Edit: the owner Rachel is amazing, she is handling everything properly and if this teacher steps down from teaching the children, this is an excellent aerial school to send your child to. Today my daughter (who is 7) called me having a panic attack after leaving aerial arts early. I work during the week so her grandmother brings her. While in class today, the kids were running to get on slings and my daughter got to a sling before another little girl, who then started crying. The red headed teacher (I can never remember her name), yelled at the little girl to not cry and go sit with her grandmother if she was going to keep crying. Awful, that should've never happened, but then my daughter went to go console the girl because she has a huge heart and she's been raised to care about others. At this point the teacher BELLOWS at my daughter "(name) YOU AREN'T HELPING, GO BACK TO YOUR SPOT". My daughter has pretty severe ADHD (which aerial arts was helping with) and anxiety from issues that happened with a very mean teacher in kindergarten. When she was yelled at, my daughter went and hid behind the sling and started tearing up. My mom then asked if she wanted to go home and she said yes. After she put her in the car with her great grandmother my mom went back in to speak to the teacher. My mom walked onto the floor and said "maam" to get her attention. She continued with "you do not have the right to speak to any child like that. The worst thing you can do as a teacher is yell at a child. That was uncalled for." Do which the teacher replied "yeah, well she's ALOT" (speaking about my daughter, who we have spoken a lot to this particular teacher about her ADHD issues and my daughter had been doing so much better staying on task and really trying to learn) and my mom said "she's a lot? Well so what that. Completely out of line" and left. After my daughter called me while I was working, HYPERVENTILATING, and crying trying to tell me what happened. I am taking my daughter out of axis. I am SO happy I found an aerial arts school closer to where we live that is beginning children's classes. I was going to leave her in axis until those classes started but I refuse to subject my child to a teacher who shouldn't even be around children. It's very apparent she has no control over her temper and she has an ego the size of a yacht. I had seen glimpses of this lack of emotional control from her in the past when I was bringing her, but it wasn't to this extent so I just assumed she was having a rough day. But to let your temper get to that level while teaching small children is DISGUSTING. She should be pulled from the position immediately. Please, don't send your children here. There are two other FANTASTIC aerial arts schools in the woodlands and Conroe. She can not go on being allowed to teach children. If you care about your child's emotional well-being, you won't bring them here. read more

Didn't even make it to the class. Tried to sign up using an app that did not work. Also did not answer any of my phone calls. I am just trying to dance and wasted 25 minutes of my own time so now I'm salty.. Hopefully they are more organized in the future because it looks really fun. read more

I had my bachelorette weekend in Houston and Axis was one of the activities we had planned. There was 10 girls that came and all different sizes. Let me tell you, we had a blast!! We had a private party and for 2 hours it was $200 which was a good price since we just split the prices among all the girls. They teach you basically aerial posses on the silks, rings, and birdcage. Then for the last 30minutes or so we moved on to the poles and it was so fun but hard :/ lol those girls who do pole dancing for a living are fit!! read more

