I felt safe, cared for, valued and respected. 2 days of treatments at the spa were top notch. Amazing service by Eduardo, Juan, Leslie, Carmen, Denise, and Alberto. Some people say the treatments are expensive but I found that they were comparable to any nice, luxurious and exclusive day spa I have ever been to. It was worth every penny. Tons of pools and activities. I did not have to worry about finding seating. Moises at the Excellence Club pool was absolutely outstanding. He is legend around here and I can see why. Most days were spent at the beach, meditating and relaxing. I have never been taken care of better than I was by Ivan and Jorge. They were outstanding gentlemen and treated me very well and ensured I had a great week. Hibachi dinner was excellent. Rosy and Gerardo were so much fun. Food was fantastic. Erika at Aroma was a pleasure to see each night as I got a warm drink and tea to settle down for the evening. Overall, an absolutely great experience. I will definitely be booking another trip for next year.

All of the restaurants are great, my favorites were Basmati and Spice. The only room for improvement: I wish there were healthier options available by the pools do lunch. The taco truck is great but doesn't open until 4pm.. a little late for lunch. I don't want fries/hotdog/burger/nachos for lunch. The Linux buffet was great, but it would've been nice to have a salad or tacos by the pool. Loved the shows and trivia every night! Can't wait to go back.

I came to Quintana Roo for a few days of diving and picked this hotel because it was equidistant from Playa del Carmen and Cancun. It was a lesser known town so it wasn't overrun with tourists. The hotel itself was situated in the middle of town, so I was able to walk to various restaurants and shops. The supermarket is right across the street which made it easy to pick up supplies. The rooms are large and comfortable. The furniture is old but clean and in working order. It was such a great value for the price. The restaurant within the hotel was lovely as well. I would definitely stay here again.

The room was certainly not Fancy, but again, the view.....And then around 11:00, what appeared to be a shuttered business across the street by day, turned into the loudest most horrible karaoke bar, which continued until 2AM.....It's not in our nature to complain and figured how could they keep up that energy up for another night? Well, needless to say, they did! The next morning we drug ourselves down to the desk, we were of course told that they complain to the Police all of the time, with no response from the PM Police......Maybe it was the sad eyes that my wife made, but the two folks at the desk took pity on us....and when we came back at the end of the day, our bags were moved to the other side of the hotel....we had no idea that on the left side of the hotel, stood a totally different part of the hotel, nicely appointed, beautiful views, ( still the steps) but no noise!!!! Absolutely what we wished we would have had from the beginning! So when booking your stay here , be sure that you are booked in the new side, the left or North side of the hotel, and you will certainly have a great experience. I was thinking about why I liked CDM so much. We were only there 3 nights and then went down to…read moreAkumal, but it left such an impression on me. I've stayed in more luxurious places, including Danielles in Venice. I think I know the CDM secret. It was the lack of people that you see. Nothing and no-one annoyed me here. Even in luxurious places, there is likely someone who will be annoying, or rude or abrupt or loud, or arrogant or whatever. In fact, some of the "exclusive" places have some very arrogant and superior people, and that detracts from the experience. But I don't need to tell you how annoying people can be, do I? Not that people can't be very nice also, but the more people around, the more chance someone will detract from your experience. But when you don't even come across other people (except the ones you bring with), there's no-one to possibly bother you. You go to the beautiful pool, and there's no-one there. Not even anyone doing the "reserve our lounge chairs with towels at the crack of dawn game", when they don't use them till noon. None of that stupid stuff, and no screaming kids doing cannonballs in the pool (not that I don't like kids). The beautiful pool might as well be in your own back yard. You don't hear the adjacent room through the thick walls, and you don't even see other room balconies. The grounds are designed so every balcony is private. No-ones front door is next to yours, or even nearby. You look out over the grounds and virtually no-one is walking around. You go to the pier and it's empty of people. You go to the beach and no-one is there also. You pick your favorite lounge chair location and it's open just waiting for you. The staff here were all nice and subdued and not intrusive, but were friendly if you chatted a bit to them. When they bring your breakfast trays in the morning to your room, they place it in a hutch by the front door and you don't even see them! Look at the pictures I posted. The professional ones are from the CDM website and mine are the others. You'll notice there's no-one in the pictures. Other resorts have to rope off the area to get deserted pictures like those, and when you get there it is overrun by strangers. Not at CDM. When you think of that, you should try to stay here if you ever can, even for a few days. It's actually great value for the money. What an awesome experience. They do destination weddings here, and that probably feels like you rented the whole resort, cause I'm sure the other guests would stay out of your way. I can't think of another place like CDM.

