Not only did they immediately start off in all honors classes (and even some AP classes as freshmen), but they also entered high school in Spanish 3. They left NSA with confidence, character, integrity, public speaking skills, and the ability to advocate for themselves. They formed lasting friendships while at NSA and knew that all of their teachers truly cared about them. My kids were individually challenged. It is a community where the teachers and administration know all students by name. There is a wonderful support staff, art, music, or PE daily, and technology and library classes. On a good day the horrid ceilings look like espetus. The weird array of lunch food. Yes, I used to eat just French fries for lunch. I also learned in the cafeteria why you don't put aluminum foil in the microwave! I went to this school when the only housing around was the southern most tip of the South Pinery. There wasn't the Mormon church or even the amazing Carl's Jr just a mile away. We were in the middle of NOTHING. I loved almost every teacher I had. The theater and band were quite good and well renown in the area. Same for the football team. Granted it has been almost nine years since my graduation, but my heart is still filled with Mustang pride! I'll miss sneaking outside of the second floor door to have a smoke...or having the worst Chemistry class experience ever. I miss you Ponderosa, and yet... I don't at all.

So . . . if you aren't interested in music at this level, please read no further. If you are interested, then "this level" is not even accurate. These kids were fantastic! Each Concert segment (Concert Band, Symphonic Band, and Wind Ensemble) played three pieces and each time they had the entire audience on their feet clapping. So, yes, there were a lot of proud parents there . . . a full house even . . . on the night of a big home Bronco game no less. But they had reason to be proud . . . these were not "get-a-music-credit-out-of-the-way" musicians , , , these were musicians who know their craft. I would lay money on a large percentage of them going on to some field of music. They were that good. And you know what that means? They were blessed with excellent music instructors. It was a night of music that I won't soon forget. These kids are our future and I couldn't be prouder. And, no, to answer your question . . . I am NOT related to a single one of them . . . but I am super proud of their musical ability. The high school teachers have stated that they notice a difference and they are happy! They notice that my child had a different experience in education. They appreciate that they can read my child's homework and that they came to high school with a great foundation! It is the expected foundation to prepare them for the future.
