I'm glad I went with the motorized option as it's a bit of a workout to extend and retract it manually. We bought an awning from Awntech about 20 years ago for our front door and liked it. Unfortunately it started getting mildew on it and I couldn't clean it and we are going to sell the house pretty soon. So I ordered a new one that is a little wider and a different style (black and white stripe) which we are very happy with. It was shipped the next day even though they said it would be about two weeks. If you are handy it's easy to put together, if you are a klutz with tools I'd hire someone to do it. I had a couple of questions and Patricia called me back and was very helpful. She also emailed more helpful information. Any way I pressure washed the front of the house, repainted it and hung up the new awning and the place is looking sharp. Would recommend Awntech highly. read more

I love the look of this Houstonian metal roof (copper). So far so good. I havent gone through a New England winter with it yet, its only been up about 2 weeks. Installed by a contractor. I purchased this 104 inch for the front and two 4 ft for side and back. Unfortunately and sadly had to send them back. Nothing wrong with them, but please consider if you have a storm door, make sure you have enough space to raise the roof so the storm door can open and clear the roof. This is why I had to send the 2 small units back, I didnt have enough room to raise the roof on my ranch style house, I just made it in the front by moving it off center slightly. Also, as another review mentioned that was helpful to me, make sure you caulk, normal rain did not weep down house, heavy rain did...very slightly, but not after caulking. All in all, I get so many compliments, customer service was very helpful, and I'm sad I cant have my other two units to match the front. Fingers crossed for winter snow/ice and longevity. We purchased an 18 x 10 Destin retractable awning. At first we thought we would just crank it in and out manually, but with bad shoulders I knew that it wasn't going to be long before I got the motor. That only took a couple of weeks, and we ordered the motor. My husband installed it and had some issues with programming the remote. I reached out both via phone and email to ask for assistance. Within hours, I received two calls, I'm guess one from my voice mail and one from my email. Awntech kept in touch until they knew we were satisfied. This is a poor quality product. I ordered top of the line 18 x12 ft. motorized awning. Awning came fairly fast. Initially it looked solid, but problems started when I installed it. First, be aware they use a very cheap tubular motor. You will need to adjust tension of the motor. Once I started the process, the motor stopped working. After 30-45 minutes wait motor worked again and so on. I contacted Awntech and after hours of waiting someone called me back and stated motor only works for short time before it overheats and stops. Then you need to wait for motor to cool down. Basically, Awntech knows about this problem, but they do not disclose it upfront. Pure misrepresentation of the product. Interestingly, Awntech gives only 1 year warranty for the motor - they know it's a low quality motor, yet their website boasts about high quality low price awnings. Not true. Second, quality of material if subpar. My awning was sewn from 4 different pieces of material. Awntech CS stated this is the only way material comes - 60 inches wide and "everyone" puts it together - pure lie considering Sunsetter for example makes wide awnings as one piece material. As a result of poor motor tension and poor quality of material your awning will be sagging a lot. If you are OK with it it's fine; to me it looked bad. Third, this is cheaply made product overall. Materials are of poor quality. Fourth, their return policy is not good and no matter what I told them they want to charge me 25% restocking fee plus shipping back - they basically blackmail me to keeping this poor quality awning, which I will not. I would highly recommend getting a different product. Yes, you will pay more money, but this is a purchase that should last for many years. Not only you will enjoy a better quality, but you will also feel good about it. I am getting a different product and should have listened to other folks advise - don't be a sucker like me! :) read more

Purchased an Awntech awning through Home Depot sometime around 2011. Color has stayed true without any fading and it is exposed to direct sunlight 6 hours daily. The valance has begun to fray. There are no other tears or flaws in the canvas, but I ordered a replacement canvas figuring it won't last forever. The frame has also held up well. Customer service has been excellent in processing my replacement order. They fabricated it and shipped within a few days and email communication has been immediate. I'm happy with their product, customer service, and professionalism. read more

We received our Awn-Tech 16x10 from Warfare, had it installed by handyman and we absolutely love it! No problems, no dents or rips. It was delivered in a very sturdy container. We have had nothing but compliments from all of our guests. We've had it now for 2 1/2 months. It definitely needs to be retracted if it's very windy but other than that it blocks out the sun great and creates a nice cool area underneath our patio . we bought the manual because in all the reviews I read that the motorized does have problems. I can't say enough about it. I would definitely recommend. read more

