While I was speaking with her she put me in a room, that was trashed and said she'd only give me 15 minutes with the provider because "their practice had other patients that needed help" She completely humiliated me and made me cry. No compassion. No referrals to an actual specialized psychiatrist. No admissions to inpatient psychiatry. Her encounter with me left me severely depressed for days. She is truly an awful woman.

He he printed out that list and brought it with us to the offices -- I thought it would be embarrassed by it, but now I know it showed we meant business! We wanted to find someone who would consult with us and respect our decisions on vaccinations and antibiotics. We wanted to veer on the homeopathic side of care whenever possible. We wanted someone who respected the fact that our son was born at home with a midwife. It was hard to find all of this in a pediatrician, but in a family doctor, Dr. Scheerer was the It man. Dr. Scheerer is accomodating, I don't feel like a sardine in a tin can in his waiting room, he sits with you and really listens to your concerns. He knows his holistics but is also affiliated with St. Joe's, so you get the best of both worlds. He supports breastfeeding. He looks like he was in a rock band once, but has pictures of his family on a slideshow screensaver. Also, since he's a family doctor, he can take care of the whole fam. He sees babies every day, so we felt comfortable to have our son under his care. His staff remembers us and it really feels a lot more inviting than any other doctor I've been to. If you really like flourescent lights, a hospital setting, and a sterile-feeling environment, then he probably isn't for you. His office is in this awesome gigantic purple house near Planned Parenthood.

I have been very wary of the medical profession for a very long time. As individual people, doctors…read moreare fine, but I've had quite a few problems with doctors AS doctors -- including when I worked in an OB/GYN office. I've found them to be arrogant, to make me feel judged, and some have just not known what they were doing. Because of this, I have avoided going to doctors for years, going only to urgent care when absolutely necessary. But, I needed a prescription refill and there was not another way for me to get it, other than to go to a regular medical doctor. Dr. Lerner is the doctor my sister and nephew go to, and I've always preferred going to "known" entities. So, I sucked up my courage and made an appointment. The first thing I liked it is that she is a D.O. To me, that means that she cares about the "whole" person and not just specialization. The second thing is that hers is a family practice; I rather loved that the first thing I saw when I walked into her office was a teddy bear. I've always felt I'd do better if, even at my age, I could go to a pediatrician because they understand the fear and apprehension. I also liked that, with the sole exception of Dr. Lerner, nobody wore a white coat. And, the office did not have that antiseptic smell that so many offices have. Contrary to what others here have said, I did not find her staff to be difficult. Everyone was very friendly, quick to make a joke and (try to) put me at ease. Dr. Lerner herself is very personable. She has a wonderful manner and put me at as much ease as I could be in that situation. I noticed and liked that, contrary to most doctors, she did not stand over me while talking, but rather, took a chair that was actually lower than where I was sitting. For those who know about psychology, that speaks VOLUMES about how she views her patients. After my initial appointment a month ago, I had to go back for a consultation. Except for being weighed (which I HATE!), it was *almost* a pleasant experience; while explaining what the situation was, Dr. Lerner was very conversational. She smiled, seemed to be of good humor and was genuinely interested. I left the office thinking that she's actually very sweet, and that if she weren't my doctor and we'd met in a different place, we could be friends.

We had to stay in the hospital an extra day because he was so long. Par for the course, as both the parents are over 6 feet tall. So when we do the entire height and weight thing in the office, Seilers knocks off approximately several inches between measuring and recording. I told him he made a mistake, but he refused to remeasure and argued with me. Of course, I was confirmed correct at the next visit. What was the point and why not just remeasure? He also told me my daughter had poison ivy once when she had not been outside due to an illness in over a week. Again, argued with me only to rediagnose her weeks later when the rash got worse. I would recommend the office but stay away from Seiler. It seems to me his ego gets in the way.
