This place was near me and I figure I'll give it a shot. I also wanted to take the opportunity to get a prescription for some meds I needed for when I head out of the country. The experience was pretty typical. Setup appointment, came in, had the physician assistant assess me. Pretty standard. The PA noticed I have high blood pressure. I already knew this and was currently taking steps to fix it. Then Dr. Wilfong came in. He checked my blood pressure and started to lecture me about it. He was very condescending. He went on to say that men usually don't listen to what he tells them to do and I probably wouldn't either. He looked at his PA and went on about how him and his women patients get along great. But for some reason men just never listen to him. He questioned my last PCP visit and whether I was going to stay in the area. I ended up not saying much. He was giving me directions on what to do next. I nodded and agreed. At the end of it, he asked if I understood. I told him I understood. He scoff and said, "Well you bought that quickly." He then wrote my prescription for my medication, stated that "this is what you're here for," left it on the table, then darted out of the room with a quick "see ya." The encounter lasted less than two minutes. I didn't even get to talk to him about other health issues before he walked out of the door. I just sat on the bed feeling embarrassed for myself. I guess my PCP search continues.

My first visit was long and that made me feel so much more confident in being a new patient. He went over every detail I listed on the intake form, and asked tons of questions. I wish all Doctors were that thorough! I live in North Hills, but have no problem driving to Tarentum because of the excellent care I receive. Every single staff member has been friendly and empathetic and it's a very pleasant environment. Anytime I have questions or concerns, I can call and they are happy to help. They also have the most recent up to date treatments, which has helped me since I am very sensitive to medications. I just completed my first year of Botox, and also started Emgality today. Unlike other Specialists I've been to, Dr. Michel doesn't force medication, but gives you options, and is very open minded. I feel very respected as a patient because we actually talk about various treatments. I highly recommend Dr. Michel to anyone looking for an amazing Neurologist who truly cares. Waited an hour and a half. Had to leave and they said they would call when they have it figured out. They called only 2 days later. I set an appointment. They then called the next day 'to reschedule". They left a voicemail. When I called back I was repeatedly put on hold. They couldn't figure out who called me and then denied calling. After I played the voicemail for them they said they were unaware I already rescheduled. After I established I already rescheduled they said "its all on paper". You're never rushed and you are never dismissed when you have questions or need things explained. I love that he is one of the last independent doctors around. He is not beholden to any big medical here! You're always given a detailed summary after your appointment kind of like a chronological progress report. His office staff is kind and funny. When you commit to being his patient you are rewarded by the practice going the extra mile for you and I'm always amazed at the personal details he can remember mannnny months later. He is like an old fashioned doctor in that he ends up knowing you so well and doesn't focus on rushing you out in a 10 minute maximum, again because he is still an independent practice. He is compassionate but in your best interest most of all and he's always happy to explain the science or evidence for his decisions. He has been my PCP for over six years and I really appreciate his time and care. Really smart guy! Be aware that some times he can run pretty behind--- because he gives all his patients the time they need with him and doesn't just "finish and walk out". He's worth it!