We purchased a 76inch dome canopy awning from Awntech through Home Depot Canada. Paid a tidy sum of $1180 Cdn for this product described as 'fully assembled'. Delivery took 3 weeks from Texas to Vancouver BC, Canada. Acceptable. However, the carton was delivered by UPS and was ripped and taped. It appeared that the canvas and ribs were in tact. Wait a minute 'fully assembled?' No. This requires assembly. But to assemble, you need hardware. None to be found. Must have fallen out. Wait, it's also missing a dome plate for the ribs to be connected. So, we email Awntech and next morning pleased to see a response. They say 'sorry' and warranty department will get hold of parts department and have them contact us to assess what needs to be done. I respond with thanks and tell them we need 'dome plate and assemble hardware'. Another day passes and we are told that parts will ship out replacements and we will be notified of tracking. Well, one day the pickup service doesn't show up. Another day, I get no update whatsoever. Now we go into the weekend, and I'm now getting even more frustrated with the lack of Customer service. I decide to build my own dome plate from sheet metal and proceed to spend a couple of Saturday morning hours making one. I then go to Home Depot and buy bolts and nuts ($20 bucks) and go home to assemble. I unravel the awning and once again face disappointment when I see that they fold perpendicular to the stitching and choose not to roll the awning vertically (presumably to save a couple of shipping bucks). Poor decision making because the creases are deep and make stretching the awning more difficult. The canvas is also dirty with appears to be chalk marks and soil scuffing. Never mind, I clean it with a soapy damp cloth and use a hair dryer to try and ease the creases (some but not total success). I then assemble the awning and on Sunday morning proceed to install. No hardware supplied for installation (they do tell you that...but I have to say that it's cheap out because it wouldn't take much to put in a simple set of brackets that fit the awning bars). Overall. the Awning canvas material appears good although some of the stitching had loose threads. I'm hoping not a sign of problem to develop. The bars(ribs) appear solid and fit well. Packaging gets a FAIL and that is shameful. Change the description to read 'Assembly required...if you're lucky enough to get all the parts from us' Customer Service is weak and lacks any interest beyond standard apologies. I can say without hesitation, I will never buy another Awntech product...and the experience has me questioning if I will ever source anything from Home Depot that I can't physically see in their store. Exterior Bahama awnings: I would not wish this product on my worst enemy. Purchased two awnings. They were defective from the get go. Did not include pre-drilled or guide holes as required for assembly. This is cheap aluminum and the awnings come in over 100 pieces to assemble. The directions were a laugh and went off the rails of being accurate. First, I tried to exchange for replacement, but the distributor admitted that "it is always something" and basically admitted that this product is junk. After days of efforts, emails, and wasted time I returned the awnings to Houzz and received a full refund. read more

We are very disgusted with Awntech. We ordered an awning on April 19, 2021 through Lowes and it was supposed to be delivered May 11th. They changed the date to the 13th, the 14th, and finally May 17th. Now the delivery date is supposed to be May 19th. The awning is a Mother's day gift to my mom and myself and still we wait. The worst part, you can never get hold of anyone to talk to when you call. If the problem is the shipping company then maybe you should consider getting a new company. Awning fabric developed small tears which subsequently destabilized the frame. Frame eventually fell after being professionally installed. This is the second time in less than a week that the remote stopped working. Last time it took 24 hours and numerous tries to re-pair the remote to the motor. This time I can't pair the two. Of course when you call, you have to leave a number and they will call you back in 24 hours. It's a crap shoot if you're around the product. Right now I would not recommend this product. If I could give this company a negative star rating I would. Ordered through Lowes, delivery was delayed during COVID which was understandable. Couldn't schedule my contractor to install until I had the awning due to the delay. Awning was installed 4 weeks and 3 days after I received it. As soon as it was extended, we found a rip in the awning, a dent in the roller that the awning rolls up on and scratches on the extension bars. Contacted Awntech and was told they have a 7 day warranty HOWEVER they did offer me a discount on replacement parts (yes for real). I wish I had paid a little more and got a better quality awning and awning company to work with. Patiently waiting for this piece of crap to get blown off my house (won't be long it's a piece of crap) so I can order a better quality awning. read more

