In 2019, my wife and I decided to purchase a Goldendoodle addition to our family. We texted Joella regarding the opportunity (Operating under Phoenix Doodle Ranch - no website - instagram only - same phone number). Her communication was spotty, but we agreed on a F1B apricot Goldendoodle for $1,850.00 and picked him up on November 17th, 2019. Joella never provided the dog's parents information, and would send us photos of an apricot coat doodle (which we requested), stating she would have a male available for us. Well we show up in San Tan Valley, and there are 2 males with light tan coats... No apricot doodles. They informed us it is common to have varying colors and thought nothing of it. We feel in love with the dogs personality and took him home. We often received remarks from other dog parents, questioning if it was a labradoodle, and brushed it off as him having a light coat. Well.... Fast forward 8 months to when we received a Wisdom Health Panel through our veterinarian as part of our his puppy health plan. The results.... we were defrauded. Paying a premium for what we believed to be an F1B Goldendoodle, when the dog is actually part lab (12.5%), part golden (25%), and part poodle (62.5%). The panel shows the parents were a labradoodle crossed with a goldendoodle. The dog is a bundle of joy, but the less than 75% poodle mix has left his hair straighter than most. Requiring more frequent grooming and issues with matting. I contacted Joella to discuss the recent findings, providing screenshots of our conversations confirming she would provide an F1B, and screenshots of the health panel proving otherwise. She responded that she sent in testing for the parents in question, 2 minutes later said the male is 100% AKC certified, and said she would give a full refund if we brought the dog back. I explained the dog is part of our family and we love him, but would agree to a 50% refund AND I agreed to pay for an additional DNA test out of my own pocket to confirm. She reinforced the only refund she would make is if we brought the dog back, and requested I never contact her again. I've gotten 2 doodles from this breeder, 5 years apart. The first one had parasites when I got her and I took care of it and moved on, I was inexperienced and thought it was part of getting a dog. I have more experience now, I got the other puppy a couple weeks ago, she had diarrhea for days and upon taking her to the vet, she had Giardia, Spirochete and coccidia, costing almost $300 after spending $1450 to get her. I let Joella know, and she apologized, acting surprised that there were any parasites and said she'd pay for it. I then spent 3 weeks trying to follow up to get reimbursed for the vet with no response from her. I ended up having to take the puppy back to the vet and she still had giardia, requiring another round of antibiotics. Joella finally responded and reimbursed me $76 out of the now over $400 in unnecessary vet bills. She also came up with excuses as to why she didn't have photos of the puppy's parents, and ignored any texts that related to any important info about the puppy. The puppy is sweet and healthy now, but just a heads up if you choose Azdoodles, you will end up paying double the original price to get the puppy healthy, along with dodged questions from Joella. I recommend finding another breeder, and do your research on BBB. read more

I do not recommend this breeder. She is flaky and will not answer any "important" questions about the puppies. She is unaware of what puppies have already been sold and what she has left, upon arriving to pick up the only puppy I was sent a picture of, turns out that one was gone and there was only one left. After dealing with diarrhea, I took the puppy to the vet and she had 3 different parasites. Joelle (the breeder) acted surprised by this information and agreed to pay for the vet bills for it. I sent her the receipts the same day she offered to pay for it and heard nothing in return, I had to text her for 2 weeks before she responded. I sent her a paypal request for the amount shown in the receipts ($278), Joelle denied the request and instead sent me $76. After taking the puppy for a follow up appt, she STILL had giardia, costing even more in vet bills and medications for the pup. The puppy then had a reaction to the medications, causing us to have to rush her to the animal hospital where she had to stay overnight, costing $1,000. In just 2 weeks after picking the puppy up, I went from spending $1,450 to pick the puppy up, to spending almost $3,000 for the puppy and then vet bills to get her healthy. Like so many others here, we received a puppy from AZ Doodles that had Giardia and Coccidia parasites. In our case, Joella used her 21 year old daughter as the middle man to sell the puppies since the AZ Doodles reputation is so scarred by the many negative online reviews and F rating from the BBB. Our experience: We saw an online golden doodle ad (not posted by AZ Doodles) and went to meet the puppy. We bought him from a gal named "Ronni" who claimed to be a nursing student trying to make some extra money by breeding her Golden Doodle for the first time. Shortly after we got home, our puppy had diarrhea and after some thorough research, we realized that Ronni is actually Joella's daughter from AZ Doodles. Come to find out, the story of Ronni breeding her dog for the first time that produced our puppy was a big fat lie. Our puppy sadly came from this same disgusting puppy mill that repeatedly breeds sick dogs with