First off we were no louder than when the 'other' ppl were around, and secondly, don't get a room w/a pool view if you don't like noise! I just felt like we were being messed with the entire weekend... I don't want to play the 'black' card, but it certainly felt as we were getting treated less than compared to others. I could go on about all the tedious lil things but I'll spare you. These I listed were probably the most important. So if you go.. Go with caution.. It is a nice resort.. This was just my first experience and I was with a group.

One of the nicest resorts you could possibly stay, and all-inclusive. This resort was very new when we visited in March 2011. We were a couple that stayed in a one-bedroom suite in the "family building" and really liked it. They offered us an "upgrade" and we checked out three other room types in other sections. But we were happy to stay put where we were. We were never disturbed by loud kids, though we would have been tolerant since it was the family section. Everybody was happy to be here. Turns out we were over on the side in the quietest section of the whole resort. We had more privacy and a bigger room than the "best" rooms. Two TV's and a Jacuzzi inside. If you take a stack of crisp one dollar bills and hand them out freely for services rendered, all the staff will love you and bend over backwards to make you happy. The general staff don't make much money and really appreciate it, so keep that in mind. The big bucks paid by guests do not really trickle down to the line workers. I believe this resort is European-owned. We did see that a lot of guests did not give tips. It's not going to kill you exchanging a dollar bill for a drink. Have some compassion for the locals. The Riviera Maya resorts are in a very safe location by design. This hundred mile coast of more than 100 major resorts is the crown jewel of the Mexican tourist industry. Tourism safety is derived as follows: There is a main highway parallel to the coast 2 to 3 miles inland. There is no road along the coast itself. The resorts, which are on the water, are generally grouped together. At intervals of a few miles along the main highway are exit roads that lead down to the coast, to a group of resorts. At the entrance to each access road is a guard gate. Once you pass the guard gate the access road leads through a mangrove swamp, with alligators. At the end of the access road is another guard gate to pass through. Some resorts have their own individual guard gate. You have to tell them who you are and where you are going. Accordingly, there are no random vehicles down by the resorts, and very few cars on the road in these areas. Almost none of the tourists have the nerve to drive themselves, so almost everyone arrives on a tour bus. Most of the staff ride a shuttle to and from their homes in the local towns, or Cancun. Therefore, there are very few cars for the guards to keep track of. Besides, if you have a rental car like we did, your resort will give you a paper pass to display in your windshield. At intervals along the main highway are military checkpoints, but not too many. I recall there were 24 hour military checkpoints both sides of Playa del Carmen. We were never stopped, but they did check us out and have automatic weapons. We had no problems whatsoever, but we were also not taking random roads into the wilderness. No wandering around at random, which is really just common sense anyway. We didn't drive around too much at night, but did do it a few times. Our experience would have been very restricted with staying on a resort and taking the occasional over-priced lowest-common-denominator tour to the same tourist spots that everyone else goes. I'm not built that way. We kicked butt on two separate trips and had mucho fun for a reasonable price. Rarely did we remain at the resort during the middle of the day. We had things to do and adventures to meet. But we always had breakfast at the resort, and usually ate gourmet dinners there at night. It was a naughty treat to have appetizers and drinks at one restaurant, and a little later eating dinner at another. The butter-drenched steamed clams were just wonderful with a margarita or two.

I felt safe, cared for, valued and respected. 2 days of treatments at the spa were top notch. Amazing service by Eduardo, Juan, Leslie, Carmen, Denise, and Alberto. Some people say the treatments are expensive but I found that they were comparable to any nice, luxurious and exclusive day spa I have ever been to. It was worth every penny. Tons of pools and activities. I did not have to worry about finding seating. Moises at the Excellence Club pool was absolutely outstanding. He is legend around here and I can see why. Most days were spent at the beach, meditating and relaxing. I have never been taken care of better than I was by Ivan and Jorge. They were outstanding gentlemen and treated me very well and ensured I had a great week. Hibachi dinner was excellent. Rosy and Gerardo were so much fun. Food was fantastic. Erika at Aroma was a pleasure to see each night as I got a warm drink and tea to settle down for the evening. Overall, an absolutely great experience. I will definitely be booking another trip for next year.

