I've gotten manicure's in Mattoon area, different states, and even different countries. This is by far my favorite place. Jenny and Lisa are both amazing. It doesn't really matter which one of the ladies do your nails, it will be great and you will be happy. Avon unlike other salons I've visited that run there Nail salon like an assembly line trying to get quota and not really taking pride in doing a good job. I have never been treated more poorly in my life at Avon nails. The receptionist (middle age American male) yelled at me, screaming that I was a no show so he gave my appointment away. I explained politely that this was only my second time there and he obviously had me confused with someone else. He proceeded to continue to yell at me, was so disrespectful, cut me down, and treated me like dirt. When I walked out and sat in my car, I was shaking and crying. I was in shock that a person who owns a business would treat someone so poorly. I told the gentlemen that I was going to put my experience with him and how he treated me on Facebook and he replied, " Go ahead, won't hurt my business." I had been told by several people how poorly they treat their customer's, but I thought, why not give them a try. BIG MISTAKE!!! Please think twice before using this salon. read more

The pros: The place is well organized, and the staff all super nice. The pedicure was divine. The cons: This is a big one, and the reason we won't be going back. The manicure and full nail set. 6 of my fingers were cut by the tech. 2 badly enough they bled. She immediately apologized. However, after she was done, she put the file, brush, and tools back without cleaning them. They still had my blood on them. The nails themselves were awful. I went home and reshaped them. The gel color was unevenly applied. So even after all that, the nails were not close to worth getting cut. It looks clean, but using tools after someone has been cut without cleaning them is a health nightmare. We left completely grossed out. It's just not safe. I immediately applied alcohol and antibiotic ointment to all my fingers, but can't help being afraid of the cuts. read more

I've gotten manicures and pedicures all over the United States and I've never been charged so much for a pedicure in my entire life. I ordered a $52 pedicure which was timed down to the minute and my total was over $80 with tip. They charged an ADDITIONAL $15 for gel and $10 for gel removal. They did not tell me this before doing my pedicure. I should have complained about it, but I just paid and left. I've never paid over $55 for a gel pedicure and it was at a much nicer salon than this one. I hardly ever write reviews, but felt like I needed to warn people to not go here. It was not worth the money and I won't be back and I'll be telling my friends to never go here. It's a scam. read more

I went here a few years ago to get my nails done for my birthday (as a birthday gift from my dad) they didn't do what I wanted. When I told her what color I wanted she told me no and picked a different color that she said looked better but it was a horrible green color, when I wanted a pretty blue one I picked out. If that wasn't bad enough I got an infection in 3 of my fingers underneath my real nails. They bleed and were like a nasty black/brown color. I will never return. read more

I took a trip in and had a good experience. I'm a serial nail-biter, and having my nails done helps me to keep my hands out of my mouth. The tech I had was a young man, who was very gentle and apologized if he felt I had been hurt (sensitive nail plates due to the trauma of nail-biting) although I was just a bit ticklish. The only thing that I felt a bit uncomfortable with is that they were very much pressuring people to get gel color after being told "No, thanks". $47 for squoval gel full set was a bit more than I'm used to, but I don't know if that's corona pricing. Will never be back, worst pedicure I've ever had. Decided to try somewhere new and never again. Never have I spent 70 bucks on a pedicure and walked out unhappy. Took them 2 hours and it wasn't even the top pedicure they provide. Polish all over my skin, file uneven, wanted to try to tell me the color would be different with a second coat..nope. I've had bad pedicures before but this one takes the lead by pretty far. For my 30th bday too so thanks avon nails, gotta go spend more money for another one! read more

I've been here several times and have had mediocre dip manicures. After tonight I don't think I'll return. They have simply overbooked and are rushing each person. Each individual that comes in stating they have an appointment has to sit for at least 30-45 minutes. My appointment started 35 minutes ago. I'm supposed to be getting a dip manicure. So far I've just had the dip powder poorly applied 3 times. It's very clumpy and "thick". He started and has been gone for 15 minutes. Then his coworker took over. She literally filed two nails and walked away to another client. I'm waiting yet again. I'm very displeased. I understand overbooking may happen.. but I don't believe this is how to please your customers. read more

Always love my nails when leaving! They are very friendly staff and quick. I get my nails done about every three weeks and have tried various places in Mattoon and they are my favorite. They also use colored powder unlike any other nail salon in Mattoon. I play softball and my nails are durable and they always last regardless of how rough I am on them. 5 stars! read more

I would not recommend getting your eyelashes done here. The lashes are very cheap and the lady coated my entire set of eyelashes with glue which was very painful when I blinked. I had to remove them the same day because of the discomfort. $40 wasted and to just rip my eyelashes out! read more

I went to Avon twice, both for a no chip manicure and a pedicure. Both times my "no chip" manicure began pulling up within a few days, completely coming off within a week of me paying $35 for them. I was rushed through the pedicure despite the fact me and two friends were the only clients in there. My nail artist did not treat me the same as she did my friend who asked for the exact same thing as me. She did not push my cuticle back or shape my nails. Waste of money! read more

My daughter needed her nails done so while I waited for her, I asked if they could give me and another person with us pedicures. They had plenty of time, so we pointed out what we wanted done, and they were agreeable. Our entire pedicures took less time than the massage part alone was supposed to take. I pointed it out to the lady who did my nails who didnt seem to understand, so I addressed it to the man who rung us up. It ended up we were charged $60.00 more than what we should have been , and my daughter getting her nails done was the only one who got what she paid for. I would give zero stars if that were an option. My 16 year old daughter went in on a Saturday to have a set of eyelash extensions done. The lady doing them asked if she would like an eyebrow wax also. My daughter told her no. She then proceeded to wax them anyway, AND charge her for it. (I later found out she is one of the owners). The lash extensions are "guaranteed" for at least two weeks. These began falling off within a few hours. The following Monday, I called and told them her extensions had almost all fallen out. They asked us to come back in and they would fix them. So we made a second trip to their salon. The female owner was extremely rude, and was clearly annoyed that she was having to redo the service, all the while loudly chomping and smacking her gum six inches from my daughters face. Within 2 hours of the second set being completed, they literally started falling off, into my daughters lap. I called, again, this time asking for a refund, which I was told to come in and get by the male owner. When we arrived, they attempted to have us let them do a THIRD set, rather than refund the money. I refused the third set, and they offered a gift certificate, which I explained we had no use for as our experience had not been a pleasant one and would not be returning. This business is strongly lacking in professionalism and customer service skills. read more

This is a very relaxing atmosphere and they do great work. My gel manicure lasted almost 4 weeks (except for my nails growing out). My only complaint is they always have it very warm in the shop. Its uncomfortable to put my feet in a pedi bath when I already feel hot. read more