parasites, fleas, mites, genetic conditions and many other issues. I'm beyond livid. Joella and her daughter are repeatedly and knowingly making a profit from selling sick puppies. They have a long history of doing this and hurting multiple families. RUN!!! We tried buying puppy from this business. Owner was very responsive until we asked for specific details regarding our future pup. Could never answer specific details only vauge/general questions that could apply to any dog. Once we submitted a non refundable deposit I heard NOTHING not a peep back from the breeder. Was never added to a waitlist nor given a dog. Take your business elsewhere and don't even open your heart to the possibility of receiving a puppy. If you want to rescue a sick puppy, go here. So far, our new 9 week old puppy has been treated for malnutrition associated with extreme diarrhea as a result of intestinal parasites. During our first vet visit, we discovered the Giardia and Coccidia and started treatment. The second vet visit, two days later, was for lethargy and not eating or drinking associated with the malnutrition. We are going back to the vet for the third time in a week for an ear infection resulting in green tinted goop coming out of his ear. Our poor little fellow is so sick, it's going to take him awhile to recover. We received a Canine Health Record with dates for deworming and vaccinations. At this point we can't even verify these were actually done so we are starting over on those as well. We are not even sure we got a goldendoodle as advertised! We worry about the other dogs who were lethargic and not eating. We had concerns when we got their, but our heartstrings tugged at us and we just couldn't leave our pup there. It has become evident they are a front for other breeders as well. There's no way their dogs can produce a litter for sale in May of 2018, then again in July of 2018, then again in August of 2018. Again, if you want to rescue a puppy who is going to need some care and extra love go here. If you want a healthy puppy, go somewhere else. read more

She just had her first doctor exam and she is Very Healthy. If you are thinking about getting a puppy we would definitely recommend her. I received the recommendation for getting a Goldendoodle puppy from AZdoodles after speaking with a parent at a little league game. After texting the owner Joella to find out if they had any new puppies available she explained that they had two left. It just so happened that they had one available that we wanted in a particular color. Even though we were able to pick up our puppy we were never able to actually come in contact with the owner Joella. We picked the puppy up from joella's house in Mesa and her daughter was there instead. Her daughter gave us the puppy with nothing else accept a card with the dogs recent shots. When we took the dog home everything seemed fine until we took him to the vet for the first time. It turned out that he had Giardia which is an intestinal parasite that dogs get from unclean areas. I texted Joella and she explained that this is a common thing and most dogs have it. After about a hundred dollars of medical bills for the dog he eventually was clean of the parasite. For some reason we thought it would be a good idea to get him training which Joella had on her website as being her passion. It cost $1, 200 to have the dog trained for 3 weeks in Joella's care. A week before our dog was scheduled to go to training we became concerned because our dog had not finished his vaccinations fully. I texted Joella and she said she would take care of the final vaccinations herself and didn't need to worry. When I asked my veterinarian they said they would not certify the dog if she had done it so Joella said she would take our dog to our vet to have him vaccinated while he was in training. Although we had not spoken to Joella and only communicated through text we were stuck due to having already paid the training fee. We also found out that he would be taken up north so he could do a lot more outdoor training as it is a lot cooler in northern Arizona. During the three weeks we never had any contact from Joella and repeatedly asked for images of our dog. We also asked if she was able to take our dog to the vet for his final vaccinations. She never responded until two days before we were ready to pick him up. She explained she did not have time to take him to get his vaccinations and therefore was susceptible to whatever was around him including Parvo. When we got him we had to pick him up from once again Joella's daughter at her apartment. At this point we still had not spoken on the phone or met Joella in person. When we got home our dog seemed very off and began to have massive diarrhea. We decided to take him to the vet again and not only did he have Giardia again, but another intestinal parasite along with double ear infections. Not only this but we were never given any information about what exactly Joella accomplished with our dog. She never once met us or took us through how she trained the dog. Finally after multiple texts and phone calls complaining about all the problem did she finally respond. In the end Joella told us multiple times that she would come and show us what she did with our dog but never followed through on that agreement. The only thing that our dog could do consistently was sit. She did however leave us a very sick dog with no training and basically stole our $1, 200 we paid to have him trained for 3 weeks. I would say to very much be aware of AZ Doodles and how unprofessional they are as a company and owner. The only good thing I can say is that Joella finally agreed to refund us $600 to pay for any medical bills that are dog received after the training. We love our dog a lot but wish we would have made a smarter decision with sending him to training with Azdoodles. Buyer beware!! read more

