We all can agree with the fact that we carry a piece of our birthplace everywhere we go. After coming to Canada, I always craved authentic Indian cuisine with the correct spice. Even though I found many restaurants selling Indian food, but they lacked the sterling spice level. I continued my search for that flavour that would satisfy my taste buds. And here I am today with my answer. Welcome to the world of AVSAR, where the Mumbai and Gujarati street food fusions together and serves you the best of both worlds. Trust me, this place will bring back all your street food fonding memories. So what all did I explore? Pav Bhaji Misal Pav Samosa Chaat Must-try their new delicacies: Mirchi Guava Dabeli Deluxe Grill Sandwich Churra Vada Pav Super Loaded Makhni Fries Undhiyu Gujarati Thali Swipe right to see all the goodness of Indian street food under one roof. If you love Indian street food and want to relish the taste on these rainy days, you'll surely not miss this golden AVSAR! P.S: Their patios are now open and placed under a huge tent with lively Indian music and beautiful decor. Check out @avsar.to for more details. Avsar, 1225, Matheson Blvd, Mississauga

    An empty thaali

Having booked mark this for a long time, me along with 6 other family members headed to this on a Saturday afternoon. The location is in an industrial area and parking spots are not maintained properly as it is frequented by trucks and larger vehicles. The inside is clean and seems a bit small. After we were seated the restaurant filled up quickly and there was some people waiting. A stainless steel thaali (plate) with 6 watis (bowls) were waiting to be filled. Upon asking what has dairy products the owner came out explaining all but two items being g served today were Vegan. What a pleasant surprise. The Yoghurt Kadhi (curry) and a sweet made from cream of wheat had dairy. The Chappatis come out without anything and you can top them with ghee. But first came the appetizers two types of pakoras and while dhoklas (steamed savoury cakes). They are served with 2 chutneys and one carrot pickle. All were perfect. The dhoklas are just amazing. Soft with the perfect amount of seasonings. Then came the curries. Potato (ok), whole Moong (delicious), lentil daal and yogurt curry (daal was amazing, I probably drank 1/2 a litre of it. Okra (very good, but on the greasy side - hard to make with less oil). Sweet Boondi (ok). And then the Chappatis and deep fried pooris (whole wheat bread). And yes Oondhiyu/Undhiyu very well made with minimal oil just the right amount of spice that even the most people with spice intolerance can enjoy. At the same time full of flavour. And don't forget the rice. You can all down with a salty lassi or chass as it called (watered buttermilk). If you love Gujarati food and want to taste how all AYCE (weekends only) thaalis are served in Mumbai and Gujarat, this is the place. There are many servers all very good and perfectly serving most of the time. Some food we had to wait a bit longer as we had the curries, but no Chappatis and we finally had enough Chappatis not enough curries. It's the only thing they can improve. Reasonably priced as well.

I just had dinner from this place - I ordered a veggie pizza and Gulab Jamuns. The veggie pizza was so delicious, I had to write this review immediately. If you want to have a typical homemade pizza with simple toppings, I would highly recommend this place. The pizza was fresh and crispy and they were generous with the amount of toppings. Gulab Jamuns were not my favourite- they tasted good but I don't think they were fresh. The prices are reasonable and the portions are sufficient for a single person. I am definitely going to order from this place again. I finally found a place that serves pizza like the one I used to eat back home!

We heard great things about this place from a few people so we were very excited to try it out, specifically the kathiawadi thali. Unfortunately, our experience was unsatisfactory and we felt that it was a waste of money. First of all, they don't know themselves when they will be serving their well known kathiawadi thali. It is only served once in a while when the owner feels like it. So right off the bat we were confused and disappointed because that's the only reason we had gone there. Since we were already there, we decided to try the only thali they had available at that time. It came with pakora, papad, 2 veg dishes, daal, rice, roti or puri, 1 type of achaar and 1 sweet. Taste wise, everything was sub par. To get more puri or roti, we had to pay extra.

Skip delivery. Great taste. I would give 5 stars but I would expect a small side with sandwich at 13.45

Unlimited Gujarati thali's are a very popular concept in India. Avsar Thali's have 3 vegetarian curries, a pakora and dessert with rotis on weekend. Pros: 1. Food is not bad, average 2. The manager or the owner seems to be actively involved in the management and feedback Cons: 1. Small place, wait time is too much 2. Not staffed enough to serve food during peak hours. We had to wait for 15-20 minutes to get a plate in front of us. Rotis and curries would take longer, by then we weren't hungry anymore and felt like money wasted. 3. Slightly on the pricey side for all the inconvenience caused

Visited this restaurant with family(and kids) after seeing their ad on Facebook. It is a newly opened restaurant in not so residential place (Warehouses, Loads of Trucks and Trailers parked in that plaza) so it is easy to miss this spot being in such an expected area. Dishes we tried: Sichuan Vada Pav, Butter Pav Bhaji, Avsar Kachori Chat, Dahi Batata Puri, Puri plate (ordered for the kid which was not menu but the owner obliged our request for it). Taste (better other joints in Mississauga area, didn't try to tone down the flavor profile as many othersdo. Dunno why? But here they tried to keep it close to authentic possible), quantity and price (as per Mississauga standards) is decent. Plus points: Friendly owner and staff. Quick serve. Would recommend to include Thali and Indian Curries (undiyo, kadhi, dal and authentic Gujrati dishes) for Dinner serve as well. Will return to try their Misal Pav (recommended by the owner) and Gujrati thali.

For our mains, we went with Rogan Josh, Chicken Tikka Masala, Dal Maharani, Malai Kofta, and Chicken Biryani. Most of the dishes were delicious--Rogan Josh, Chicken Tikka Masala, and Dal Maharani were especially impressive. The Malai Kofta was on the sweeter side, but still enjoyable depending on your taste. The only real disappointment was the Chicken Biryani. It had an overpowering amount of rose water, and the rice tasted stale with a strange aftertaste, which really took away from the dish. Additionally, while the restaurant is understandably a bit pricey for a special occasion, the naan prices felt excessive. Overall, we had a great experience--the ambience was beautiful, the service was warm, and most of the food was excellent. I would have given four or even five stars, but due to the Biryani and the naan pricing, I'm leaving it at three stars. Maybe next time!!!

I absolutely love this place. Normally, a place that has a massive menu is a bit concerning to me…read moreas it often leads to not really excelling at anything, but that is not the case here in my experience. The reason behind the large menu is related to the aim of the restaurant, which is to showcase the various regional cuisines of India. As a result, don't expect the straightforward menu of: apps, entrees, deserts, etc... rather the menu is divided by cuisine. Aside from honouring tradition, they do offer a couple 'new' takes on some items. If you comb through a few reviews, and certainly the pics, you'll notice a must-order items is the roasted eggplant with pomegranate. It really is like nothing else I've had before and unforgettable in both taste and texture. My group also went with a famous lamb dish as well. I don't remember the name offhand, but it is incredibly soft, well seasoned and nicely spiced dish. We also went with orders of naan, veggie dishes and meat skewers. It's beautifully decorated inside and also has the advantage of being located in a heritage building in what was formerly an estate home nearly 150 years old. In conclusion, it is probably not a place I will be ordering from often because of those prices but will definitely consider it if I am looking to impress any guests looking for authentic spicy fare from the southern part of India.