We bought an Awntech maui 14'x12' motorized awning in May 2019. We mistakenly thought it would be a pleasant convenience. Out of the box the awning fabric rolls up wrinkled on the roller, bags in the middle, allows the lightest sprinkling of dew or rain to pool in the middle, and appears very cheap and unstable. We bought the extended version of the awning, but we are afraid to fully extend it for fear it will collapse on us. If you open the awning a by mere 2' water will pool in the middle. In part I blame myself because I saw plenty of Awntech reviews, by buyers, stating how cheaply built they are and how after they installed the awning they discovered Awntech's customer service ends at the point of delivery. I found this out first hand when I contacted Awntech, three times, to ask them to repair or adjust the new awning. They responded "our warranty specifically states that using during in climate (sic) weather will not be covered under warranty. Some wrinkling of the fabric on the tube is totally normal and won't affect the function or longevity of the fabric." In climate (sic) weather? Every drop of dew or rain, no matter how light pools in the middle and causes the weak arms to sag. Some wrinkling of the fabric? The fabric bags, sags, and wrinkles over itself. It does not roll up evenly, so of course, it wrinkles on the roll. This Awntech Beauty Mark Maui motorized awning was purchased as a replacement awning as we were thinking of selling the house. The old awning, manufactured by a well known maker, had been used for 14 years and was still functional. During the 14 years it was in use there were many many times we forgot and left it partially opened overnight or during a light to medium rain. Dew and rain sheeted off of it with no problems. The material rolled back onto the roller smoothly. It did not bag, sag, and buckle over itself, even after 14 years. We wish we had it back, seriously. The awning we got from Awntech gives no better service than a patio umbrella. In fact, with an umbrella at least water doesn't pool. Awntech's customer service response pretty much amounted to "tough luck" thanks for buying. I'm writing this to warn other consumers that this company is not interested in their awning once they sell it to you because they know exactly what they are selling. They were careful to artfully phrase their warranty, and they are delighted to point that out to you when you try to get them to stand behind their product. And the sad fact is, once you've bought their awning and it's bolted onto the side of your house, you're pretty much stuck with it while you watch it bag, and sag, and wrinkle every time you try to use it. read more

I had a heck of a time ordering an awning. I wanted the full cassette Hampton model. First I ordered from Home Depot only to be told a week later it was out of stock with no date of when it would be available. When I called Home Depot they said it was the color I ordered. I was then told they had 37 beige in stock so I ordered that color. Again I got an email about a week later saying they were out of stock! So, I ordered one from Amazon which listed how many of which color were in stock. You guessed it, I got an email saying it was out of stock and they'd email more info when they they knew more. When I realized I could buy direct from Awntech I figured that's the way to go. I ordered the Hampton only to be called a few days later to be told it was out of stock and even they couldn't tell me when it would be available again! I was told I could get the Galveston model instead and they'd throw in my choice of a motor or winter cover for the same price. Not sure how they figure they were "throwing in" a motor or winter cover on a model that was $200 cheaper. So, the actual offer was 'we have a $200 cheaper model and we'll sell you your choice of a motor or winter cover that way the total will be the same and we can keep all the money you've already given us and not refund a dime'. I didn't really want a motorized awning or need a winter cover so, just went with the partial cassette Galveston model 14' wide, 10' extension. They threw in 'rush status' on the order which was nice and refunded $150. I got the awning about two weeks later! Packaging was okay but there were a few spots that poked out that weren't protected well enough and had the paint rubbed off. The installation instructions left plenty to be desired but it was easy to figure out what needed to be done. I came up with my own plan of action that required no measuring or layout and ended up taking me less than an hour to install on a beam between two posts under my eaves. Here's how I recommend doing the install: Rent a light, hand crank material or drywall lift. Using towels for protection, place the awning on it in it's mounted position relative to your wall. Crank it up to where you want to mount it, make sure it's level, and put a mark in the center, at the bottom of each bracket. Lower the awning to where you can easily access your marks. Drill the bottom pilot hole for the center lower bolt for the bracket. Using 3/8" lag bolts, washer (I used stainless which I believe awntech recommends. The 3/8" will give you room to slightly adjust each bracket) and impact driver mount the bracket through the bottom center hole and tighten to almost tight. Use a level across the top of the bracket and drill the top two pilot holes (one on each side), and bolt to almost tight. Lift the awning back into position and place on brackets. Adjusting each bracket to make sure the awning is seated in it, tighten the lower center lag bolt with a wrench. Remove the awning from the brackets back onto lift. Tighten all mounting bracket lag bolts with impact drill. Put awning back on the brackets and bolt the two halves of the mounting brackets together using the provided bolts. You're done - maybe. Unless you're luck enough to have it come at angle you want, you'll have to adjust that. Those instructions are worse than the mounting instructions. Here's how to do that: take the round cover off each end of the cassette housing where the extension arms attach to it using a 10mm wrench. Loosen the two bolts using a 17mm wrench. Adjust the Allen head set screw.....righty tighty to raise the leading edge of the awning, lefty loosey to lower it. Tighten the 17mm bolts, replace the cover. Lastly, I highly recommend getting the optional support rods. Again, instructions are less than worthless when they tell you to remove one of the bolts mounting the extension arm to the awning bar and put the support piece in with that bolt. That won't work! You need to remove the plastic cap on the end of the bar by removing the one Phillips screw and juggling the cap out. Slide the strut nut on the L shaped piece in the support rod into the awning bar. Slide to where you want it and tighten. Replace end cap. Mount the bottom bracket wherever you want using hardware of your choice (I used small stainless lag bolts to attach to deck). I also changed the hardware attaching the bar to the lower brackets so I can just remove a wing nut and pull out a bolt to separate the bar from the bracket and retract the awning. With all this said, I like the product so far. My impression is it's reasonably priced in comparison to other manufacturers (that want to send a sales person to your house and hire out the installation - all driving up the price). For these reasons I give a higher 4 stars than I would otherwise. read more

