It's always good to see independent shops that aren't part of a chain, and for certain items I feel like they're harder to find than others. Shoes are one of them - when you think about it, when was the last time you bough shoes from a unique shop rather than a branch of something bigger?
Avondale Shoes is a local independent shop, so it gets points from me for that right away. It's not a huge place but it has a decent range despite this. It's hard for me to get excited about shoes because, without wanting to fall back on stereotypes, I'm a boy and I don't care about shoes. If you don't count jandals I have three pairs: one for drumming, one for manual labour, and one for looking nice (which are just like the drumming ones, but made out of leather). If I did care about shoes, it would probably make shoe shopping a lot harder. Luckily there are places like this chock-full of all different shoes, most of which I have no interest in owning. But it's nice to know that they're there. read more