So funny that I find these reviews after my own runaround game w/ Joella in the past week. I knew something was off w/ her but thought I'd play her games until I met the parents to see for myself. When we were talking about money and talking about bringing another friend to visit who was also interested - she was quick to respond. When I pressed to schedule a meeting w/ the parents she "went dark" as another reviewer mentioned. She also had a ridiculous excuse as to why she cancelled our initial scheduled meeting. She rescheduled another time, then disappeared after I asked for her address. She tried to pressure me into taking a puppy home "that day" when I hadn't even met her or the parents. Then magically when it's time to finally meet, the puppies were sold. That was when my friend found these reviews and showed them to me. Buyer Beware! After the death of our family dog who was a support dog for our youngest daughter who has a severe chronic illness we purchased a golden doodle from AZ Doodles. From the first day we brought the dog home he had severe diarrhea. We took him to our vet and found he had multiple parasites. Treating these parasites took multiple vet visits and antibiotic courses costing hundreds of dollars. The owner of AZ Doodles apologized and said she had irrigation on her property that likely caused the issue. She agreed to pay for the expenses but never honored that commitment. We love our golden doodle. He has been a joy to our family. However, we don't appreciate AZ Doodles selling us a dog with parasites that could have caused further harm to our already critically ill daughter. Although our dog is a delight I recommend purchasing elsewhere. Honesty and integrity is lacking with this breeder. read more

We got our "Ellie" from Joella about a month ago. Joella was extremely knowledgeable and very helpful when deciding which puppy would suit our family the best! When we went to Joella's house to pick out our puppy, I wasn't excited at all. We lost our previous Golden Doodle about a year ago and my heart is still broken. Joella could tell how guarded I was with my emotions, so she kept in contact with us for weeks after we picked her up. She wanted to make sure that I would accept her and welcome her into our family without any hesitation. She contacted me and asked me to send pictures, so she could see how much she had grown. Imagine my surprise to find the previous post after Googling "Arizona Dog Breeder Ratings". I too, have had the same experience with my pup which I brought home on February 26, 2015. He had runny, bloody poo from the night I brought him home. I took him to the vet the following Wednesday and received the diagnosis (Giardia) the following day. In the 10 days since I've had him, my experience has been much the same as the previous reviewer has described except that I'm only on my 2nd week of dealing with this. I am hoping and keeping my fingers crossed that I can eliminate the parasite quickly. As the previous reviewer wrote, when I met Joella she seemed knowledgeable and like she was a responsible breeder with years of experience but there's no way a responsible breeder would behave like this. We'd like to preface this by saying we did not go into this purchase blindly. We know 2 separate families who in total own 3 dogs from AZDoodles. Neither of them had the experience we had and only had good things to say, hence the reason we let this go on for so long before making our decision. For the last two months we have been on a waiting list for a puppy from AZDoodles. There were a lot of red flags throughout the process and we are hopeful that sharing some of these will prepare others during a search for a new fur baby. When we first heard from the owner, we received a text regarding a litter that was available now. Due to timing & moving soon, we decided to hold off on what was available at the time. We were told she also had another litter just born & got a picture of mom, dad, and the litter feeding so we decided to put a deposit down. We were told the litter would be ready mid-September (which wound up really being mid-August which was another red flag). On multiple occasions we asked for more pictures or videos of the puppy and were told she would send them on a specific date. I know business owners can get a little busy so I let it slide before asking again 15 days later. Of which no response. I allowed 11 more days to pass before asking nicely (again) for more pictures. Finally got a picture of the puppy. I was able to speak to her on the phone with more specific questions as this would have been my first time purchasing a puppy from a breeder. She had offered to FaceTime with the puppy on the day we spoke but had cancelled and scheduled for 2 days later. The trend continued and she never FaceTimed the day she had requested we reschedule to. At this time I text her to schedule the the pick-up day for the puppy to be on the 23rd. We had received confirmation since there is a difference in our work schedules and my fiancé would arrange to have that day off from work. When the puppies were old enough to have visitors, we scheduled to