It is the essence of 70'-esque British style, for a modern generation. The trouble as i understand it is that Ben Sherman has moved away from its traditionally slim fit lines towards a boxier cut. That makes sense from a sales perspective: there is more money to be made when selling clothing that fits more people, less well, than less people, well. But I'm not reviewing the clothing here. The store is a nice layout with a good-sized dressing room. It's also connected to Lacoste, so if you prefer French to British, just move over a few feet. The employee we met was very polite, and as helpful as she could be despite a language barrier (her English was weak and our Japanese is even weaker). Still, we semi-spoke and mimed our way through a nice visit, in what turned out to be a productive shopping stop in a nice part of Auckland. The selection of button up shirts and variety of patterns and fabrics used is what keeps me coming back and seeing what new ideas they have for my wardrobe.
