The kids section looks large and there's rarely been a visit where I haven't seen some kind of family or kid event going on there so probably a great destination option. Librarians and staff are friendly and helpful and any checkout lines move very quickly. Pro tip: Sign up for their newsletter and you'll get a consistent reminder of all the events they have going!

The structure itself is beautiful but getting into the parking lot is tricky. The logical turn to enter the parking lot doesn't really take you to the librarys parking lot and there is no signage that could say "not this parking lot here, keep going straight and THEN turn in here" Inside there was plenty of lounge seating including a really cool bench that wrapped around a big column (someone should take a pic, I forgot) but the computer area was cramped. I found the books I was looking for with ease but honestly the real disappointment was the DVD collection. It could have been great but I'll never know because you can't simply browse the titles by scanning quickly with your eyeballs. No, the DVDs are in rows one in front of the other so you have use your fingers to flip through each stack to see exactly what is there and this includes multiple copies of the same title. Who has time for that????

Not as big as northeast and not as much to do but still fun and something free to do. We have also been to Chesapeake city and rising sun. All great places to take your kids! I would recommend the northeast branch out of all of them because there is so much for your kids to play with, they always have some kind of little activity for the kids to do (last week was matching mittens on a large board) always very clean, bathrooms are super nice and staff is great, very helpful very nice and welcoming!

This is my favorite branch in the HC library system. Freshly remodeled, they have opened up the…read morespace and added more PCs and reading areas. A good selection of titles with various formats available although CDs are no longer available at this branch. That said, you can request a CD hold for pickup at the Abingdon branch. They will also order/request items they don't carry in the Harford County system from Baltimore for example. Also nice to be have the option to pick up your reserve items at the window. Most of the branches are open Sundays from October to April. I've always had a great experience with all of the staff at the various branches.