OVERALL SUMMARY:…read more Awesome trip; great property, excellent food, friendly staff (especially Felipè, our pool server) * * * * * GENERAL SUMMARY: We book our trip and opted for the "Preferred" status with all the "extra perks" but honestly still feel that the perks were mostly hype. Having a newspaper and access to play with their computer is a waste; access to a "preferred" Club Lounge with continental breakfast and hors d'oeuvres are not as good as just walking over to any of the other restaurants, bars or coffee shop; and the worst perk to have "personalized" check-in was actually slower than regular check in because you have to wait for someone to get you at the resort entrance and then walk across the whole property the Club Lounge for check in. But I would do it again because the room location and views were worth it. I was a little annoyed by the "extras" we expected (since they were offered as promotional gifts and offers during the sales call to book the trip) since most were misleading, like the 200 dollar vouchers for use on the property turned out to be coupons. We also had a call that we had a "welcome gift" for us in the Club Lounge; that bullshit turned out to be an offer to access another property but you'd have to sit through a sales pitch. Our room's balcony overlooked the pool area that was at the pool's signature tunnel (large pool passes through one of the buildings to the infinity edge overlooking the ocean). Cabanas with lounge chairs and hammocks surrounded by colorful landscaping makes the surroundings quite relaxing. In addition to our room and view, the many restaurants, bars and entertainment were excellent. * * * * * SPECIFIC PROS AND CONS: PRO: Love the "Secret" pass thru box for room service deliveries CON: Afternoon housekeeper rarely showed up PRO: Drinks were on par for what you would expect from an all-inclusive CON: Our TV was limited to 3-5 stations that had english PRO: But Playboy was one of those channels CON: The Club Lounge wasn't a very welcoming environment to laugh or be somewhat noisy at the bar since the staff also worked in this small space PRO: Preferred hotel rooms include great views and comfort CON: Preferred check-in is not convenient or fast PRO: Loved all the restaurant and pool servers (especially Felipè) CON: Saw landscape/maintenance workers spit in the grass often (where the guests often walk barefoot) PRO: Air conditioner rattled but fixed immediately upon request CON: We passed on our "FREE" 1-day spa pass because we felt we'd be pressured with another sales pitch for upgraded services PRO: Plenty of areas for party scene and plenty of areas for quiet time CON: The newspaper was never delivered PRO: The international variety of restaurants was enticing CON: Cost for massages or a private dinner was a joke PRO: Frozen coffee at the coffee shop was excellent when we've had enough liquor (but then I had the bar spike my coffee anyway) CON: Told and verified they had bocce ball courts, but they did not PRO: Our room was great with jacuzzi tub and great bed CON: Welcome bottle of champagne was in 2 inches of ice so our wonderful thought of champagne was warm and unappealing PRO: Entire property is Smoke Free (even have a sign at the main entrance before stepping in) CON: Have an Ash Tray for smoking right under the No Smoking sign PRO: We had a stand with incense which we appreciated on the first night going to sleep CON: After the first night, they removed all the matches so no more incense PRO: The evening special shows were awesome CON: Paella was advertised for 1:30 PM one day but it was all served at 12:30 PM (sucked since I was quite excited to try it) PRO: Pool games and other day time events were fun to meet people when tired of just relaxing CON: Our room TV was tilted and maintenance couldn't fix it PRO: Had the best time taking Sushi Rolling classes CON: All offers and vouchers required us to spend more than you'd expect and the things to buy were already over-priced * * * * * * FINAL SUMMARY: Even though it sounds like the many CONS outweighed the PROS, at the end of the day, WE LOVED our time relaxing in our room or poolside, drinking frozen cocktails and taking tequila shots that were brought to us all day long, eating in all the restaurants, watching the evening shows and playing drunken bingo, taking walks throughout the manicured paths... Most importantly, I would do it again.

If I could give this resort 4.75 stars I would. I normally do not do all inclusive resorts; so this…read morewas my very first experience. I'm afraid, this resort might have ruined me for any others. Service was exceptional - no matter where we were (beach, poolside) we had servers making sure we had drinks. Every concierge or hotel employee that we saw on our stay, greeted us to say hello/good morning etc. Many people have complained about the dress code - which I can kind of see. You are on vacation in a tropical climate, so long pants probably isn't on your list of things to pack. It's also a little sexist, as many of the women are in swimsuit coverups that can pass for dresses (albeit, trashy dresses) and yet men are required to wear dress pants. We were prepared, though, because we have a great travel agent who gave us the heads up - but our friends who traveled with us didn't have the same info. This severely limited our dinner options with them. There is seaweed on the beach - but there is a conscious effort to keep the beach as clean as possible. I mean, it's nature and there isn't anything anyone can do about that. We still spent many days on the beach enjoying the sunshine and sand. Paddle boarding and canoeing is also available. The one thing that I would complain about is the food service schedule. Room service is available 24/7, but it reminded me a lot of a college campus dining (not the food quality, but the dining room schedules). Non room service food is not available at all times - so I would get hungry at 3 or 4pm and nothing would be open. I learned to deal with this by taking a banana to my room from the breakfast set, but it would have been nice to have a salad bar or something for a light and healthy afternoon snack. It's also unfortunate that you are unable to take any food from any of the restaurants to your room. One night, my husband wasn't feeling well (tequila will do that to an Italian from Chicago) and he ended up leaving dinner before our entrees got there. If I wanted to eat what I ordered, I had to stay at the table and eat - I couldn't get a to go box or anything. In a dining room full of couples, it was only slightly humiliating to eat alone - but I had Reddit to keep me company. The best meals we had were the lunch picnic/grill outs. Fish tacos, chips and guac, paella you name it! Super local, very fresh and GLUTEN FREE! Gym is small but effective, entertainment staff seemed enthusiastic and helpful, bartenders poured a strong drink and were very nice, hosts and restaurant servers where very polite and knowledgeable.