Before we get into this review: I began pole a while back, but left it due to my dad having some continued health issues and balancing work, hospital stays, and pole just wasn't going to happen. I started at a location in Houston that is part of a major chain/franchise (Not Axis). The search for a perfect studio is hard. You have your own personal goals you are working toward, and you are trying to find a place that not only meets that but also provides a comfortable environment. There are SO MANY studios in Houston, btw. I was searching FOREVER. Some focus more on the sexy side of pole, lots incorporate floor work, lapdancing, chair work. Most of those places just weren't for me. Everyone is different. I have always been attracted to aerial arts (and contortion, but that's a different story). Pole for me was always beautiful and artistic, like vertical ballet. The sexy stuff is awesome, just not for me personally. So I was on this ETERNAL hunt for a studio that focused on fitness and artistry. And I found Axis. But it took me another year or so to take the dive. D: (I know.) I had a car incident and was feeling pretty down in the dumps. Usually, when a depressing event happens in my life, I turn to fitness as a way to mend my heart. So I hopped on their mind body page and went for it. It's not close by any means to me lol. I had bought a sampler pass and decided along with pole, to try other apparatus. At one point I spent 4h on a Friday taking classes. #noregrets I learned my body understands lyra way easier than it does pole, the original apparatus I had started on way before. (I am not so great with left/right coordination when it comes to learning.) I also learned silks aren't necessarily my thing, and I am fairly okay with that. Or at least I should build up more upper body before approaching silks again. Cube was very interesting. I suggest bringing tights for learning cube, silks, or lyra. BC I learned the hard way lololol. Some apparatus are wrapped. Only lyra is wrapped, and a smaller cube is wrapped. Straps were rumoured to be added to the studio. Parking is easy enough. You reserve via mind body. Classes are small. Seriously. You can have individual attention if you are just not getting something. Flexibility classes are great. Before stretches begin, let instructors know if you had or have an injury or ongoing pain so modifications can be made for you. Every class will start with led group stretching. Bring your own yoga mat if you feel more comfortable using your own. I have a particularly cushy one. They have yoga blocks at the studio. Sometimes they have special events where teachers and students will have a showcase. Sometimes Cirque/Aerial Industry professionals will come in and offer workshops (you can sign up via mind body). I haven't been back due to it just not being in my budget right now. I do independent contractor work, versus having a steady FT situation. If money weren't an issue, I'd be living here on Fridays. Most of the classes I am interested in happen on Fridays and my Instructor is a funny, quirky, very talented lass. The pace is a bit quick, but even as a super newb with issues with left/right coordination, I got a hang of things. It's a great studio to be exposed to multiple apparatus. Lots of Pole studios just have pole or don't offer other aerial apparatus. If you find an aerial/cirque studio, likely they don't have pole. I like how I am able to explore pole, cube, lyra, silks, AND there's a dedicated flexibility class. PPS There are kids cirque classes offered via Fenix, who also uses the same space. Definitely worth checking out! read more

I enjoy the place and really loved it for my birthday BUT they have to start answering the phone or finding a better system! It's also kinda hard to find the place so leave a little early. But I do wish they would figure something out about the phones read more

Can't say enough about how wonderful Axis is! I started going about a year ago and go about 3 times a week now. I do pole, cube and sometimes silks. Absolutely love this place. Safety has always been first priority especially to the owner Rachel. My daughter does silks on Mondays and sometimes Wednesday and looks forward to it every week. It is a diverse community of people and uplifiting atmosphere. I knew noone when I started and now I have a a group of people who show love and encouragement and hangout with. First time here and had such a blast, the pole dancing was hard but so much fun. The instructor showed us different moves but still couldn't master them. Lol! We can for a friend's birthday party and we were able to bring outside food and drinks including alcohol that was a plus. We did a little bit of everything including a sexy chair dance It was a bit cold but after you start working out it comes in handy. I would definitely recommend this place for a party or even to enhance your fitness. read more

First time here, and it was definitely a work out. I came in scared I wouldn't be able to do anything, but the teacher and the class was very encouraging and helpful. I left with confidence and a sense of happiness that I tried something that I couldn't do before. You will be pushed to attempt things and be out of your comfort zone (there's no 'I can't do that I'll pass'. They will make you at least try). I attempted basic pole moves, hand stands, and new stretches. You do a lot of ab workouts after the 45min class. Even though I couldn't do the pole moves or the handstands correctly, I never felt judged. I felt very accepted here. Also love love love how this place isn't for strippers. Definitely recommend at least trying! read more

I tried this place the other day and enjoyed the instruction. They have alot of of really cool equipment that you don't see at most places. The workout is challenging and unique and the instructor does a good job of motivating you to do your best. read more

Small class if young energetic beauties that were both experienced and novice all at the same time which made the class enjoyable. I had always wanted to try and while visiting in houston from California I figured why not! Do keep in mind this class is very very physical. I got, dizzy , thirsty and worn out all in just an hour! But the instructor did pace my learning just to what worked for me. I lived it and will probably try it again. Especially if I go back to Houston. I would love to go back to this class again it was very fun all be it extremely taxing on my body! it is a great work out, I felt the burn even in my teeth afterwards lol read more

This place is awesome!!! I've only taken the aerial silks classes so far, which are amazing, but I've seen the girls on the poles having a blast too. I love the relaxed atmosphere, excellent instructors, challenging curriculum, go-at-your-own-pace instruction, and friendly students.