meet up on Sunday the 12th. We were told we could buy a blanket to swap out with her to get our current animals familiar with the new puppy coming into our home. As we got closer to the visit, we had not received a response back on the time or location to visit the puppy. We reached out on Thursday the 9th and again on Saturday evening the 11th. Still nothing. We finally got a text on the day of our scheduled visit canceling saying she was out of town and will not be home for another week. We gave her the benefit of the doubt thinking maybe something happened with family and had told her we were OK with a video of the puppy instead. That same day we reiterated the pick-up day, of which she confirmed yet again, the 23rd for pick-up. Another week had gone by without a video of the puppy and I had reached out with questions on how soon after picking up puppy we would need a vet visit. No response. I waited 5 days for a response and decided to send another message asking the same question. No response. We waited another 3 days before calling at which point the number was out of service. At this time we were 2 days out from picking up the puppy. We were upset that we not only wouldn't be picking up our puppy but also we most likely had lost out on our deposit. I went ahead and requested our deposit back via the same method it was sent. Shortly after sending it she text me from a new number saying she forgot to text me and that the puppy would be available to pick-up on the 25th... 2 days after our scheduled pick-up date. At this point we had already taken days off for our pick-up and that was the last red flag. During the week of no response from her, we reached out to another breeder to start looking elsewhere. We had received more pictures, videos & phone calls from this other breeder in 1.5 days than we have in the last 2 months with Azdoodles. In the end, we asked for our deposit back as that only seems fair due to the lack of trust that was built along with emotions, energy, efforts, money & time. We did not end up getting a puppy with Azdoodle (nor did we get our deposit back). We started reading new reviews left of her business and feel we made the right decision. I feel terrible for those who have had a tough experience with their puppies from here and only hope my review will help others prepare before making an expensive mistake like we did. We understand that things in life happen & we were trying to be understanding of that but as a business this shouldn't be how things are done as we are paying for their service. read more

We purchased two puppies in June from Joella. Puppies both had Giardia, Coccidia and fleas. This is not a reputable breeder. She advised us that none of her pups had any ailment and when we gave her our bill for the Giardia she said she would pay for their first treatment. Never received any compensation. We have had our house professionally cleaned, we have ongoing Vet expenses as we are on our third treatments for the Giardia, Flea medication and now we have to provide them with prescription food. It is not the puppies fault just an unethical breeder. She should be shut down. I too will be reporting her to the Better Business Bureau, health department and Mesa Animal Control. DO NOT BUY A DOG FROM HER!! I wish I could give no stars, or negative stars but I can't, I believe Joella is a front for a puppy mill, or is a bad breeder and her positive reviews are fake. She doesn't respond well to texts when you ask for pictures of your pup, or sends random pics that aren't of the correct dog. She can't keep the dogs straight. The dogs on her Facebook and Instagram are not the same dogs she has available. She doesn't respond when you ask who the parents of your dog are or provide pictures of them. We bought a puppy from her that we couldn't meet until the day she was ready to take home. Interestingly enough (which I didn't think strange at the time until I look back) she had just been bathed. She seemed fine at first but we quickly discovered she had diarrhea which quickly turned bloody. We took a stool sample to our vet and she had Giardia and Coccidia, not uncommon in puppies to have Giardia but she had both, which is rare. She was also undernourished, which is ridiculous in an 8 week old puppy. Turns out she also ended up with ear mites, yeast and bacterial infections in both ears...I am about $500.00 in for vet bills for a dog that was supposed to come from a private breeder at a cost of $1450.00. Now that my puppy from Azdoodles is about a year and a half old, he continues to struggle with digestive issues / giardia that he's had from the time I adopted him. It seems that giardia burrows into a pup's intestines to resurface periodically and so is very hard to get rid of, even if a fecal sample comes back negative. We have had at least five episodes of giardia and are currently dealing with another bout of runny poos. Our vet has suggested that we do some expensive lab testing (but again, she's warned us it's "expensive"!) to figure out exactly why he has so much trouble with diarrhea. He is a sweet, sweet dog, but is far from hearty. I'd estimate I've spent at least $1,500 in vet bills since I've had him related to trying to fix runny poos. Rather than enjoying our sweet boy, I'm stressed out over his poor health, the resultant medical bills, and the inability to send him to daycare / boarding when he is sick. Definitely look for a breeder that offers a health guarantee on the puppies which AZdoodles does not! read more