Layla Guesthouse - The view from the rooftop

This is a very quiet little guesthouse tucked away…read moretoward the very end of a main road (that turns residential and dead ends right before the docks). If you're going to stay here, make sure you let them know when you're going to arrive as there doesn't seem to be a front desk. I called when we got there and we waited for about 10 minutes until Genevieve got there. Not a problem though because I do understand it's not really a traditional hotel. The grounds themselves are beautiful. There's lots of green space, and there's also a little pond with two turtles in it. Hopefully someone is feeding the turtles because when we were there we gave them like 2 whole avocados over the span of 3 or 4 days - them seemed famished. The pool is OUTSTANDING. It's not a traditional pool, there's not really much space to sunbathe, but it felt SO good after a long, hot day at the beach or walking around town. Plus it overlooks the ocean. Our favorite part of the place was the rooftop. Stunning views. Unfortunately the room we stayed in had window that overlooked a tree and a wall. There was a little window at the top of that wall, and no curtains on it, which made for a daily wake up time of whenever the sun came up. BUT, their neighbors started building a wall right outside that window. The stairs they were using to get to their roof were right outside that window, and any of the workers could've looked in our room, and directly down into the bathroom/toilet. I let management know and they came not more than two hours later to measure the window and make a mesh curtain for it. I was VERY pleased with how quickly they reacted to my email. It's unfortunate (and not Layla's fault) that there was a wall built, but I suppose that solved the sunrise wake up every morning. Other than that the room (selva) was nice. It had a little cooktop, sink, microwave, refrigerator, and coffee maker. The refrigerator froze almost everything we put in there, and we were unable to mess with the temperature. They had dish soap, hand soap, and I think body wash as well. Beach towels were provided though they're old and stained. The pillows were mish mash as were the pillow cases. I thought they had a restaurant and yoga classes and a salon, but everything was closed. Overall I'd recommend this place. It's a wonderfully affordable option and the entire staff is nice (I think we interacted with 5 of them; they'd come during the daytime). The views can't be beat, and the quietness of the location really amplified the charm that is Puerto Morelos!!!!

Martin was absolutely amazing -- super attentive, incredibly helpful, and genuinely warm. He made my trip unforgettable and truly relaxing. Employees like him are the reason this resort still shines. Unfortunately, the food experience was very inconsistent. The buffet was terrible for breakfast, lunch, and dinner -- honestly awful and not worth the time. Seaside, which is a Preferred Club only restaurant, was frustrating. Breakfast seating cuts off sharply at 10:10 a.m., and they will not seat you even if you arrive just minutes late. Lunch service there is extremely slow, often taking over an hour for food to arrive. Room service is no better, averaging 1.5 hours wait time. The Italian restaurant was the highlight food-wise -- every dish we tried was excellent -- but unfortunately, the service there was poor, which took away from the experience. Seaside for dinner was also disappointing; service was bad and the only decent dish was the half chicken. The beach is well maintained and staff do their best with seaweed, though there is still some present. The water was cold and somewhat dirty, which made swimming less enjoyable. Overall, this resort has excellent staff and service personalities, but outdated rooms and disappointing food significantly impact the experience. With major improvements to dining and room updates, it could be much better.

We had a delightful cabin with two double beds, a tv, a/c a kitchen, dining table, bathroom and furniture. It was great. It had a rustic aspect, and a rustic thing happened lol. Even though i would not exactly call an apartment with electricity and cable rustic... it is in a certain way. I just can't bring myself to say what lol. I would describe the hotel as "one lot back" from the beach. the location is excellent and in a way... it is on the beach because of te extense of the beach, but there is another building between the sea and the Amar Inn so it is not oceanfront... though some rooms probably have sea view depending on how they are situated. But there is a little road to the beach. Perfect. Puerto morelos is a quiet relaxing town. We are too old for playa del carmen. We love to just chill here.