My client ordered a pair of awnings and one worked while the second one didn't. I unplugged both and left, after a week I came back, they both worked this time, great. Well this was short lived as I got a call from my clients saying they both extended out but both didn't retract. So once again I went to my clients home and unplugged them both iagain, one worked, the second one I could hear the motor running and eventually it stopped. Fast forward to Awntech customer service. I contacted them and discussed the problem, I was told a new motor would be sent out since the awnings were under warranty. Fast forward again, I installed the new motor but with help from Rowan which I was thankful for. I was told an RA (return authorization) would be sent via email. Obviously it wasn't and was told the warranty authorization shouldn't have been given and that I would have to pay for the return which isn't a big deal, but what has incited me is that the Senior Tech Shawn, placed blame on my clients, myself and Rowan, which is completely unprofessional and also threatened me with the fact that if I don't return the old motor on my dime that he would dissolve the warranty which would affect my clients. I would rather eat dirt than have to deal with this company again, Shawn is completely childish, petty, vindictive and unprofessional. Rowan was awesome and if there is such a thing as Karma, I hope Shawn or however you spell his name, gets it full frontal. read more

I purchased 3 awnings with valances recently through Home Depot. Awning #1 over my sliding door; Awning #2 & #3 over west facing windows. All arrived without the necessary screws. Awning #1 over the sliding door installed by my superior handyman & once installed is perfect. Awning #2 & #3 not so much. After my superior handyman had put up all the framework for both awnings he than attempted to put up the canvas's only to discover that the front face bar was missing the Velcro needed to adhere the valance hence no flapping or flapping over of the valance. He discovered the velcro was placed on a top bar! Hence flapping valance. I spoke with Awntech direct and their solution was for me to take them down; package two 6 foot awnings & ship back & they would re-design to my specifications! Their excuse was a new design and I received the old design for my sliding door left in stock! I had ordered the exact same awning as the slider within 1 month of ordering the slider awning. I asked if Awntech would cover the cost of my superior handyman's work to take both down, repackage and ship and they said no. Not one financial recompense was offered at all only that I go back to Home Depot. I spoke with Home Depot customer service who apologized for the inconvenience and after conversations with their team & supervisor I was offered a $40. gift card to cover the cost of velcro and or glue my superior handyman would need to secure the valance to the face bar. In my opinion Awntech took no responsibility for this mishap nor in the description of the product did they make it clear how the canvas was to adhere to the metal face bar and or top of the face bar. By the way, the new design? Back to the drawing board for Awntech because the canvas velcro doesn't stretch & match up with the top of the bar velcro, design flaw. Oh and include screws please. I would definitely go with another Home Depot manufacturer for awnings and pass on Awntech Corporation. Kudos to Home Depot and their customer service team for offering support to an otherwise discontented customer. read more