I was thinking about why I liked CDM so much. We were only there 3 nights and then went down to…read moreAkumal, but it left such an impression on me. I've stayed in more luxurious places, including Danielles in Venice. I think I know the CDM secret. It was the lack of people that you see. Nothing and no-one annoyed me here. Even in luxurious places, there is likely someone who will be annoying, or rude or abrupt or loud, or arrogant or whatever. In fact, some of the "exclusive" places have some very arrogant and superior people, and that detracts from the experience. But I don't need to tell you how annoying people can be, do I? Not that people can't be very nice also, but the more people around, the more chance someone will detract from your experience. But when you don't even come across other people (except the ones you bring with), there's no-one to possibly bother you. You go to the beautiful pool, and there's no-one there. Not even anyone doing the "reserve our lounge chairs with towels at the crack of dawn game", when they don't use them till noon. None of that stupid stuff, and no screaming kids doing cannonballs in the pool (not that I don't like kids). The beautiful pool might as well be in your own back yard. You don't hear the adjacent room through the thick walls, and you don't even see other room balconies. The grounds are designed so every balcony is private. No-ones front door is next to yours, or even nearby. You look out over the grounds and virtually no-one is walking around. You go to the pier and it's empty of people. You go to the beach and no-one is there also. You pick your favorite lounge chair location and it's open just waiting for you. The staff here were all nice and subdued and not intrusive, but were friendly if you chatted a bit to them. When they bring your breakfast trays in the morning to your room, they place it in a hutch by the front door and you don't even see them! Look at the pictures I posted. The professional ones are from the CDM website and mine are the others. You'll notice there's no-one in the pictures. Other resorts have to rope off the area to get deserted pictures like those, and when you get there it is overrun by strangers. Not at CDM. When you think of that, you should try to stay here if you ever can, even for a few days. It's actually great value for the money. What an awesome experience. They do destination weddings here, and that probably feels like you rented the whole resort, cause I'm sure the other guests would stay out of your way. I can't think of another place like CDM.

When we first arrived, we booked a swim-out room, which was nice, but the rooms and parts of the resort definitely felt like they could use some updating. My biggest issue was the AC in our original room--it was barely working, and the first night was honestly uncomfortable. The humidity made it feel stuffy, and I had a hard time sleeping. Because of that, we decided to upgrade to the club/villa section on the opposite side of the resort--and that completely changed our experience. That area is much more secluded, quieter, and feels more upscale. We upgraded to a swim-out king room there, and it was beautiful--much newer, cleaner, and overall way more enjoyable. The private rooftop pool and more exclusive vibe made a huge difference for us. The food was actually really good, which was a pleasant surprise--no complaints there at all. Overall, I'd say this resort really depends on the room you book. If we had stayed in the original room, I probably would've rated it around a 3.5-4. But because we upgraded, we ended up having a great time. Tip: If you're considering staying here, I'd definitely recommend booking or upgrading to the club/villa section--it made all the difference for us.

Everywhere we went, people were welcoming and helpful, which really added to the overall experience. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and there was no shortage of food and drinks...something was always available no matter the time of day. The ocean did have some seaweed while we were there, but the resort staff clearly worked hard to manage it and keep things as clean as possible. One of the highlights was definitely the pool ...it might be one of the biggest and most fun pools we've experienced in Mexico. Plenty of space, great energy, and just an all-around good time. Overall, a great stay with a fun atmosphere, great service, and everything you need for a relaxing getaway. We'd definitely come back.

Our Butlers were Norma, Catherine & Enrique ( who we never met) Catherine visited us twice by the pool and Norma was the main texter sweet but none didn't do very much . Some of our favorite ppl was Efrain the bartender love his sense of humor, the Bell Boy Toribio I believe was his name was very helpful, other than that everyone else was nice but nothing really stood out. We stayed in the new building Marriott Diamond Club 4th floor ... gorgeous room but no body mirror, no iron or iron board, nothing to hang your towels on in the bathroom, the shower floor is VERY slippery it really needs a rail to hold on to. Room service took 1 hr the food was cold. Ate at the Joya 2 days and some of that food was cold too. There is an Asian restaurant in the new Diamond building that no one talks about that is delicious. There is also a bar and pool table in that building as well.

We enjoyed the fact that it was so laid back, but with that being said we had wished that the bars around the pool stayed open past 5 pm and that they opened before 10 am. We love some mimosas and bloody Mary's in the morning, but unless you go to the restaurants for breakfast you are out of luck. The food was good, and the only complaints was that the pizza place is over where the kids play that is pretty far away from where we were and there were no pool side burger or taco places. They occasionally had a pop up that you could get food but it was specifically between 1-3. Don't get me wrong the pizza was great we just were not going to walk that far to wait an hour to get our pizza. Drinks were great and entertainment was good as well.
