    Mexican food

This is a great Mexican restaurant if you are in the Asheville area! Would definitely recommend. I have met the owner and he is one of the coolest people you will meet. The food tastes great, with a wide variety of options to choose from (I had the Birria taco). The vibe is cozy and makes me feel at home when I visit. Would highly recommend coming to this establishment if you love Mexican food! I will be visiting again!

Nice casual dining area. Food is very reasonably priced, especially considering the inflation the past 2 years. Ordered a fajita meal, a Mexican taco meal and an a la carte grilled chicken quesadilla. All were quite delicious. The fajita portion was quite generous with plenty of vegetables and large, satisfying chunks of meat. The steak taco had meat that was nicely seared and served with onion and cilantro on a corn tortilla. Just needed some hot sauce and found that missing at the table. I asked the waitress who told me they have a salsa bar near the entrance--I was in heaven! Even the unsweet iced tea was good. Highly recommended!

This is my love letter to a dish here: * *Aguachiles (Verdes)*** Shrimp cured in lime. Served with tomato, onion, cucumbers, avocado and covered with a special spicy salsa. Oh limey shrimp cured in delicious green chili sauce, how does this combo taste so good! The perfect balance of bright flavor, spice and complimented so nicely with tomatoes and cukes. The red onions are mellowed with the sauce they lay in. Better than ceviches I've had. This green sauce elevates this dish like nothing else. Pure, simple, fresh. Eating shrimp and veggies leaves me feeling great afterwards as well since it's all good good for you as well. I'd skip a bowl of pasta or a sandwich anyday to eat this large portion of lime cooked shrimp. This Ay Caramba is related to the other two in town since the owners are related. I love how each location has its own twist with their own menus. Recently we have been driving further to go to this one vs the one next to us to eat this dish. I'm so happy our community has embraced these locations so they can continue to flourish, yet who wouldn't with food this damn good. Finally more things in Asheville with actual real flavors. Thank you chefs for this meal option I crave!

Easy to find. And so many foods for you to choose. Will order some other meals if I had another visit there.

Stumbled upon this place while in town to tour UNCA. I think this location must be new but there are two other locations. We loved the cheesy bean dip they brought to the table with chips instead of the typical salsa. However there was a serve yourself salsa bar with multiple salsas which made this salsaholic very happy. My only recommendation would be that they label the many salsas because we had no idea which were mild and which were super spicy. House margarita was basic -- a little too sweet and not enough tequila for me. Food was AMAZING. I ordered the taco combo platter with two chicken and one carnita taco, rice and beans. It was a huge platter of food and very flavorful. Daughter enjoyed her jumbo bean burrito with ranchero sauce.

    A great place for lunch!

I shoehorned myself in there and asked the guys on either side of me what they thought. One was a regular, the other also a newbie like me. The newbie said his loaded nachos were very good, but too big. I didn't want a lot. The regular told me I couldn't go wrong with the street tacos. The bartender confirmed. She was awesome, but didn't catch her name. Very nice, knowledgeable and attentive. I was going to order two steak tacos, but the bartender thought I should try the carnitas for one of them. They were both good, but the carnitas was excellent. Should have done both as carnitas! They came with a nice serving of rice and beans that were actually good! It's a big place right on Merrimon and like many restaurants on that street, parking is at a premium. There are like five spots on the side street right next to the building, but if you don't get one of those, you be walking either on the side street behind the building or across Merrimon. I was on the side street about two blocks behind the building at about 5:45pm. It's free parking, but plan accordingly. You may be walking a bit.

I used DoorDash and followed all the instruction prompts on the menu. I ordered the poblano fajitas which were $22 and did not opt for any of the add-ons which were for sauces and desserts. I did order two fountain sodas that came in small size at $3.89 each. Turns out they were just two cups filled with ice and with a little bit of soda added. The fajita that showed up was supposed to be chicken bacon and shrimp but really there was just bacon with two pieces of chicken and two shrimp. It was all in a big pool together with the lettuce the sour cream, tomatoes and the melted cheese in the larger section of the styrofoam to- go container. The order also came with chips and some really eerie looking brown dip for the chips. The two smaller sections of the container were a little tiny portion of rice and a little tiny half portion of runny beans. All of this was delivered with NO TORTILLAS-- like we were to eat our fajitas with a spoon. When the restaurant was called to be notified of this, they said that we were supposed to order the tortillas after we clicked on the fajita but when we went back to check there was no place for that to happen. As I said it was just desserts and sauces. I have to say the DoorDash was also incompetent. They refused to go get us tortillas even though the restaurant is 2 mi from my house and that's their job. Neither them or the restaurant offered to compensate anything for us. When I called the restaurant to speak to the manager he hung up on me when he didn't know what else to say. I thought we must have gotten disconnected so I called back hoping for some resolution and instead a woman answered the phone and was extremely rude. She repeatedly asked me what did I want, what did I want them to do- in a very curt manner. In the end of food was terrible on top of being poorly executed and missing components. I would never eat here again as the entire meal was $30 and there was nothing to it but a soggy soup of bacon and runny beans.

My only negative was that it took too long to get my margarita from the bar! Had it come sooner, i would have gladly ordered another one. At first I was a little disappointed, but then I saw how much food I got for my meal, and I'm glad that I didn't get the chips and salsa b/c I wouldn't have been able to eat my meal! For entrees, I got the Grilled Garlic Steak Toastadas + grilled veggies + salad. My husband got the Puffy Wrap w/ Chicken + yuca + salad. It was so much food!
